《BREAK A LEG | VKOOK ✓》SIX | BURNING HATRED

Jeongguk hated theatre.
No, he needed a better word for it. Jeongguk- he- he loathed theatre.
As if that wasn't obvious from the start. Ever since his first experience in the class, Jeongguk decided right then and there that theatre was the worst possible subject out there.
Was it because of what it was teaching?
Probably not, the classes weren't that fun but it wasn't enough to fuel Jeongguk's everlasting hatred for theatre.
Or was it because of a certain someone in the class that made Jeongguk want to rip his eyelashes out?
Besides from Namjoon, who Jeongguk is still in the process of getting over, there was still someone else who fueled Jeongguk's everlasting hatred for theatre even more.
See, Jeongguk's hatred for the subject had always been a bit unjust, maybe it was because of the time he pissed himself on stage when he was like- six, we'll never know.
But what we will know is the moment Jeongguk that came across a snarky individual known as Kim Taehyung, theatre got ten times worse than it had to be.
Yeah, sure. Seeing Namjoon every day also worsened Jeongguk's day, sleepless nights were becoming the norm for him but there was more anger than sadness in the mix. But Taehyung- oh boy.
Taehyung, from Jeongguk's perspective, was a bitch. From the way he acted, Jeongguk knew from then on that he would hate him. Taehyung seemed cocky, arrogant and rude, all the things Jeongguk hated in a person.
It didn't even help that Taehyung was fairly attractive. Jeongguk's not shallow, but he swore he was going to faint from how close the two were when Taehyung lifted him up by his shirt.
But that was beside the point- Taehyung is a fucking bitch.
Jeongguk sighed to himself, fiddling with the button that controlled the stage lights in the hall. Far too occupied with his own thoughts to be bothered with reality right now.
"Jeon!" A voice boomed, snapping Jeongguk from his train of thoughts. "Stop messing around! You still have a lot to learn." Taehyung walked in, resting his hands on his hips.
"M'not messing about.." Jeongguk grumbled, dangling his leg off the chair as he continued to mess with the lights.
"You're making Lisa do everything, you're supposed to be learning too y'know." Taehyung groaned, stepping towards Jeongguk.
Lisa, who was seated next to Jeongguk, merely smiled. She looked through the glass window onto the stage as she controlled the lights to see how they worked.
Jeongguk rested his head on the chair, spinning around childishly with no care in the world.
"I thought it'd be easier to have you help behind the scenes since you looked like you couldn't act anyway, but you can't even work the fucking lights." Taehyung groaned in disbelief, massaging his forehead.
Jeongguk shot his head up, looking Taehyung in the eye. "Excuse me?"
"You heard me."
Jeongguk glared at Taehyung for like- eight seconds before getting up from the chair and standing up before Taehyung, trying to stare him down.
"What are you gonna do?" Taehyung slyly remarked, smirking.
"I-I'll fucking break your face, that's what!" Jeongguk tried to look tough, standing tall with his chest puffed out acting as an attempt. He wasn't sure how he'll break Taehyung's face but he'll find a way.
"Do it, pussy."

Just before Jeongguk was about to do anything, Lisa intervened. Putting an arm in between the two.
"T-Taehyung, it's okay. It's nothing to worry about anyway." She turned to Jeongguk, smiling again. "I'll teach you with the lights. C'mon!" She dragged Jeongguk back to the chairs, pointing to various buttons and explaining.
"-So you see how this switch controls the lights at the back right? And ooh! Those ones here-" She pointed to the buttons in front of Jeongguk. "-Can change the colour! Isn't that cool?"
Jeongguk nodded. "Yeah. It is, I guess." and continued to listen along, assuming Taehyung had left already. Meanwhile, Lisa's gaze never left Jeongguk, her eyes travelled down his figure. "You know," Her arm started tracing around Jeongguk's arm. "I could teach you a bit more later, my dorm?"
Jeongguk raised a brow. "How could you teach me about lights at your dorm-"
"Jeon! Stop flirting and keep learning."
"The fuck?!" Jeongguk cried. "Why are you still here."
