I stopped abruptly before entering my room and looked back down the hall to see if Draco caught up. He was sprinting down the hall, blonde hair flowing in his own gust of wind and staggering slightly as he ran.
I waited until he got close and zipped into my room. He followed in after me, both panting like dogs.
"You're fast," I complimented.
"I know," he breathed out, still violently panting with his hands over his head.
"Can't you just say thank you?" I rolled my eyes.
"Hm, no."
"We have the whole day. What do you want to do?"
"Whatever you want," he said, visibly breathing normally once again and standing tall.
"Malfoy, this is your home. I don't know what you do around here!"
"We could hang out in my room, go to the library down the hall, or leave the house," he listed.
I was standing with my elbow on the dresser and thinking.
"Wait! How could we forget?" I said excitedly.
"Forget what?" Draco intensely questioned.
"It's Christmas Eve! We should go to a Christmas tree lighting!"
"A what?"
"It's a Muggle thing," I replied shortly while digging through my clothes to find an outfit.
"Go get Pansy and Blaise," I demanded further.
"Uh — no," he hesitated.
"Merlin, Malfoy, do I have to do everything myself?"
He sent an apologetic smile to me and I threw my clothes on top of my trunk that I had just dug to find. I then walked out of the room and knocked on their wooden door. Blaise hurried over to it and opened it. The small hairs on his head were frizzy and his lips were slightly stained red from Pansy's lipstick.
"Get ready," I said shortly. "Dress warm, we have a surprise."
He grunted and shut the door. I heard him recite what I said to Pansy and I went back to my dorm to find Draco holding up a pair of jeans and a sweater.
"Wear this," he said.
I nodded at him and told him to go get ready. He walked out of the room and into his own. I walked into the bathroom, changed clothes, fixed my makeup, and pulled my hair up.
I was satisfied with the look and headed back into my room. I kneeled beside my trunk once more to grab shoes. As I dug through, Narcissa lightly knocked on the already-open door.
"Hello dear, Draco told me you guys were going out. I thought you might like this," she shyly spoke while holding out a silver necklace with a snake dangling down it. I looked up at her and held out my hand. She placed the necklace down and I spontaneous stood up and hugged her.
"You don't know how much this means to me."
"I know that you don't have a good relationship with your parents. I don't even know them, but Draco told me a little bit about it. I just thought — well, it's — it's silly really," she stopped herself.
I backed away from the hug and blinked away the tears that began to form. I shook my head, "I'm sure it's not silly."
"Well, I thought — I thought that I could be some kind of influence or mother figure to you."
I smiled, my insides prancing with joy.
"Thank you, Mrs. Malfoy, no one has ever cared that much," I softly replied.
"No need to thank me and please call me Narcissa. I don't mean to make you emotional either, I just wanted to let you know that you can talk to me, only if you want," she added.

"I appreciate it," I said, while glancing behind the door and noticing Draco standing in front of his bedroom door, with one hand on the trim, and grinning at the encounter with his friend and mum.
Narcissa turned around and nodded at Draco before heading back down the hall. Draco pushed his one arm off the wall and walked back into my room.
"How sweet," he teased.
"Put it on me," I ignored his stupid remark and held out the necklace that his mom just gifted me.
He grasped it from my hands and examined it.
"She used to wear this all the time," he blankly stated.
"What? Why'd she stop?" I curiously spoke.
"Father gave to to her. It probably reminds her of how she doesn't love him anymore," he simply replied.
"Malfoy! That's your parents you are talking about."
"Just the truth. Move your hair."
I took my hands and gripped a handful of my hair and moved it to the side. Draco reach over my head and put the necklace around the front first and wrapped it around my neck towards the back. He then took a couple attempts clipping the back whilst his fingers briskly grazed my neck. I left out a soft breath that I wasn't aware I was holding and moved my hair to it's original position once he let go.
"Thanks," I whispered.
After that moment, Blaise and Pansy's door creaked open and Draco slowly back away to lean against the dresser. I kneeled back down next to the trunk and found a pair of shoes to match my outfit. I sat on the floor, stretched my legs out and placed the shoes on my feet.
Blaise emerged from the doorway in warm clothes with Pansy following right behind him like a stray puppy. They stood there and watched me apply the shoes onto my feet and I sped up, feeling rushed as they stared.
