"Princess! Tanjirou!"
You glanced in the direction of the familiar nickname. Inosuke and Zenitsu were standing by the group of adults. Behind them was two other people, around the same age as the rest of their group.
Suddenly, you were tackled by Inosuke. His form squished you as he picked you up. Hugging the hell out of you. "Nice to see you too... Inosuke." With a grunt, the boy released you. A small chuckle and the sounds of sniffling made you glance at Tanjirou.
Zenitsu was hugging the hell out of him, crying into the green shirt Tanjirou wore. The situation caused a small chuckle from you. "At least you didn't get the snot..." Your laugh grew louder but was cut off by loud voice.
"Oi! Stop whining you weirdo!" A voice echoed from the group. Turning your head, you spotted a boy with ash blonde hair and a demonic face... The one next to him seemed to be a bit wimpy to you. Wild fluffy green hair. The look in his eyes was similar to Tanjirou's. That kind look, one that can be a light in the dark.
Inosuke glared at the blonde, "No one calls him a weirdo but me!!" You took a step back. The green haired boy didn't even blink an eye when the two started a verbal battle. "You demonic Hedgehog!" That one retort made you snort with laughter.
That's when Tanjirou noticed that the green haired one was walking towards them. He rubbed the back of his neck, a sweet smile tracing his lips. 'Why do they smile with the same warmth?' You thought.
"I'm sorry about Kacchan... He gets out of control sometimes." You waved off his apology, knowing Inosuke was the same way sometimes. "By the way, what type of quirks do you have? I saw your sparing."
Midoiya took a step closer towards you, looking at the blade resting on your hip. You cocked a eyebrow, confused on what he meant. "You mean my breathing style?" Midoriya shook his head aggressively, now making 'notes' with his finger and hand.
"Where did that ice come from, why was there vapor coming from your mouth? What does the sword do? Who made it?" He rambled, green eyes sparkling with curiosity. You gulped slightly, not sure of what to say.
Tanjirou, on the other hand, was getting anxious with another male standing so close to you. A odd scent of filled your nose, "Why do I smell caramel?" Your question made Midoriya's eyes glow even more.
"You have two quirks!? Just like Todoroki, Interesting." With Tanjirou having enough, he stepped forwards. "Our sense of smell isn't a 'quirk'... We have always been like this." You glanced at the crimson haired male standing next to you, a odd look in his eyes made you feel strange.
"No, no regular human can have a sense of smell that good without it being a quirk... Unless-" The male started to ramble, speaking too fast and complicated for them to understand. Soon, Zenitsu regained himself and joined the conversation. "Uh, sir?" Zenitsu poked his shoulder, snapping Midoriya out of his muttering. He let out a small embarrassed chuckle before turning back to you.
With your thoughts now back in order, you asked; "Why is it so interesting?" The green haired male got a little closer, now more excited. "I haven't seen anyone use a sword that makes Ice and water! I want to know how it works."
You took a step back, the brightness from him making you feel out of place. Without warning, Tanjirou pulled you against his side, his hand resting on your waist. This action made Midoriya fall forwards to which he merely laughed it off and steadied himself.

Meanwhile, you were a blushed mess. The hyper awareness of Tanjirou's arm around your waist made your mind fuzzy. You didn't have the heart to ask for a explanation from the boy holding you. But, knew by now he never did anything without a reason.
"My bad, but I wanted to know since I hadn't seen anything like it before." You glanced at him. Everything was so different in this world...
Tanjirou watched him carefully, making sure that Midoriya didn't cross a mental line he made. It made him extremely uncomfortable that he was so close to you. "I guess that's understandable... Try it."
Slowly, you walked him through the steps of the breathing technique. Once the hard part came, he bent over in pain. "Ow! You do this every time!?" You gave a small chuckle. "Actually, we do it all the time."
Midoriya's eyes grew with adoration. "DEKU, stop talking with them and go home!" Kacchan yelled, now walking away from Inosuke who wore a triumphant grin. You glanced at Inosuke, who didn't seem to want to the fight to end.
As a result Inosuke yelled out a taunt. "You giving up!? You chicken!?" Deku turned around to see Midoriya sweating in his spot. A small curse underneath his breath. Kacchan turned around with a vein popping out of his head. You could see him clenching his fist in anger.
"What did you call me? Dipshit." Kacchan growled. You took a step back not wanting to get into it. Grabbing Tanjirou's and Zen's hands, pulling them away. Midoriya was giving you a questioning look.
