《BREAK A LEG | VKOOK ✓》TWO | HANGOVERS & REGRETS

Waking up that morning wasn't easy for Jeongguk.
He woke up this morning with a hangover and a heavy heart. The hangover being the least of his troubles.
The sun shone brightly today, a complete contrast to Jeongguk's mood today. Clouds were out of sight, nothing except the glistening sun displayed itself in the sky.
Jeongguk laid motionless in his bed, his pillow damp from all the tears he shed before. His dull headache had found its way through to make Jeongguk feel horrible than he already was.
Jeongguk yawned, grabbing lightly at his head from the pain.
"Fuck." He mumbled.
Usually Jeongguk loved mornings. He'd walk into the dining hall and have Namjoon crazily waving at him when he entered, greeting him. His adorable dimples showing off as he smiled, it was the best part of Jeongguk's morning.
But now that Namjoon and him were broken up, there was nothing to look forward to anymore, dull mornings being the norm for Jeongguk now.
Jeongguk brought himself to sit at the edge of the bed, still groggy. He stood up and staggered to the closet, looking at himself in the mirror.
Jeongguk's hair was dishevelled and his dark circles were very prominent. You could see the dried tears on his cheeks, Jeongguk looked like a mess. Gazing deeply at his reflection, Jeongguk's mind wandered back to yesterday. The worst night of his life.
Tears started to prick his eyes at the thought, he quickly rubbed them off, not wanting to think about anything that happened.
"Y-you're better than this.." Jeongguk whispered to himself, staring into the mirror. He truly wanted to believe his own words but the heartbreak he was experiencing was too great.
Overreacting or not, Jeongguk felt worthless, Namjoon was the first boyfriend Jeongguk ever had. The first person to ask him out, the first to take his virginity.
And now, it was all over, Namjoon cheated on him and Jeongguk broke up with him right then and there. There was nothing that they could do to fix this.
Looking at his reflection, Jeongguk still donned the same outfit as yesterday, an oversized sweatshirt and ripped jeans. It was a very basic outfit.
He sighed to himself and changed out of his clothes, wriggling his way out of his tight jeans and slipped on some black sweatpants and another oversized sweatshirt.
Jeongguk made sure to carefully peel his socks off, tucking them away safely in a drawer. Once he was done he glanced back at his reflection, his hair was still messy but Jeongguk couldn't care less.
He rested his hand against the mirror, closing his eyes for a minute. "You're better than this.." Jeongguk repeated, desperate to believe himself. Jeongguk bit his bottom lip harshly in an attempt to stop himself from crying.
He opened them again, breathing out slowly. 'Don't let him think he hurt you.' Jeongguk thought, hitting his own chest lightly to suppress his tears.
His attempts were proven to be useless, tears dripping from Jeongguk's doe eyes. He stumbled back, his back hitting the cold concrete wall as he slid down to the floor, crying softly to himself.
Jeongguk hid his face in his knees, shoulders trembling. He tried to stay quiet with his sobs, crying in silence, a deathly silence. All that was heard were the echoes of Jeongguk's sobs.
Jeongguk lifted his head, he caught sight of himself in the mirror, this time, his eyes were puffy, eyelashes damp. Jeongguk sniffled, disgusted with the sight of his miserable self crying.
A soft knock on the door grabbed his attention, Jeongguk quickly rubbed the remaining tears away with his sleeve and got up, walking to the door.

Opening it, Jimin was revealed, standing in his doorway with a small smile on his face though, it wasn't one of those smiles that made his nose scrunch and eyes form little crescents. No, it was one of those smiles that spelt solemn and pain, those smiles he'd give to show someone his pity, it made Jeongguk feel pathetic.
"H-hey.." Jeongguk waved, his glittery eyes looking back at Jimin.
Jimin threw his bag off, stepping closer towards his friend.
"Oh, Jeongguk." He wrapped both his arms around Jeongguk's shoulders, bringing him into a hug.
"Jeongguk, listen to me, don't you dare cry over that pathetic excuse of a man, he never deserved you and never will. If anything, he should be the one crying because he was the one who fucked up." Jimin whispered, playing with Jeongguk's locks.
Jeongguk, though taken aback by the gesture, returned the hug, hooking his arms around Jimin's back. "J-Jimin, I-" Jeongguk tried to say, his voice close to breaking.
"Shh, it's okay- it'll be fine."
Jeongguk tucked his head into the crevice of Jimin's neck, tears broke loose once again, warm tears rolling down as Jimin rocked him from side to side gently as he did yesterday.
"Jimin, I- I want to forget him! I really do but- I just-" Jeongguk hiccuped.
