In the small town of Woodsboro, a group of teenagers begins being stalked and targeted by a masked serial killer a year after the brutal murder of a local woman Maureen Prescott, mother to twins Sidney and Katherine Prescott.

Sidney is going through a rough time dealing with problems such as the anniversary of her mother Maureen's murder, as well as her boyfriend wanting to lose their virginity to each other but most importantly trying to keep her twin out of trouble and in line.

Katherine, on the other hand, wants nothing to do with the memory of their mother and can often be found doing rebel things and making all the wrong decisions, she can often be seen as detached and bitchy, but she knows those are just her coping mechanisms.