"Should we stop them...?" Tanjirou asked. You glanced at the Two boys now going at it. A small smirk pulled your lips. "Five more minutes."
Your answer made the three boys with you laugh. However, you were watching the boy brawl it out. Once five minutes had gone by, you called Inosuke to the group. "Okay! Inosuke!" The smoke cleared just to see Inosuke pinning Kacchan down with a arm pinned behind his back.
"Let go of me you freak!" Inosuke looked up at you and shot up off him and ran to your side. "I think we should get going." You sighed, making sure the little demonic demon didn't run after Inosuke.
"It was nice meeting you all." Midoriya said before offering you a hand. However, Tanjirou grabbed it before you could. A fake smile traced Tanjirou's lips. "W-well... Thank you!" With that, the green haired boy walked off.
You hadn't seen him act like that before... It looked almost Jealous?
~*~
You plopped down at the table in a new place. Keigo had given the teens a apartment that he owned a floor below to stay at until they could go home. The things they owned were already were already in the house already.
Zenitsu and Inosuke ran around the area while Tanjirou set Nezuko down. You walked over to the first bedroom, throwing yourself onto the bed. Your exhausted self felt the softness of the sheets. It wasn't long before you felt yourself drift off into a dreamless slumber.
In the dead of night, you felt the bed move. Although you were sure it was a dream. A warmth coated on one of your sides. Humming, you faced the warmth. Soft whispers echoed into the air, close to your skin.
"I hope that you know... That you mean the world to me..." A warm hand brushed against your cheek, removing the hair that fell into your face. Unknowingly to you, it was Tanjirou...
Resting himself on one hand, he gazed at you. The tips of your hair cupped and swirled on your cheeks. It made you looks angelic to him. Every part of you was perfect to him. You were the fire in him, pulling out different sides he didn't know he had. That fire was different than a normal one that others hand. It grew each time his skin was flush against yours. Igniting within them both when everything around them grew cold.
"Meeting you that day was fate," The image of your small form curled up in a dirty haori pushed against a wall. He wasn't scared of you like so many others were, he wanted to understand, to be your friend. "Being your friend was a choice." He whispered his thoughts softly into the darkness of the room. He ran the back of his finger down your cheek, feeling the warmth.
"However... Falling for you was bound to happen." Tanjirou shifted himself, laying down next to you. "You are one of the few people... I would die a thousandths times over for."
You had melted his heart, slowly learning to trust and love again once his family was gone. He threw away the negative contentions that came with loving a best friend. Taking that chance to run after you. Towards the light that illuminated your features. He didn't care if you had grown up beside him like a sister, it made the friendship blossom that much more.
"Maybe... That's why I love you so much, (y/n)..." You slowly drifted from a dreamless slumber to hear Tanjirou's sweet words. Your arms curled around him, wanting him to stay where he was.
"Tanji-Kun...~" He jolted slightly no really exspecting for you to speak so suddenly. You shifted so that your back faced him. "Why are you... Talking this late?" You mumbled half awake. In response, Tanjirou snaked a arm underneath your body while the other lazily rested over your waist.
A small hum escaped your lips at the contact of his body against yours. "Just talking to myself..." Tanjirou kissed the exposed part of your neck where the large T-shirt you wore failed to cover. Your body tensed at the contact before you managed to relax.
"I-Is that... so?" You stuttered, mentally cursing yourself for stuttering at all. Tanjirou inhaled your sweet cherry blossom scent it sending him further into intoxication. His arm pulled you firmly against him so every inch of your backside was pressed against his.
"Yeah... But, I'd prefer this..." He breathed onto the nape of your neck. "To be able to kiss you... Hold you..." You shut your eyes, feeling your body start to squirm when he bit down leaving a love bite behind. Your breath started to catch into your throat at the contact.
The beating of your heart was out of control at this point. At the point of no going back to sleep... Tanjirou kissed your ear, moving your body so he could look down at your features.
"... Take you for my own..." Tanjirou hovered above your quivering lips. Your arms snaked up and around his body, pulling him down. The small kiss became more passionate with each second until his tongue pressed against your lips asking for access inside. You happily obliged to his wish.
Both of your tongues met in a electric dance until you separated in a string of mixed saliva. The two of you noticed how dark each other's eyes were, showing the desire you showed for each other.
A loving smile pulled on Tanjirou's lips to which you returned. It wasn't long before the two of you were met in a dance that neither of you could ever explain.
Meanwhile, a portal opened above the dark city. Blood seeped through, coating the demon in it. Slowly, he fell through it. The demon's broken abdomen twisted and turned creating a thick slopping sound. Inosuke and Zenitsu were knocked out on the couch, the TV on at a low volume.
