[ start of pack mentality part one ]
"Allison?" Jaden asked incredulously, narrowing his eyes at Scott as he nodded his head.
"At least in my dream I think I did. I just woke up, and I was sweating like crazy and I could barely breathe. I've never had a dream like that before."
Eleanor cringed, already sensing that an inappropriate comment would fall from one of the boys' lips. "Really? I have, usually ends a little differently though."
She scoffed at Stiles as he wiggled his eyebrows, Scott rolled his eyes. "A, I meant I've never had a dream that felt that real before, and B, never give us that much detail about you in bed again. Poor Eleanor can't cope with the details."
At the mention of her name, she glared at the new werewolf and avoided Stiles' red cheeks. "Okay, noted. Let me take a guess here -"
"No, I know what you're going to say. You're thinking this has something to do with me going out with Allison tomorrow, like I'm going to rip her head off or something."
"No, of course not!" Stiles denied as Jaden raised an eyebrow at him. "Okay, yeah that's totally it. But it's going to be fine, personally I think you're doing pretty well will this whole thing. It's not like there's a lycanthropy class you can take."
Scott slowed his pace and smirked. "Maybe not a class, but a teacher." His gaze slipped to the two twins and they both shot their heads toward each other before shaking them.
"Jaden and I can't teach you things that he can." Eleanor's tone was short and snippy, due to the fact that she hadn't gotten much sleep from the night before.
Stiles scoffed. "Who, Derek? Are you forgetting the part where we tossed him into jail?"
"No, I don't think I have Stiles." Eleanor snapped back, crossing her arms over her chest in annoyance. Her mind was racing, how in the world did she have a crush on him? She wish she didn't.
"Whatever, chasing her, dragging her to the back of the bus, it all felt so real!"
Jaden furrowed his eyebrows. "How real?"
"Like it actually happened."
The doors to the school opened as the four best friends pushed their way through the crowd of people, coming to a stop at the significantly horrifying vision in front of them. The back of one of their school buses had been ripped open and blood had been sprayed everywhere.
Eleanor took one look at the vehicle and cringed as Stiles spoke. "Maybe it did?"
Scott immediately turned back to the school and began roaming the halls, his three best friends following close behind him as he stared at his phone screen impatiently. "She's not answering my texts!"
"Scott, it's going to be fine. It's probably just a coincidence, let us help you find her." He nodded at Jaden's calm tone and they began searching for the brunette whom Scott had grown to like.
While following her friends, Eleanor had begun to try and connect to Allison, to prove to Scott that she was in fact alive. However, as soon as she was able to get through to her friend, Scott had stumbled into her himself.
"You're okay." He sighed in relief, holding on tightly to her shoulders as Jaden, Stiles and Eleanor separated from the couple and made their way toward their lockers.
Eleanor pushed her belongings into her metal compartment just as a voice called over the speaker that classes would be running as usual, despite the recent events involving the school bus, and the bell rang afterwards.

The three friends, soon joined by Scott and Allison, entered their first class of the day. Chemistry with Mr Harris. Scott pulled Stiles onto a table straight away as Allison did the same with Eleanor after Jaden paired up with Jackson whom had actually been very nice to him.
Mr Harris began talking as soon as the students had sat down, however Scott and Stiles didn't seem to notice, too busy talking about the bus situation to pay attention to their surroundings.
Stiles last sentence had caused a small fit of laughter from Eleanor to roll out of her mouth as he spoke. "Raw? Of course not, you stopped to bake it in your little werewolf oven! I don't know dumbass, you're the one who can't remember anything."
Stiles' widened his eyes at her giggling and sent Eleanor a slight smile that quickly followed into a frown as Mr Harris narrowed his eyes at the two boys.
"Mr Stilinski, if that's your idea of a hushed whisper, you might want to pull your headphones out every once in a while. I think you and McCall would benefit from a little distance, yes?"
Stiles and Scott poured, shaking their heads furiously. "No."
Harris simply shook his head and rolled his eyes, pointing to a seat behind Eleanor and Allison that was vacant for his use. "Let me know if the separation anxiety gets too much."
Considering she still felt awkward around Stiles and Scott concerning the whole Derek situation, Eleanor didn't make an effort to turn around and talk to her best friend. Although, she didn't really get the chance too before Harley had caught the classes attention.
