NO POV
In a library Sarada was looking through various books. She then managed to find the one she was looking for. It was a book about the Uchiha clan. She sat down and opened the book.
Sarada: The knowable Uchiha clan, it's bloodline ranks among the most honorable. Many highly scaled ninja hail from this family. Their ability to wield the sharingan is their most notable trait. Even in the clan, the eye of the sharingan awakens in a very few members. This enables them to see through taijutsu, genjutsu, and ninjutsu.
Sarada continued to read through the book. Through out it she learned about the sharingan and how it was activated along with the mangekyou sharingan. She turned to one page and found a list of people who were apart of the clan. Almost all of them were crossed out.
Sarada: Due to a tragic event the entire Uchiha clan lost almost all of it's lineage. At the current time there are only three known members still alive. One of which is Sasuke Uchiha and his only child.
Sarada took off her glasses as she started to tear up. She went up to the man at the front counter to ask is she could get any information on her dad. Unfortunately any knowledge on him was restricted. Sarada left the library and leaned against the wall. She then slide down all the way to the ground.
Sarada: Great, what am I suppose to do now?
???: What's with the sudden interest in the Uchiha clan?
Sarada looked up and saw Obito standing in front of her.
Sarada: Obito, what are you doing here?
Obito: I saw you in the library asking about your dad. To be honest I'm surprise your just now interested in all of this.

Sarada then realized something, Obito was a member of the Uchiha clan. He would be her best bet at learning more. She had even heard that he once trained with her dad.
Sarada: Obito I need to ask you something?
Obito: What do you have in mind?
Sarada: How much do you know about the Uchiha clan, and is it true you met my dad?
Obito: Sorry, I'm not really allowed to talk about that stuff.
Sarada: Like you're one to follow rules.
Obito smirked.
Obito: True, lets talk about this somewhere more private.
Obito led Sarada into an alley.
Obito: So what do you want to know specifically?
Sarada: Have you met my dad before?
Obito: Yeah, it was for a short time only. He was only here to help me with my sharingan.
Sarada: So you have the sharingan?
Obito revealed to her his three tomoe sharingan.
Obito: I unlocked this when I was pretty young. They never knew how though. Most of the time it's unlocked through traumatic events. The only thing that happened to me at the time was the death of my mom.
Sarada: What was my dad like?
Obito: He showed no emotion and talked in an emotionless tone. But I'm pretty sure if he talked to you it would be different.
Sarada: What happened to the Uchiha clan? I know it was wiped out, but what specifically happened?
Obito took in a deep breath, his eyes showed that he was being serious.
Obito: Secret got out that the Uchiha clan was planning on betraying the village. So naturally they had to stop them. But it wasn't Anbu that killed them all, it was a member of the Uchiha clan.
Sarada's eyes widened.