The news woman fixing her mic before talking. "Breaking news: mysteries of a new trail of murders. The killer hadn't been sighted any where in the city, and is very dangerous. If you're going out at night, please do not go alone or stay at home."
Inosuke shifted away from the TV just as Nezuko got out of her box, glanced at the TV. Carefully, she watched. "Far as the Heroes know, all victims have been ripped apart and some eaten." Nezuko shifted, barely remembering what the demon had looked like.
"Pro hero,: Endeavor is on the case, but it is advised to stay home. Be aware of a guy the with white hair and disheveled figure." Something snapped within her head, now knowing that this was the one they were looking for.
~•~
You shifted, feeling something watching you. "Wake the fuck up! You've got work to do!" Startled, you fell from the bed, the blanket becoming entangled with your limbs.
"Get up! The one you guys been looking for has made a move." After managing to pull the blanket down, you saw that it was in the dead of night. "Taj I think it was...?"
Standing at your bedroom door was Hawks, in the outfit that you had met him in. Tanjirou grabbed the blanket from you as you got up.
"Did you have to scare us awake?" You yawned, stretching your limbs. Keigo merely laughed at your extreme bed head. "Yes, the other two are ready to go."
Standing, you pushed the pro hero out the door and shut it. "Thank god... I don't have to be in these weird clothes anymore." You yawned, walking over to the dresser. You began to dig through the clothes until you had found your set. You felt a pair of eyes scanning you, even though you knew it was just Tanji. Secretly, he loved how cute you looked in a large shirt like that. So cute, at least to him and made him want more of you. (If you know what I mean) He stared at all the little marks he made and the way you walked, a little sore. Though, you'd never admitt it.
Walking into the bathroom, you stripped the large shirt you had slept in and began to get dressed again... kindly ignoring the bruising forming along your neck.
When all that was left was your Haori, you walked back out. You were met with Tanjirou with no shirt on. Unknown to you, you were staring. His chest exposed like that had you utterly distracted, a small amount of drool dripping down your chin.
Tanjirou took notice and placed his Haori and shirt on the bed. Slowly he walked over to you, wiping off the drool from your chin. He took your chin, tilting it upwards.
"You're drooling there (y/n)." He teased. His comment made you snap out of it. A red blush seeped across your cheeks. "I-I was not..." You crossed your arms, turned your back to him.
Tanjirou took the chance and wrapped his arms around your waist. "Come on~ Admit it, you were drooling." Him whispering your ear made you shutter. "I was not." You muttered, now attempting to reach your sword. However, you took Tanjirou down with you, making him fall over. He thumped to the floor a silly look on his face.
With a quick giggle, you tossed the rest of his clothes over his face. A small laugh escaped his lips as he removed the clothes from his face. "What was that for?" You looked down at him and stuck your tongue out. "For teasing me? Yeah, that's it." You hummed, strapping your blade to your hip.
"Come on, you know I like the face you make when I tease you." He sighed, now starting to pull on the rest of his clothes. "Yes, but it makes me a mess. That part, I'm not fond of Tanji." Walking over to Nezuko's box, you gave it a tap to let her know to come out.
When she was out all the way, you grabbed her clothes from the dresser and helped her into her normal outfit. However, you kept her hair the same. It was rather cute in your opinion. The two of you walked back out to see Tanjirou fully clothed this time.
A small smile traced on your lips. "Ready?" You asked, holding Nezuko's hand. Tanjirou glanced at you as he placed her empty box on his shoulders. "Yup!" Tanjirou opened the door to see Inosuke poking at Hawk's wings and him looking rather annoyed by it.
This time... We can't get split up. "Guys, Right now in our planning time. Pay Attention!" You ordered. The two boys stopped fooling around and joined the small group.
"Zen, did you fight Taj before you came here?" You asked, looking at the electric yellow haired boy. He gave you a small nod. "Y-yeah! It was super scary but Inosuke managed to wound it but it knocked us both backwards." You tapped your chin, 'it's good that they fought him, that way we know to avoid the portals'
"THAT COWARD! HE NEEDS TO FIGHT ME!" Inosuke screeched, putting his hands on his blades. Hawks tilted his head, confused slightly. "Mind explaining?" Tanjirou crossed his arms, thinking about it for a moment. "You know of someone that can use Portals or teleportation? It's something like that. But somehow he must have ripped through to this universes by opening too many at once." Keigo thought of the ghostly looking guy from the league of villains, those types of quirks are rare enough, now a man eating demon was in this world.