"It's okay, Gguk, take your time," Jimin reassured, drawing circles on Jeongguk's back.
"I just-" Jeongguk breathed. "I just can't.." He mumbled, his voice dropping to a whisper.
"I understand, Jeongguk," Jimin softly spoke. "Letting go is hard but you really need to forget that jerk, you did nothing wrong." Jimin sighed, stroking Jeongguk's hair.
Jeongguk sniffled, pulling away from the hug and gave a smile. Jimin smiled back but this time, his smile was a bit happier and wasn't one dripping with pity. He dried Jeongguk's dampened cheek with his thumb, patting his shoulders.
"But promise me you'll try, okay?"
"O-okay.." Jeongguk nodded, though he was unsure with his answer.
Jimin picked up his bag that he had thrown before and took a water bottle along with a pill out.
"Here, I figured that you'd probably be suffering a hangover as well as heart-break, take some water and Advil, you'll feel better," Jimin said, handing them to Jeongguk, who swallowed the pill almost immediately after receiving it.
"You'll hopefully feel the effects later." Jimin glanced at his watch. "We should go, the lecture starts pretty soon and we don't want to miss the notes for that class if we're late," Jimin said whilst stretching his arms.
Jeongguk nodded and grabbed his bag that he packed the last night before the party, slinging it over his shoulder and walking out of his room, a step ahead of Jimin.
The walk to the lecture hall was very long and silent. Jimin tried to make a small conversation to lighten the mood but the conversation was very one-sided, with Jeongguk mumbling a couple of replies without thought, he was too emotionally exhausted to make small talk.
After a couple of minutes, they walked through the door into the very chatty lecture hall and climbed up the stairs to take their seats, Jeongguk resting his head on the table.
There were students chatting up a storm, most talking about the party last night, others discussing about the latest gossip.
Jeongguk's head was pounding, everything hurt and the added noise didn't help. He felt Jimin rubbing his back, mumbling something he couldn't understand. Jeongguk lifted his head, raising a brow.
"What?"
"I said class is starting soon, Gguk, try to make yourself a bit awake okay? Don't fall asleep." Jeongguk nodded again, ignoring Jimin's completely, putting his head down again and heard a sigh behind him.

A sudden voice snapped Jeongguk out of his daze. "Hey! It's that kid who drank ten cups of tequila yesterday!" Jeongguk jolted his head up. "M-me?" He stammered, pointing to himself.
The kid repeated to his friends. "Check it out! It's Jeongguk! He drank ten cups of tequila yesterday!" Jeongguk turned to Jimin who gave him a nervous smile.
"H-he's not serious, right?" Jeongguk looked at Jimin with a horrified look.
"Um- he could be.." Jimin mumbled.
"Jimin, what did I do yesterday? I remember drinking a but it wasn't a lot was it?"
Jimin looked down, pursing his lips before looking back up again.
"Jimin, what did I do?!" Jeongguk repeated in a harsher tone, Jimin slightly jumped.
"I- um- a-after you found out Namjoon cheated, you-you sort of went overboard and drank like a dozen cups of alcohol.." Jimin trailed, playing with the strings of his hoodie.
"What?"
"I said you drank-"
"Jimin, I heard what you said but please tell me you're joking- I didn't drink that much did I?" Jeongguk said with wide eyes.
"Okay. That was an exaggeration, you only drank like- three cups before I had to drag your drunk-ass out of there."
Jeongguk put a hand to his forehead, groaning. "And I probably attracted a crowd didn't I?"
"I won't say no."
Jeongguk slammed his head on the desk, not even wincing at the pain, he was far too embarrassed to feel anything else but that.
"Look on the bright side! You're going to be known as a legend- it takes balls to be able to drink that much tequila!" Jimin beamed, trying to cheer Jeongguk up but was quickly shut out.
"Ugh- I'm an embarrassment to the human race." Jeongguk complained, tugging at his hair with Jimin giggling, his laughter coming to a quick stop and when a small group of people walked up to Jeongguk and Jimin, the same boy, who shouted about Jeongguk, coming up to the front.
"So, Jeon, how'd you do it?" He asked, the others staring at Jeongguk in awe.
"D-do what?" Jeongguk mentally scolded himself for stuttering.
"Uh- drink like ten cups last night? Duh!" The boy said as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.
"W-well I didn't-" Jeongguk froze, gasping a little.
"What's wrong, Gguk-" Jimin began but then froze as well, eyes widening.
Namjoon walked through the door into the hall, he looked like horrible. His eyes bloodshot, heavy bags under his eyelids accompanying his bloodshot eyes.