Once I put the shoes on, I grabbed my small purse and jumped up to my feet.
"Where are we going?" Pansy pleaded.
"Surprise," I shortly stated, though trying to come up with a plan of what to do before the Christmas lighting which called for a dark, clear night sky.
Her and Blaise groaned and we all followed Draco out of the house, yelling goodbyes to Narcissa as we exited.
He led us down his driveway and we walked quite a ways to an unfamiliar wizarding city. Men in cloaks bustled around with briefcases while women swayed around with their spouses in skirts and leggings, heading to work or simply having a day off and enjoying the pre-Christmas morning.
I pointed to a telephone booth and Draco led us over to it. There was a phone propped up on the scarlet wall and all four of us crammed in, feeling each other's breaths on our skin.
"There's the Muggle number," I observed, pointing to the small parchment with a sequence of numbers.
Draco picked up the phone and dialed the numbers written: 7438523
The telephone rung loudly as if on a loudspeaker and a robotic lady began speaking.
"Directing to nearest Muggle City."
We sighed and the hairs on my neck stood up as I could feel their breaths against me due to the lack of space in the small telephone booth. Draco set the phone back on it's primary spot on the wall and I shifted slightly after Draco's free arm skimmed mine. Although it didn't do much, as we had hardly any empty room to move around in and shifting just caused me to brush up against him continuously.

The telephone rang again after a dropping sensation occurred so Draco picked it up, though clearly annoyed.
"Arrived," the robotic lady professionally spoke.
We scurried out of the telephone booth and got a few looks from the buzzing crowd. Four teenagers coming out of a telephone booth was an odd sight, but we ignored all the glances and I sighted a giant tree in the park, making a mental note of it's location for later.
"This is close to the city we went to the other day, Y/n!" Pansy examined.
"What should we do until the lighting?" I whispered to Draco all while nodding absentmindedly at Pansy.
"We have to wait?" Draco asked aggressively.
"Yes! It lights up at night," I retorted, as if it were obvious.
He sighed and pointed to a large stadium, surprisingly open and packed on this Christmas Eve.
"You have to have tickets you numpty." I groaned.
"How do you know all of this?"
"Uh — I lived in the Muggle world for awhile after my sister — well, you know. I also take Muggle studies."
"Right."
"Guys, what are we doing?" Blaise questioned.
I looked around and realized that Draco and I stopped in our tracks while bickering. I gazed all over the city and noticed a man in raggedy clothes, holding up four tickets to be bought.
"I'll be back," I shouted while jogging over to the man.
"How much for all four?" I panted.
One hundred bills for all four," he replied.
"How about fifty?" I bargained.
"Ninety?"
"Sixty?"
"Seventy five?"
"Deal," I said while rummaging through my purse to find the stack of cash from the fair.
I handed him the money and he traded me for the tickets. I called out a thank you and made my way though the wild crowd to where my friends were standing.
"I have tickets!" I sung loudly over the crowd.
"That was quick," Draco shouted over the noise.
"Let's go."
I led them all over to the stadium gate. I then handed the worker the four tickets and she nodded, allowing us to walk in in. Silver stands, similar to the Quidditch stands, though lower on the ground, were filled with thousands of smiling Muggles and miserable children who were forced to come with their parents.
The game had already began and I rushed to our seats, glancing at the ticket number and stand number every couple of seconds.
"What sport is this?" Draco asked.
"American football, of course!" My eyes glimmered are the field.
"Why is it American?" Blaise questioned.
"Boys, you're killing the mood. It's called American football because football is already a sport that Americans call soccer. Americans had to be extra and call what Europe calls football, soccer. So now we have to call this sport American football," I rambled.
"Huh?" Blaise and Draco confusedly spoke in sync.
"This sport is called American football to us. America just calls it football. There is a sport that you kick with a ball that we call football and Americans call soccer," I tried dumbing it down.
"That's confusing," Pansy said.
I nodded and turned back to the game happening below us.
"Can you explain what is happening?" Blaise innocently asked.