"As Tanjirou said, with this ability he split us up and attempted to kill us off one by one." You explained, now thinking about what happened before you were launched into this world. "Okay, if he can open portals, then how would you get home when he's dead?" Hawks asked, holding his jaw in thought,
"Hmm, according to this world's rules, we don't belong here. So once Taj is removed we should hopefully be brought back." You took a large guess, there was no guarantee that your group could even get home at all.
"Okay, that makes absolutely no sense. But in order that you don't get attacked by any villains while out, I'm sending three of UA's students with you." Hawks spread his wings, starting to walk towards the glass door. "And those three would be?" Tanjirou asked. Something in the back of your head told you who it might be.
"Oh, you'll see." Hawks said, falling from the balcony.
~*~
"AGAIN!? ANY MORE WITH THIS PIG BOY AND I'M GONNA GET PISSED OFF." Bakugou screeched, explosions going off in his hands. There was a new person that you hadn't seen before, half white and half red hair with a scare on the red side. He seemed fairly unaffected by the way Bakugou acted. Zenitsu screamed again and hid behind you, quivering like a child. Midoriya was also there with them, wearing a green outfit.
"Bakugou, there is no need to see them as your enemy. We are merely here to assist them." The new guy said. He crossed his arms, looking at the five before them.
"Like Todoroki said! No need for violence!" Midoriya put a hand up in front of the explosive male. This made you instinctively use your ability. A small sliver glow emanated from around him, making him freeze in place. "DOES IT LOOK LIKE I CARE! H-HEY WHY CAN'T I MOVE!?" He screeched trying to rip free. Normally to use this, you just bite your lip or slit a small cut on your hand to use it. Same with your blood art.
"Because I stopped you, calm down. This is no time for games. Listen closely. Taj looks like a normal human, just like Nezuko here. But his dark skin and white hair is the give away you're looking for." You explained, still holding Bakugou back. You didn't need another explosive person around. Inosuke at least knew when to control himself.
"I will warn you, do not attempt to fight him. The people of this world have no way of killing him." Tanjirou said, taking a hold of Nezuko's hand. "Why is that?" Todoroki asked. His eyes examined the way you all held yourselves. It seemed like you all did this often.
"With enough force, everything dies!" Bakugou screeched again. Meanwhile Midoriya seemed to be taking his invisible notes again. "Not EVERYTHING!" Inosuke shouted, pulling out a blade. He was certainly raring to go. "With demons, only the sun, and our blades can kill him. All you would do is mange to blow him up but a moment later would r-regenerate." Zenitsu explained, now feeling more comfortable around the three.
"Why your swords? Is there something special about them?" Todoroki asked, now taking in everything he could from what he was being told. Inosuke pointed the blade at him in a questioning manner, "You can't be serious! These blade absorb sunlight! of course they're the only thing that can kill a demon!"
You turned to Midoriya and snapped, getting his attention. "Is there a flower called wisteria in this world?" You asked. It was a way of keeping these guys from being eaten. "You mean decoration in most flower shops?" He answered, now thinking about it too. "Yes, Get some of that if you can and put it in your... Whatever those are." You pointed to the odd outfits that the group of three was wearing. Just then, you decided to release Bakugou. He merely hissed a curse underneath his breath.