"Look, I think they found something!" She called, standing up and walking to the window as the majority of their peers did the same.
Eleanor watched in curiosity, jumping back and letting out a small squeal as the man on the gurney sat up suddenly. Her heart skipped at an abnormal pace and for a moment, she forgot about her quarrel with Stiles, and let him envelop her from behind to comfort her.
Allison turned her head to check on her best friend to find her leaning against Stiles chest as his arms wrapped around her waist, holding her steady as her heart beat returned to a normal pace. She smirked at this vision and made a mental note to tell Lydia.
Scott frowned, obviously upset by the man being treated for his wounds. "That's not a rabbit Stiles."
Stiles shrugged. "Okay, but this is good news, right? He got up, so he's not dead. Dead guys can't do that."
"Stiles - I did that."
After that was said, everything became silent. Stiles eventually let go of Eleanor and the students returned to their seats, a strict demand from Mr Harris. Allison happily smiled at Eleanor as they began working on a practical, and Eleanor furrowed her eyebrows in confusion.
"Why are you looking at me like that?"
Allison's merely leant forward, making sure that a certain boy behind them would not be able to hear the conversation. "Stiles, huh?"
...
and Jaden followed the two boys through the lunch queue and then to their seats in the cafeteria, sitting down silently as if no one wanted to speak of what had gone on in the past few hours.
Stiles was the first to bring it up. "Dreams aren't memories."
The sentence seemed to be the spark of a conversation. "Then it wasn't a dream. I'm positive something happened last night, and I can't remember what."

"What makes you think Derek has all of the answers?"
"Because during the full moon, neither him, El or Jaden changed. They were in total control while I was running around at night attacking some totally innocent guy!"
"You don't know that Scott." Eleanor chimed, taking a bite from her apple as he stared at her.
"I don't not know it! I can't go out with Allison tonight, I have to cancel."
Jaden rolled his eyes at his friends panicked state. "No, you're not cancelling, okay? You can't just cancel your entire life, we'll talk to Derek. We'll figure it out."
Suddenly, a loud snap sounded from the table all four friends were sitting on, and they all looked up to find Lydia smiling down at them. "Figure what out?"
Her questioned seemed to catch them all off guard, but considering Eleanor has started to get use to Lydia's constant stream of questions, she answered for everyone. "We were helping Scott pick out what he's going to wear for his date with Allison."
The three boys turned to look at Eleanor, smiling widely in appreciation at her attempt to save the conversation, which seemed to work as Lydia squealed in delight, sitting down next to her.
"Thank god! I am not sitting at home watching lacrosse videos again so if the six of us are hanging out, we need to think of something fun!"
"Six of us?" Scott and Eleanor questioned in unison.
Lydia nodded, rolling her eyes at the group as Jackson walked up behind her. "Yeah, Scott, Allison, Jackson, Jaden, me and you!"
Jaden cringed and raised his hand sarcastically. "My brother and I actually have to visit our uncle. Sorry."
Eleanor glared holes into her brothers head before turning to look at her strawberry blonde friend with the same expression. "And I..."
She glanced around the table, landing her eyes on Stiles whom was silently drinking his water in peace as she nodded, making up her mind. "And I have a date with Stiles."
As the sentence fell from her lips, the table went silent and the only thing you could hear was the chatter in the cafeteria and her best friend choking on his drink as he digested the information. Eleanor herself didn't want to say it, of course she didn't. This past week had been hell and she needed Stiles and he wasn't there. However it would be the only plausible option in this scenario, as it would be something that both Scott, Jaden and Allison would agree to.
Scott, Jaden, Allison and Lydia all widened their eyes and stared at the two. "You two are going out on a date?"
Eleanor turned to look at Stiles pleadingly, whom didn't see a problem with lying. Maybe now he can properly apologise to her. "Yeah, we're going on a date. Tomorrow. Together, just us two."
Lydia sighed, nodding suspiciously as Jackson sighed. "Well, now that that's out of the way, get up."
His demand seemed outrageously rude and Eleanor scoffed. "And why do I have to get up?"
"Because I want to sit there."
"Jackson, there are no other seats for me to sit on." She pointed out incredulously and he laughed, slamming his tray down in front of her.
"Then sit on Stilinski, the one you're going on a date with. Just get up." Eleanor rolled her eyes at his suggestion, however Stiles just shrugged and pushed his chair further away from the table, giving her room to squeeze on his lap.
