《SCIAMACHY - the conjuring》chapter eleven - know

Georgianna's calloused hands stacked away the fresh baked cookies, cleaning the counters along the way. Her back was turned, unaware of what was happening behind her, the grandmother was too engrossed to even cast a stray glance that way.
She didn't bother where her granddaughter might have been, as for the girl wouldn't dare to scamper elsewhere. Her guesses exceeds on the child back with her parents or rather in her room though, that is a doubt itself for she knew what had happened in the last week.
The couple, however, had been packing files in neat drawers. Doing a few adjustments here and there, before leaving their office in silence. They passed the monitors where the cameras showed each room in a round-like view, sets of headphones lay flat on the counter the same set they used in the Perron case.
Lorraine suddenly felt cold, her fingers numbing and a sharp intake of breath escaped her lips. She held Ed's hand making the husband abruptly stop and turn to look at her, "What's wrong love?"
"Ed. . .do you feel cold?"
"No, why? Is something bothering you?"
His worried tone made Lorraine look up from the ground, eyes scanning each other and reveling in the uncomfortable sense. The room perceived such tense and quiet, it felt as though you were sitting at the back of a bus on a porous rainy day, alone with the bus driver. Nothing to it screams comfort, it almost felt torturous.
One of the cameras clicked, shots after shots sounded from the living room as the adults were taken aback by the sudden movement. Flashes bounced off the walls, each vividly illuminating the room. There was only one explanation for this, seeing as both the couple had investigated countless of cases it can only mean that something triggered it.

Ed and Lorraine wasted no time and rushed to the living room where the scene occurred, Georgianna scurrying behind them hearing the sudden bursts of light. The sound almost gave her a sudden heart attack, it wasn't exactly loud but just enough to bleed your ears with sudden squeals.
Flash after flash resonated against the ceiling and walls, as if lightning bolts poured non-stop from the sky. Each click made Ed and Lorraine's heartbeat quicken in pace, they hastened their march each step gliding them across the room swiftly until they were standing face to face within it.
Just as their foot closed off the perimeter separating the walls, it all went silent. Everything stopped, soundless, unmoving, even their breath stood still. In the middle of it all was their child, stooped low in the ground, crouching. Her hands took refuge of a red crayon as it fell out of her palms in half, the wax slightly melted from the warmth Lia's hands carried.
She rubbed her eyes, glancing at the atrocity her fingers created. A piece of clean white paper lay flat on the small glass table, though it felt rather wrong to call it that. For the paper was nothing but white, before it was but now it was covered in crimson wax, things were scribbled on the flimsy thing.
The child looked up catching her parents gaze, it was filled with prominent fear.
"Mommy---" Lorraine was quick to hug her daughter. She quickly checked if the child was hurt, turning her arms and face back and forth looking for any sign of a cut or a bruise, "Sweetie what happened?" Crouching down, Ed picked up the crayons that spilled around the floor and placing the bunch of crayons on the table.
Georgianna stood in disbelief, her eyes scanning the room until it landed on the piece of paper on the small coffee table. "Hey Lorraine dear, you might want to check that out."

Lorraine followed Georgianna's fingers trailing towards the disfigured sheet. Picking it up, her fingers caressed the thing carefully, "I can't read it---Lia did you write this?"
"I-I think so. . ."
"What do you mean you think so?" Ed asked softly, studying his daughter's expression. "Well, I felt something earlier. . .and I th-think I closed my eyes---and I don't remember what happened then."
"A vision," Her voiced trailed off, looking back at her husband with a knowing glance. "Oh sweetheart. . ." Lorraine hugged her daughter once more, while handing the paper to her husband.
"Can you read it love?" Ed didn't hesitate, he almost immediately took the paper from his wife. His eyes landed on odd markings, the texts being scrambled and it was overall a mess.
"Bee. . .beel---uh. . .pho. . .phom---" He squinted his eyes reading the obscured font with great difficulty, sighing at the end as he can no longer distinguish the letters that followed. It was covered by the mass amount of the red crayon, if it hadn't been from the wax's texture, it would've been mistaken as blood.
"That's alright," Lorraine gently smiled at her husband, him returning it and kept the paper in his pocket. Lorraine noticed the vacant yet wide-eyed look on his face, the clairvoyant observed how his stance couldn't stand still, he kept fidgeting.
"What is it hon?"
"The cameras. I'm going to go see what it took," He made his way towards their study, his feet cleverly avoiding the wires that snaked their way on the ground. "Wait! I'll come with you---"
"Sweetheart, stay with nana okay? We'll be back in a sec."
Both Ed and Lorraine came in their office and settled between where the monitors sat. He took the roll of tape that cascaded and almost reached the floor, popping it into a thin slot and watched as it did its own magic. A picture immediately pops up, showing Lia sitting down and simply drawing.
Ed clicked a button, changing the slide next and watched as photo after photo began to move. He continued doing so until Lorraine placed her hand on his, "Wait hon, go back. . ."
"And. . .there---" Ed stopped, he watched his wife softly gasp at the picture. Blurred was one way to describe it, but as their eyes soften and adjust, slowly they realized something. It abides behind their daughter, looming over from the back and watching with a smile on its face.