Sword System Academia
2/17 NOTICE: I'm putting this on hiatus, possibly permanently. I didn't want to spam with an "update chapter", so hopefully here and in the story blurb will get enough eyeballs. There are a couple reasons for ending SSA for now. 1) I wrote the next chapter but wasn't happy with it. I've been less and less satisfied with SSA's quality the more I thought about it. Part of the reason is... 2) I am seriously thinking about trying to publish some novels to help pay the bills, since I don't have my other source of income anymore. I have never asked for anything from SSA readers, no money, not even a review or rating. SSA is written for fun to amuse myself, primarily, and I would kind of feel bad actually charging someone money for something as unserious as that. I don't think it is good enough to ask anything in return. To use an analogy from music, SSA is more like a jam session with a bunch of friends. You're just chiling and having fun playing some music. I mean, if you are Mozart or even Eminem, your jam session is good enough to sell, but for an amateur beginner like myself, haha, no. If I want to publish something, I feel like I need to go the proper route of practice and rehearsals, which might be more similar to a classical concert performance. With SSA, I work from worldbuilding notes and a loose outline, but what you are essentially getting is the first draft with lots of so-called pantsing. Pushing out a web novel like this also means it is very difficult to go back and improve things without breaking everything else downstream. I wanted to try this "jamming" approach, as it was a good way to teach me about another aspect of writing, but to move forward, I think I need to hone my "classical" techniques, which emphasize rewriting, or at least, revising outlines. 3) While I intend to try to make $$$, my actual current goal is to "get gud". I've spent a lot of time recently trying to understand the self-publishing industry, and I'm pretty sure I can make some money by using short-term strategies with my current amateur skill level. But I've seen too many authors come and go/burnout, and really, the only way that I think I can enjoy writing and still make money on a long-term basis is to become a better writer. And the next step for me, which I haven't done much before, is to spend more time on rewriting and outlines. That is pretty much antithetical to the way SSA is developing. I've always been kind of 20/80 plotting/pantsing, but I want to spend a lot more time outlining before I even start writing. SSA jam sessions don't really fit my goal anymore. If you're curious about what's next, read on... Among other regrets, I regret not finishing SSA. It's the first story I've dropped, but then again, it's the first web novel I've attempted, so I suppose that's not a surprise. I don't think traditional web novel formats suit me that well. The whole SSA story I had loosely planned (beyond a first book or major arc) is way too large as well. Big story = good for neverending webnovel with Patreons, bad for penniless and fickle writer like me. I am currently outlining a complete trilogy to another story in great detail. I want the story to end concisely, and I also want the chance to really spend a lot of time on the full outline to spot pacing problems, character issues, lost themes, and so on. I'll still share this story on RR. What I intend to do is finish book 1, flash-publish the whole thing here for a few weeks, then publish on the big Zon. Repeat for books 2 and 3. The upcoming story will be about crafting heroes. The backdrop is an isekai-like setting, where elves will summon humans to their world as heroes, but the whole hero crafting business is still in its infancy. The elven mage researchers are figuring out how to imbue heroes with power, while the heroes are trying to figure out how to use the powers that they gain. Humans are the best hero templates because they are blank and have no intrinsic magic. Or at least that what the elves thought. The human MC has his own secrets... There will be some similarities with litrpgs, but I would call it more a progression fantasy or gamelit story. For example, the stats are very low, at least initially. Say we have a stat called Str. Going from Str = 1 to Str = 2 is a huge deal. Also, going from Dex = 0 to Dex = 1 is an even bigger deal. I guess you could call it a "low-stat litrpg", haha. Also, the heroes won't be gaining stats simply by killing things or leveling up. You can't increase stats arbitrarily, either. There will be rules to how stats can increase, and how they work with each other. The elven mages will be figuring out these rules in order to craft stronger and stronger heroes. Some inspiration will be from cultivation magic systems, but there won't be overt cultivation, at least for now. A theme I really want to explore is the idea of interactions. That includes things like hero crafter vs hero, tactics vs strategy, skill synergies, racial interactions (dwarves, elves, etc), and son. Yeah, so hero crafting. I'm super excited about this project and venturing into publishing. If you want to check out the upcoming story, you can follow my RR author profile to see when it drops here. Finally... THANK YOU TO EVERYONE! I'm very sorry that SSA is stopping, but I hope at least some of you will find the next story at least as enjoyable, if not more. Thanks to all the readers who gave SSA a shot. Big hug or solid fistbump to all of you, whichever you prefer! I hope this message is not a downer but an upper, because I am psyched!! -purlcray -------------- BLURB: Talen, youngest Master of the Koroi, makes his way to the Empire's capital to salvage his clan's fate. But the bustling city has few opportunities for the traditionalist. For the old sword clans are fading. With the rise of alchemy, gold can purchase strength that ordinarily took years of training to cultivate. Sword artists, once rare and accomplished, are quickly growing in number, especially among the wealthy noble class. Even with such alchemy, though, no one has advanced to the rank of Grandmaster in countless years. Talen's true dream is to walk the path of a sword artist to the very end while fulfilling his clan duties. And then the Swordgeists return, fabled founders of all sword arts, gods who had touched the world long ago and vanished. These myths turned into reality warn of a coming threat. Alongside this warning, they issue an invitation to the Sword System Academy, a path to power beyond the mortal realm. But first, they will hold an entrance exam... Story notes:Sword System Academia blends elements of western and asian fantasy such as xianxia and litrpg. I took parts from different genres I enjoyed and twisted them into my own creation. There will be an explicit system, both of the litrpg kind and the hard(ish) magic kind, but it is embedded within an academic structure that will develop over the course of the story. This is my attempt to design a unique type of system, the System Academia.