"Merlin. Basically two teams set up on the line, one team has the ball in possession. The team with the ball can pass, throw, or run the ball. The point is to score in the end zones on each other's side of the field. You get four try's and if you don't make it to the other side in three tries, you have a hard choice to kick it into between the to yellow posts or pass, run, or throw again as your fourth try. If you make it in between the posts you get three points, but if you make it into the end zone you get six points and that's called a touchdown. If you end up getting a touchdown, you have a chance to make one or two extra points depending on if you want to kick it into the posts or run into the end zone which gives you two. All the while the other team is tackling your players and there are also fouls that go along with it," I explained briefly.
"I sort of get it," Blaise said while furrowing his eyebrows in an attempt to absorb the vast information I threw at him.
"I'm lost." Pansy chuckled.
"I get the gist," Draco vaguely replied.
"Perfect, now stop asking questions and watch."
After awhile of more questions, I finally had enough with them.
"Would you like to leave?" I snapped after hearing another complaint. Draco placed his hand on my shoulder and whispered to calm down but I threw it belligerently away from me.
"Can we get food first?" Blaise uneasily spoke.
"This was your idea," I snarled at Draco.
"I never complained!" he defended while raising his arms in the air.
"Come on then," I urged.
They all followed me to the small concession stand below the stands.
"What do you want?" I spoke, pulling out the money from the purse.
Pansy said, "I want a slice of pizza."
"Blue snow cone," Blaise barked back at me.
I turned away holding back a laugh at his attempt to be mean while saying "blue snow cone" and glanced at Draco who was staring at the menu.
"I don't have all day, Malfoy," I announced.
"Cotton candy," he decided.
"Great," I muttered while walking into the line.
After standing for awhile, ordering, and then eventually paying, I walked back to the off-brand trio sitting on a silver, bleacher-like bench.
I handed each one of the food items to them and they eagerly devoured it.
"Eat and walk," I said, sounding like a mum ordering her children around. They obviously did, as they saw how infuriated I was. I led them out of the stadium and into the crowded streets and sidewalk once again.
Every few seconds I glanced back as I led us back to a calmer shop where they could sit and eat.
Draco was missing the next time I glanced back and I sighed.
"Go into that library," I yelled at Pansy and Blaise while they digested their stadium junk food.
They quickly scurried off into the building and I turned around, dodging people and setting off to find a certain blonde who managed to escape my eyesight.
After rummaging through the crowd for a few minutes, I gave up and headed back to the quiet library where Pansy and Blaise were finishing off their food at a small table.
"Where did he go?" Pansy asked.
"I can't find him." I sighed.
"Find who?" A familiar voice asked, moving a book and peeking through the shelf behind me.
"Where were you?" I whispered loudly.
"I stopped to look at the jewelry store next door," he blankly stated while placing the book back and walking around the shelf.
I scoffed. "Like you need more rings."
"Frankly, I was looking for something for Hermione," he retorted.
"Well?"
"I found this," he said while pulling a gold necklace with a miniature book hanging from it.
"She'll love it."
"She better; I had to sneak some of that money out of your purse that you grip so tightly," he replied with a smug look upon his pale face.
"Malfoy! Have you never learned not to touch people's things?" I punched him with a medium strength in the shoulder and he winced slightly.
"I couldn't tell you!"
"Merlin, are you guys dating or enemies?" Blaise sighed, annoyed.
"I don't want to hear another word from you!" I pointed at Blaise and stared for a couple seconds in his eyes to emphasize how mad I was.
Pansy sent me an impressed look and I turned back to Draco.
"Don't touch my stuff again, but I have to admit the necklace is pretty," I sternly stated.
"What has gotten into you?" Blaise said.
"I swear, Blaise. I'm going to —"
"No! I'm sick of this," Blaise raised his voice. "You don't get to order us around! You don't get to be mad at me and turn around and forgive Draco just because his stupid necklace is pretty."
"Forgive him? All I told him that the necklace for his — girlfriend — is pretty!" I raised my voice back.
"He stole money from you! All I did was ask questions about soccer!" Blaise attempted to defend himself.
"It's American football!" I shouted, storming out of the library, feeling angry about underlying issues that they had no idea about.
I turned back, still furious, staring through the glass door, and noticed Draco turning to me and began to walk but Blaise began talking and he stopped right where he was. I scoffed at them and walked down the sidewalk while pushing everyone away that got in my path.
"Watch where you're going!"
I realized I bumped into someone's chest. I muttered a sorry and looked up. Muggle George was standing right there, smiling down at me just like he had done when we first met at the restaurant.