She thought it over in her head, and after realising she didn't really have much choice, stood up and sat back down on her best friend, trying to ignore the suspicious glances Scott and her brother were giving them both. At that moment in time, Eleanor could not look at Stiles in the same light she had done in previous years. She was still undeniably bitter about what had happened with her elder brother and undeniably sad about his lack of support during Laura's death.
"So, I hear it's some kind of animal attack. Probably a cougar." Danny spoke up, subtly taking the attention away from Stiles and Eleanor as she thanked him silently with a smile.
Jackson shrugged. "I heard mountain lion."
Eleanor and Lydia scoffed at the same time. "A cougar is a mountain lion!" Lydia corrected him as Eleanor muttered 'dumbass' under her breath. Every single head on the table turned to stare at the red head and her newfound spark of charisma.
However, she covered her mistake with a laugh. "Isn't it?"
"Who cares? The guy is probably some homeless tweaker that was going to die anyway."
Eleanor narrowed her eyes at the imbecile in front of her. "God, you couldn't be any more inconsiderate if you tried."
"I don't see what you mean?" Jackson questioned and Eleanor rolled her eyes.
"Try pulling your head out of your ass. It may come as a surprise to you, but not everyone is an asshole."
Stiles coughed awkwardly as Lydia stared at her brunette friend, silently begging her to stop the argument she was having with her boyfriend. Eleanor merely looked away from her and let Stiles snake an arm around her waist and place his hand on the table, showing everybody his phone.
"Actually, I just found out who it is. Check it out." We all watched the video intensely as the screen showed a vaguely familiar face to both Scott and Eleanor. The tape ran its whole length before Stiles snatched the phone back and pushed it back into his pocket, keeping his arm around his best friend.
"Wait a second, I know this guy."
Allison looked at her boyfriend with confusion. "You do?"
Eleanor widened her eyes. "We both do! He was the bus driver when Scott and I used to take the bus back to where his dad lived."
"Why did you go to Scott's dad's place?" Jackson asked, staring at the pair of them, wanting answers.
"Scott's dad isn't exactly great company. I went with him so he wasn't alone. Why do you have to be so damn nosy?"
To prevent yet another arising argument from developing, Lydia sighed and leant against her hand on the table. "Can we talk about something less depressing? How about we go back to talking about tomorrow night?"
"So we're hanging out, like the four of us? Do you wanna hang out, like us and them?" Stiles' grip on Eleanor tightened as they awaited Allison's next words.
She shrugged, smiling lightly at him. "Yeah, I guess. Sounds fun."
Jackson groaned lowly at her answer, causing Eleanor to resent him even more than she already did. "You know what else sounds fun? Stabbing myself in the face with this fork."
Eleanor smiled sinisterly. "Want some help? Pass me the fork and I'll do it for you."
"Stilinski, control your girlfriend."
Stiles coughed, sitting Eleanor down on his lap firmly. "She's not my-"
"How about bowling Jackson? You love to bowl." Lydia suggested, cutting off Stiles' comment about Eleanor as Jackson scoffed, narrowing his eyes at Scott and Allison. "Yeah, with actual competition."
"How do you know we're not 'actual competition'? You can bowl, right?" Both Stiles, Jaden and Eleanor widened their eyes, staring at one another in pure terror for their friends' answer.
"Sort of." His reply was weak, small and lacked any glimpse of confidence needed to shut Jackson up.
He laughed eagerly. "Is it a sort of, or a yes McCall?"
"Yes." Scott answered almost immediately. "In fact, I'm a great bowler."
...
", you're a terrible bowler!" Eleanor reminded her friend almost instantly as they exited the cafeteria. Stiles and Jaden nodded in agreement.
"I know! I'm such an idiot!"
Stiles chuckled. "God, it was like watching a car wreck. I mean, first it turned into the whole group date thing, and then out of nowhere the phrase comes."
"Hang out." Scott stated dryly.
Eleanor furrowed her eyebrows. "What's wrong with the term 'hang out'?"
"You don't just 'hang out' with hot girls, alright? It's like death. Once it's hanging out, you may as well be her gay best friend. Scott, you and Danny can start hanging out!"
As Stiles continued to explain, Eleanor's eyebrows raised and she crossed her arms over her chest, feigning annoyance. "Stiles, we hang out."