Obito: This single member managed to kill everyone, all except two people. Your dad and my mom. This person decided to spare Sasuke, meanwhile my mother managed to survive his attack but barely. Her injuries placed her in a coma but luckily she pulled through. Anything else?
Sarada: Yeah, what's this super important mission my dad is on?
Obito: To be honest I don't know either. He may be hunting down threats to the village or trying to unveil something big. Either way only a few people know.
Sarada: Thanks, this helped a lot.
Obito: Any time kid, now get home it's getting late.
The next day Obito was wandering around the village, enjoying his favorite piece of literature. He sensed someone was standing in front of him. He looked up and saw Sarada looking at him with a stern look. He put his book away.
Obito: Okay, what do you want to know this time?
Sarada held up a picture. It was Sasuke with his old group, consisting of Suigetsu, Karin, and Jugo.
Sarada: Who are these people?
Obito took the picture from her and looked at it.
Obito: Come on, you know what to do.
The two were then in a nearby alley.
Obito: From what I heard at one point Sasuke left the village. These were the people he gathered along the way.
Sarada: Who is the girl with the glasses?
Obito: I think her name is Karin, where did you even get this?
Sarada: I found it hidden behind a picture frame. Do you think...that woman could be my real mom.
Obito: I doubt it, while Sasuke isn't normally friendly towards people he did actually love your mom.
Sarada: Then why are no records of my birth in any of the hospitals within the hidden leaf?
Obito: Most likely at the time your mom wasn't within the village and gave birth elsewhere. Dont ponder on this, your mom and dad love each other. And he loves you too.
Obito left while Sarada stayed there. She wouldnt stop this until she got a clear answer.
Obito POV
Surprisingly Sarada didn't come back with more questions. I highly doubt that she already gave up. Didn't bother me that much though. My dad left to go on vacation and there have been no new recent missions so I'm using this time to kick back and relax.
I resumed walking around the village while reading. Along the way I came across Shikamaru, who decided to talk to me.
Me: Hey sensei, where have you been?
Shikamaru: Just seeing Naruto off, he had to leave for something important.
Me: What was it?
Shikamaru: Can't tell you. I remember though after he left Boruto arrived, said his dad forgot his lunch. Then Sarada appeared and offered to take it to him, weird thing though she was awfully determined to do it thought.
Me(thought): She wouldn't use that as an excuse to leave the village would she. Then again she is his daughter. But she's not that crazy. But if she really is and gets questioned on it later, she might mention how I told her STUFF THAT I WASNT SUPPOSE TOO! THEREFORE I WOULD GET IN TROUBLE FOR GIVING OUT FORBIDDEN INFORMATION! I'M ALREADY IN ENOUGH TROUBLE AS IT IS THIS IS THE LAST...
Shikamaru: You okay Obito?
The whole time I was thinking I hadn't said anything.
Me: Oh yeah I'm fine.
NO POV
Obito quickly ran through the trees, he had to find Sarada before she did anything reckless.
Obito: God dammit Sarada where are you!

On the Road to Elspar (Book 1)
The year is 1329. The Huntress' War has entered its tenth year, inflaming competing nationalisms and pitting the Confederacy of Caldrein against one of the continent's superpowers, the Tenereian Union. Desperately outnumbered, the Confederacy has relied on the prowess of its famed Caldran mercenaries, with highly-trained and experienced warbands returning from foreign conflicts to the defense of their homeland, and it is on their backs that Caldrein has successfully mounted a valiant defense for a decade. But they are losing, and day by day, with all the grace of a sledgehammer, the vast Tenereian armies take one more bit of Caldran territory, one footstep at a time. Sixteen-year-old Neianne from the village of Caelon has submitted herself to Faulkren Academy, one of the centuries-old institutions established to train the next generation of Caldrein's elite soldiers of fortune, to learn the ways of wars for three years before embarking upon the defense of her country. Her dryad family once hailed from reclusive woodland communes isolated from Caldrein's complicated mainstream society, and her upbringing leaves the shy village girl unprepared to suddenly train alongside other apprentices from backgrounds as low as the dirty slums of Caldrein's cities and as high as the halls of aristocratic power. Yet the war is eroding the norms and traditions that the Caldran people have long considered part of their national mythos, and the tensions within the confederacy that have long simmered under the surface - race, class, community, identity - are slowly but surely dividing its people, and Neianne must grow and discover who she really is, even as the war that she is steadfastly training for comes to its inexorable end... On the Road to Elspar is a fantasy quest - a work of interactive fiction wherein readers get to vote on what happens next at critical junctures - that is the first entry in a story that follows Neianne of Caelon, which first began on July 20, 2016. Originally a three-part in medias res prologue to a larger story titled On the Elsparian Road, it was eventually decided that this section - which covers Neianne's three years at Faulkren Academy - become its own independent story due to length, structural, and accessibility reasons. Despite this being a reader interactive work of fiction, due to logistical and verification concerns, voting will only be counted on its thread on the forum Sufficient Velocity, where this story originally began. As such, the content here on Royal Road serves as a story-only archive. You are, of course, entirely welcome to enjoy On the Road to Elspar as a conventional work of fiction, just as you are welcome to comment, discuss, and provide critique. But if you would like to participate in the voting, then I would be honored to welcome you on Sufficient Velocity. To facilitate accessibility and to ensure the best reading experience, this story-only version of On the Road to Elspar will be updated at a periodic pace, even though further content exists, so as to not overwhelm new readers on Royal Road. If you enjoy this story, wish to binge it, and/or want to participate in voting immediately, you may of course read all additional content via the link provided above. This paragraph will be removed once the content on Royal Road catches up with what has already been posted in its original thread. Cover artwork by DreamSyndd.