Taehyung shrugged nonchalantly, a hand picking at the skin of his bottom lip. "I needed to see if you were learning correctly." He scoffed, his arrogant smirk still evident in his face.
"Um. Okay?" Jeongguk gave him a look before walking over to his bag and fetching a pen "But for your information, Kim. I'm not into girls so I don't know why you'd accuse me of such a thing."
Lisa's smile dropped, it morphed to a scoff. "Taehyung's right, Jeongguk. Stop flirting, I'm not interested, I'm only here to teach you the basics."
"Um. What?" Jeongguk stood dumbfounded, he quickly looked back at Taehyung, who was chuckling slightly. "I wasn't flirting though-"
"Just sit back down and let me teach you!" Lisa hissed, rolling her eyes.
Giving her a look, Jeongguk eventually sat back down, Lisa going back to explaining, although being a little bitchy with it.
Jeongguk could feel Taehyung's presence behind him, it was uncomfortable to say the very least. He spun on his chair to face Taehyung. He was hovering over him with a hand behind his back and his other holding a pen which he was chewing the lid of. "Do you mind?"
"No, I don't actually, carry on."
Jeongguk clicked his pen and rose from his seat. "I think we're done here. Thanks Lisa." He grabbed his bag, heading towards the door but was stopped when Taehyung blocked his path.
"Why are you leaving?" Taehyung stood with his arms crossed. His dress shirt was tucked neatly into his jeans, making him look more intimidating.
"Class is nearly over, dumbass."
Taehyung glanced at his watch. "We still have two minutes left."
"Don't be like those teachers please for fuck's sake." Jeongguk jeered.
"So what if I am? It doesn't mean-" Taehyung moved ever so slightly to let Lisa leave through the door. "-That we should leave so early. School is about making the most out of your time."
Jeongguk's jaw dropped. "Most out of our time my ass! You just let Lisa through!"
Taehyung smirked, not giving any replies.
"Oh? So that's how it's gonna be, huh?" Jeongguk mumbled under his breath.
Without warning, Jeongguk tried to forcefully open the door, being able to grab the door handle, only to have his hand swatted away by Taehyung and that's when they started their war.

They both fought for the handle, Taehyung grabbed both of Jeongguk's hands with his large ones, keeping them in place whilst his other hand blocked the handle.
Jeongguk desperately tried to wriggle his hand out of Taehyung's grasp, only to bite his lip in pain when he noticed Taehyung's nails digging into his palm and wrist.
He didn't know whether or not Taehyung noticed as he was still smirking, a couple of snarky giggles escaping his lips.
Jeongguk tried even more desperately to get his hand out which resorted into Taehyung grabbing his hands more tightly, his nails digging even deeper.
"Ah-Ah. I'd keep still if I were you." He chucked, waving a finger. "Education is very important, y'know." He playfully remarked.
Jeongguk didn't want to listen, his every nerve in his hands were screaming for mercy. "T-Taehyung." He uttered.
"What now, Jeon?" He snickered, his hand shaking from trying to keep Jeongguk's hands in place.
"I-It hurts- Stop, please." He begged, squeezing his doe eyes shut from the pain.
Taehyung noticed the nail marks he was making on Jeongguk's hands and instantly let go, stumbling back against the door. His expression changed. Jeongguk sighed in relief, finally glad to have his hands back.
He traced over the marks, wincing in pain as he did so, a couple were bleeding. Jeongguk looked up at Taehyung, trying to read his expression, what did it read? Sorrow? Pain? Any remorse?
"Fuck you." Jeongguk croaked.
Jeongguk shoved his way past, he didn't care about Jin calling him from behind, he was too pissed to care. He was still looking down at his hands, rubbing them softly to soothe the pain.
Jin looked over at Taehyung, who was slowly walking down the steps, wiping off any blood remains from under his fingernails.
He walked over, about to place a hand on Taehyung's shoulder.
"Taehyung-"
"I need to go to the toilet."
And with that, Taehyung was gone. Jin sighed to himself, running a hand through his inky black hair. "The fuck is up with those two?"
Taking small sips from his hot chocolate, Jeongguk looked out of the window and thought about what happened earlier.
