《Fandom Imagines and Preferences V》Robbie Jennings- Overly Invested (h)

You'd never thought much about how other people perceived you.
Of course, you knew that not everyone was going to like you, but neither were you going to like every person that you ever met.
What you had never planned for, however, was liking someone who another person also liked.
You remembered when Robbie and Tom had come to your school, all the girls in the school instantly flocked towards them – they were attractive obviously and neither of them had girlfriends.
There wasn't a point that you had actively sought either of them out, but you just seemed to keep bumping into Robbie.
You bumped into him around school, at his Mum's shop, at the beach – pretty much everywhere and it got to a point where you genuinely met up with each other after a while.
He'd given you his number after a little bit so the two of you quite often stayed up late texting each other – it didn't do wonders for your sleep pattern, but it was making you happy.
However, one of your friends Georgia also liked Robbie and she was trying all these different scheme type things to get his attention.
You hadn't quite managed to tell her that you and Robbie were getting close, but you also didn't know how to.
The two of you were pretty much seeing each other and had been since the Autumn half term – with it now being almost Spring.
Neither of you had asked the other out but you pretty much knew that you were exclusive, it was comforting in a weird sort of way.
Robbie had offered to walk with you after school, as you were heading back to his for a bit of a movie night because it was a Friday.
You'd walked out of school with your friends but smiled when you saw Robbie waiting for you.
He stood up off the wall he'd been leaning against when he saw you and slung his bag over his shoulder properly.
Turning to your friends, you smiled a little nervously before speaking to them. "I'll see you guys on Monday okay. I've got some plans for tonight."
They all nodded slightly confused but watched as you caught up with Robbie and took his hand.
"Hey, you, how was your day?" you greeted him.
He smiled, squeezing your hand as you walked. "The usual sort of boredom, but I've been thinking about what we can do tonight."

"Do tell."
He chuckled. "I was thinking you could stay over?"
You were surprised at his suggestion and the surprise must've been evident on your face.
"You don't have to if you don't want to," he quickly told you. "But I just thought it would be a nice thing to do."
A smile replaced the surprised expression on your face, and you circled your other hand around his arm. "I'd love to stay over Rob, as long as no one minds."
"Mum is out with her new boyfriend tonight, and Tom never cares so we'll be all good."
When you two got to the shop, Tom was already working behind the counter.
"Has Mum already gone out?" Robbie questioned his brother, who nodded in response to him.
Tom smiled at you before answering. "She's gone away for the night with him, they've gone to Brighton apparently – she was looking forward to it."
"It's good that she can go away, we all know how hard she works in here," you commented causing Tom to agree with you.
When a customer came in you and Robbie took it as your opportunity to disappear up to the flat that was above the shop.
The flat was pretty big, considering that it spanned over a couple of shops in the street and they'd just been knocked through.
Robbie took you to his room and whilst you dumped his things, he went to his wardrobe.
He pulled out one of his t-shirts and came over to hand it to you. "You could put this on if you wanted to," he suggested slightly sheepishly. "I thought you might want to get out of your uniform."
It was sweet that he wanted you to wear one of his shirts and obviously you wanted to as well.
You reached up to kiss his cheek after you'd grabbed a pair of leggings out of your bag. "I'll go to the bathroom to change."
Unbeknownst to either of you, as soon as you had caught up with Robbie from your friends, they had followed you to his shop.
Jas, Ellen, Rosie and Georgia were all downstairs and were grilling Tom as to where Robbie was.
"We want to see Robbie," Jas told Tom as she crossed her arms.
Tom sighed. "He's upstairs at the moment, and he's busy."

Georgia groaned loudly and stared at Tom. "Just tell him to come down, it's not difficult or anything."
Even though they were all being very irritating, Tom knew that they wouldn't leave until he got Robbie down there, so he reluctantly went upstairs whilst leaving them in the shop.
You were just coming out of the bathroom as Tom came in.
"Is everything okay?" you asked him, heading to Robbie's room with him.
He shook his head, clearly somewhat irritated. "Your friends are downstairs, demanding that I get Robbie down there to talk to them."
Of course, you were surprised as you didn't think they'd follow you.
When Tom opened Robbie's door, Robbie was getting changed but he still spoke to Tom.
"You need to go downstairs, Y/N's friends want to talk to you."
Robbie nodded and so Tom went back to the shop whilst you leant against the doorframe.
"Why are they here?" Robbie questioned out loud, but you just shrugged.
He came over to you after putting his shirt on and pulled you into his arms.
"For the record, you look super fit in my shirt," he whispered in your ear making you blush.
You giggled and hit his chest lightly. "You should probably go down there."
He nodded but took your hand in his, leading you back downstairs with him.
Once you got there all four of your friends were there, Ellen and Rosie didn't seem all that bothered, Jas had a bit of a smile on her face, but Georgia was glaring at you.
Robbie kept a hold of your hand when you tried to pull away and you both walked over there.
"What do you guys want?"
Georgia stepped forward towards Robbie. "I want to ask you to go on a date with me."
"Why?"
"Because I like you," she told him, and he sighed a little bit.
He looked at you and smiled, before turning back to Georgia. "I'm sorry Georgia, but I'm going out with Y/N and I'm really happy with her."
"Y/N never even told me about you two!" George exclaimed and she turned to you. "You knew I liked him, I really liked him, but you still did this.
You sighed and felt Robbie squeeze your hand in silent support. "I'm sorry Georgia, you didn't know but I had a crush on Robbie too," you admitted to her. "I never told you because you had your heart set on Robbie, but then we just kept bumping into each
other and we have so much in common and it just went from there."
"So, are you two together or what?" Ellen questioned, and you looked to her, but she gave you a thumbs up, so you knew she wasn't upset with you.
Shrugging, you looked to Robbie. "We haven't quite-"
"Yes," Robbie interrupted you. "We are."
Georgia shook her head, looking upset and then turned around and left.
Jas sighed but she didn't follow her. "None of us are angry with you Y/N/N," she told you with a smile.
"Georgia dragged us here," Rosie chimed in. "She wanted to find out what was going on."
You nodded, knowing that you hadn't gone about it the right way. "I should've told her, but you know how she can be sometimes."
They all agreed with you, before giving you hugs and apologising to the boys.
Eventually they left presumably to follow Georgia, but Tom just looked at you in surprise.
"What the hell just happened?" he asked as he laughed.
Robbie laughed as well making you laugh a little bit. "I don't even know Tom, I really don't."
Once you'd all calmed down you and Robbie made your way back upstairs, and you went to sit on his bed.
"I'm sorry Rob," you apologised as he came to sit next to you.
He shook his head, pulling you into him. "Don't apologise for your overly invested friends."
You leant against him and relaxed for a moment before remembering what he had said whilst you were all in the shop.
Sitting up, you looked at Robbie causing him to seem somewhat confused.
"Did you mean what you said downstairs? About us, you know, being together."
Robbie chuckled and nodded. He then leant forward as he placed his hand on your cheek and kissed you properly.
When he pulled away you were surprised, you had kind of kissed before but never like that.
"I know it's taken me forever to ask this," he stated as he laughed airily. "But will you be my girlfriend?"

You'll see a few similarities here between this story and some existing stories, at least initially. There's a lot of inspiration drawn from both MoL and Re:Zero, though in terms of pathos and darkness, this story leans more towards the latter. Be warned, it is something of a slow burn. The main character will grow and become powerful, but a theme of this story is that power comes slowly and often at great cost.