The three boys immediately stopped at her statement and Scott and Jaden turned to look at Stiles, smirking as they watched their friend try to figure out what to say. His eyes widened considerably and he scratched the back of his neck, something Eleanor knew he did when he was nervous.
"I - uh, that's not what I meant. I mean, you're hot - beautiful even. I was just, just trying to - you know?"
The whole sentence barely made any sense, however Eleanor could not help but blush as she caught the compliment 'beautiful', covering it with a laugh at flustered Stiles. She had confused herself, she was supposed to be mad at him and Scott, she wasn't supposed to be feeling like this.
Jaden smiled and turned to face the pair. "Oh yeah, and what about your date? Huh, when we're you going to tell Scott and I about this?"
"Yeah, I mean, that came out of nowhere! And then, Eleanor, you decide to legitimately sit on Stiles, in front of everyone! I was mind blown."
Eleanor glared at the two boys whom we're teasing. "We're not talking about that now."
"How is this all even happening? I either killed a guy, or I didn't." Scott questioned, confusing himself by thinking of this mornings events in detail as Stiles scratched his head, not at all interested in Scott's distress.
"I don't think Danny likes me very much. Do you think I'm attractive to gay guys?"
Ignoring Stiles, Scott continued. "I ask Allison on a date and now we're 'hanging out'. You and Stiles are going on a date, I make first line, and the team captain wants to destroy me and now - shit now I'm late for work!"
Before Eleanor and Stiles could say or do anything to protest, Scott grabbed Jaden by the wrist and dragged him down the hallway and into the parking lot, demanding that he drive him to the veterinarian clinic. That being said, the other two were left alone.
"He never answered my question." Stiles muttered, and although Eleanor found it quite hilarious that Stiles seemed so serious about such a peculiar question, she smiled at him.
"Well, at least you're attractive to me. Who cares what Danny thinks?" Without a second thought, Eleanor strutted away from her best friend, because there was no way that she would stick around for his reaction. She was embarrassed she'd even said it.
...
drive home from school was uneventful and she was met by her best friend and two brothers stood on her front porch when she arrived back at the house. Scott seemed desperate for answers and Derek and Jaden seemed reluctant to help.
"I know that I got you arrested, and that we basically announced your return to the hunters. I also have no idea what happened to your sister, but please help me figure out what I did?"
"So, you think you attacked the driver?" Derek clarified as Scott widened his eyes, leaning forward in curiosity.
"Did you see what I did last night?"
Derek chuckled and shook his head. "No."
Scott scoffed. "Can you at least tell me the truth, Derek? Am I going to hurt someone? Could I kill someone? Will I kill someone?"
"Yes, yes and probably. Relax Scott, we've all been worried about this sort of stuff before." Eleanor chimed in, shutting the door of her car as she walked up the steps to the porch, startling the boy as he widened his eyes.
"Have you killed someone before?"
Eleanor rolled her eyes. "No, I haven't. Look, Derek can show you have to remember, and we can show you how to control the shift, even on a full moon."
"But that's not going to come for free."
Scott groaned. "What do you want?"

The boy who fell in love with a tree
This is a story about a boy who fell in love with a tree… A story about powerful people changing the rulebook to stack the odds and line their pockets… I aim to create a story that will transport us so we get a glimpse of what that boy felt. The first 4 Chapters might be classified as a prologue depending on how you look at it. The boy quickly grows and the story really starts when the System arrives on Earth. I’m trying to achieve a relatively slow power progression and guide what we learn at a pace following the people in the story. There will be fighting but It’s more focused on base building. The MC is not all-powerful and all-knowing but he has some significant advantages. I’m trying to create a universe that makes sense in its own context. Much of what you will find, are my own world views, in a magnified way, as to make it for interesting fiction. The story took a life of its own when I started to write and I’m really happy with it. Not all of the tags I have marked will immediately be applied. There is stuff planned for far in the future such as the Sci-fi tag. There might be some cursing and gore but it is not very often. -------------- English is not my primary language, so I ask everyone to be forgiving. If you see a glaring error I would appreciate a msg but it is not feasible to fix everything. And if the story offends you, I wish you happiness, reading what you enjoy. ------------- Img link: https://unsplash.com/photos/EwKXn5CapA4