He placed the cup down, still holding it in his hands and looked at the bruises forming on it. It still hurt when he touched it but it wasn't even the pain that made him so angry, no. It was the fact that Taehyung didn't even apologise afterwards for the incident, it made him think that Taehyung had no heart. What a bitch.
Jeongguk sighed, resting his face on his palm as he waited for Jimin. Actually, Jimin was supposed to meet Jeongguk about fifteen minutes ago yet there was no sight of him.
As if on command, Jimin busted through the door, his cheeks flushed red from the biting cold and a scarf covering his mouth. His eyes scanned the room in search of Jeongguk and once he found him he rushed to the table he was at.
"Jeongguk! I'm so sorry I-"
"It's fine!" Jeongguk smiled brightly. "It's not like this was the like- seventeenth time you were late to coffee!" He cried, voice dripping with sarcasm.
Jimin sighed, grabbing Jeongguk's hand through his mitten-covered ones. "Gguk! I do mean it when I'm sorry! Something came up and-" Jimin swallowed quickly from speaking too fast. "-it was really important so that's why I was late!"
Jeongguk let out a sound when Jimin grabbed his hand, sighing again after. "It's whatever Jimin, just- it really makes me feel like shit when you're late to something."
"I know Gguk, I'm really sorry about that- Woah, what happened to your hands?" Jimin softly went over them. Jeongguk looked down, not knowing what to say. "I- um- it's nothing to worry about. Stop worrying." He mumbled, not wanting to say the real cause for some reason he didn't know.
"Yes, it is!" Jimin looked around the shop hurriedly, spotting an employee. "Excuse me! Hey, sorry but do you have a first aid kit we can use please?"
The employee nodded, agreeing to go into the back to get it. Jimin took off his scarf and mittens, placing them on the table and sat down, looking worriedly at Jeongguk.
"So, are you gonna tell me what happened?"
Jeongguk shook his head. "S'nothing important, Chim. As I said, stop worrying, I'm fine. Really." He smiled warmly to sound believable.
The employee came back with the kit and handed it to Jimin which he thanked her in return. Jimin sighed. "Give me your hand."
Jeongguk did so as Jimin put some cream on the small wounds, making sure to be gentle.
"Fuck!" Jeongguk cried. "That hurts!" He complained, Jimin giving him a look.
"No shit it'll hurt, Gguk. Give me your other hand." Jimin continued to treat Jeongguk's hand, wiping off some open wounds with a tissue. "You really need to take better care of yourself, ooh! They have these cute ladybug bandaids!" Jimin cried, holding one up to show Jeongguk.
"Jimin. You are not putting that anywhere near my body- get it away." Jeongguk cringed, retreating his hands back.
"Oh come on! Why not? Is it destroying your masculine pride?" Jimin grinned, giggling a bit.
"I'm very secure with my masculinity thank you very much!" Jeongguk chided. "It's just- it's weird!"
"Uh-Huh? What's your excuse though? Nobody's gonna care about some twink wearing ladybug bandaids!" Jimin argued, yanking Jeongguk's hand back (though he tried to do it lightly).
"I'm the twink?" Jeongguk gasped, standing up from the table. "You're more of a twink than I am!"
Jimin gasped back loudly, if not more dramatically and slammed his hand on the table. "You take that back!"
Jeongguk tried to stifle a giggle, realising Jimin was messing with him and decided to play along. "And if I don't?"
Jimin paused. "Then I'll- um." His face was blank. "I don't know what I'll do- just wear the stupid bandaids already!"
"No!"
"Yes!"
"No!"
Jeongguk huffed, looking at his hands covered in the ladybug bandaids. Somehow, Jimin won that fight and convinced him to wear the bandaids, though Jeongguk did it begrudgingly.
"Stop being a wimp. It isn't that bad."
"I hate you."
Jimin laughed, laying his elbows on the table and then resting his head on his hands. "Deep down inside, we both know you love me." Jimin winked.
Jeongguk rolled his eyes. "If that's what helps you sleep at night then sure."
They both giggled after, Jeongguk looking out the window again and groaning, dreading his next theatre lesson. Mostly dreading the fact that he'll have to face Taehyung again.