Jimin saw how Namjoon caught sight of Jeongguk, he looked like he wanted to say something. So he decided to make an attempt, pushing his way past the crowd in front of Jeongguk.
Jeongguk was visibly shaking when he noticed his ex, he didn't need this right now. Jimin noticed this shot Namjoon a death glare, shaking his head. Namjoon seemed to get the message and closed his mouth, walking away to take a seat somewhere else, the small crowd giving him a look of confusion.
"What's up with him?" A girl scoffed.
Jimin glanced back at the students. "What are you all staring at? Mind your own business, the lecture is starting soon anyway." He snapped.
"Geez, Park, you're such a bore." The boy huffed, walking away with his hands in his pockets with the other students following suit.
"You okay?" Jimin asked, rubbing Jeongguk's back again. Jeongguk briskly nodded, biting his already trembling lip.
Jeongguk was thankful for his best friend, he was always there for him when he needed it.
Well, not always, Jeongguk only met Jimin when he first entered college but the pair grew close quickly.
See, Jimin was Jeongguk's only friend. He was really awkward when it came to talking to people. He only became friends with Jimin as he sat next to him in most of his lectures because he thought he looked nice enough. And well- that's where their friendship started.
The teacher walked into the hall with a whiteboard pen, shouting aloud to catch the students' attention, startling many of them with the sudden noise. "Morning everyone. Let's just get everything started." He spoke, most of the students nodding and preparing their notebooks and pens to take notes from the lecture as the noise went down.
"So, we ended the last lecture talking about complex numbers. I would like to continue that, thinking about the arguments of-"
Jimin turned back to Jeongguk "Are you sure you're okay?" He repeated, voice laced with concern.
Jeongguk nodded once more, not wanting to make his friend worry. Honestly, he wasn't okay. Jeongguk felt like he wanted to throw up. Realising he'd be in the same classes and lectures as his ex made him want it burst into a puddle of tears.
"Okay then.." Jimin whispered, not convinced with his answer but decided to leave it for the sake of it and went back to paying attention to the lecture, jotting down notes.
Jeongguk did the same, messily scribbling down some half-assed notes from the lecture which he honestly couldn't care about right now.
The lecture practically dragged on for the boy, making him inwardly groan as be continued to write down notes. Jeongguk glanced at Jimin's notes which were all neatly organised with some notes highlighted with bright neon colours. He looked back at his notes and sighed. What was the point anyway?
In a matter of time, the lecture was over. Jeongguk let out a sigh of relief as he and Jimin packed up, now heading down the stairs with the other many students.
"Ah. Jeongguk," the teacher called out as Jeongguk was about to head for the door. "I was told to give you this." The teacher quickly walked back to his desk to get the paper, handing it over to Jeongguk.
Jeongguk nodded and took a quick glance at it, not bothering to read the paper and folded it, sliding it into his pocket.
"What's that?" Jimin asked as the made their way out, walking behind Jeongguk and keeping an eye out so Namjoon didn't try anything.
"Nothing important, I suppose." Jeongguk muttered, walking into the corridor.
The pair had soon made it outside, aiming to reach the student lounge since it was a free period, Jimin got out his phone scrolling through it.
"Gguk, I can't go to the student lounge with you, I-I have to.. help clean out the library!" Jimin suddenly blurted out.
"The library? Why?"
Jimin averted his gaze. "No reason!"
Jeongguk raised a brow. "Okay?"
Jimin stared at his feet, a way to avoid eye contact amongst the awkward silence the two shared.
"Oh, would you look at the time!" He cried. "The library isn't going to clean itself, bye!" Jimin said before running off hastily, leaving Jeongguk confused.
Jeongguk sighed, rolling his eyes, he then remembered the paper he was given during class. Reaching in for his pocket, he grabbed the sheet, unfolding it to see a lesson plan.
His eyes quickly scanned the paper, it showed a timetable that seemed to have theatre as one of its lessons, how boring, but why was Jeongguk given this? It must've been a mistake because he took choir-
'Jeon Jeongguk.' It read.
Jeongguk's grip on the sheet tightened, crinkling the edges. He rubbed his eyes violently, making sure he wasn't just seeing things but looking at the name, it revealed to be his timetable.
What?
And out of all classes it had to be theatre? Jeongguk was beginning to think he was cursed with bad luck. First, his boyfriend cheats on him and second, he's been switched from choir, his favourite class, to theatre!
Jeongguk frustratedly put the paper away in his pocket again, he had to get to the bottom of this, even if it's the last thing he'll do.
