《Blood to Love | 3rd year》32- Love is in the Air

I awoke about an hour after I fell asleep, meaning I only took a short nap. Dinner was over and students were gathered around the building hanging out, doing homework, and whatever it is that students do on a Saturday night.
I sat up and rushed out of my dorm and into the common room to see what everyone was up to at this hour. There was a mass of third years gathered around a girl and I furrowed my eyebrows but made my way over to see what was happening for myself.
"Hi."
Astoria Greengrass was standing amongst the overwhelmingly large crowd and she had just scoped me out.
"What's going on here?" I asked her.
"Well, it seems as if a love potion has been used on Daphne." Astoria sighed.
"Who is she suddenly in love with?"
"Goyle," Astoria said as she gritted her teeth.
"No!"
"Yes! That disgusting dog," she began, becoming visibly infuriated.
"Ok, let's calm down. I'll go find Draco and tell him to sort Crabbe and Goyle out. They used to be friends."
"I'd like to come," she finalized.
"Come along then. Let's not wait any longer."
She whispered a small 'thanks' and I zipped out of the common room in an attempt to find Draco with Astoria speed walking alongside me.
"I thought you hated Draco," she innocently spoke.
"I never hated him, he just got on my nerves tremendously."
"So you're good now?"
"Sort of. I am a little upset about Buckbeak, as you probably know, but he's apologized and he's slowly coming around," I said truthfully.
"So what's up with you and George?" She briskly changed the topic while smirking to herself.
"Astoria, George and I are very complicated."
"So you're not dating but you're not not dating?"
"We are practically dating, at least I think, but we don't have a label or anything. Like I said to Pansy, we won't be going around and making out with other people."
"But I heard you kissed Harry!"
"We were just playing a game," I said nervously, wondering how that rumor escaped.
She nodded but continued following me to the astronomy tower to see if that's where Draco went. Unfortunately once we arrived, the only person sitting there was Neville Longbottom and a small plant that he was mumbling to.
"Hi, Neville," I softly whispered, trying not to startle him.
"Hello. What are you two doing here?" he asked.
"We were just looking for Draco. Never mind that. Are you okay? You seem upset."
"Oh I'm fine!"
"Neville, what happened?" Astoria asked.
"Ginny said she didn't want to hear about my plants because she was too busy practicing Quidditch. She thinks she's going to be professional or something," he muttered.
"Maybe she will. However, if you want to talk to me about plants I will be free tomorrow afternoon," I hinted.
"You want to hear about my plants?" he asked, looking completely astonished.
"Yes, I do. Meet me in the library after lunch and you can talk to me about them up until dinner. I've got to go know but don't forget."
"I'll be there!" he practically shouted as I walked with Astoria back down the stairs.
"You're the nicest Slytherin I've ever met," Astoria broke the silence.
"You're very nice too, Astoria. Don't let anyone tell you different."
"It's just that if someone went up there and saw Neville crying over the plant, they would make fun of him. On the other hand, you make an effort to make him feel better and I love that about you," she complimented.

"Thank you, truly. I make mistakes too though, you don't even want to hear about the amount of pranks I've pulled on first years."
"Why didn't we go to the boys dorms?" Astoria shouted in realization.
"You're so smart!" I said while sprinting back to the Slytherin common room.
We walked passed the chatty group of people who were interrogating Daphne and headed up the boys dormitory. I walked into Blaise and Draco's dorm with Astoria next to me. To my pleasure, the two boys, plus Pansy, were sitting on the beds and talking.
Draco whipped his head once I opened the door and slightly raised his eyebrows once he saw me. Blaise slightly smiled and Pansy simply waved me in.
"Malfoy, I need you," I said, panting, as Astoria and I just sprinted here from the Astronomy Tower.
"I've been waiting for this moment for years," he flirtatiously announced.
"Not like that!" I shouted while Astoria giggled through deep breaths. "You were friends with Crabbe and Goyle. Right?"
"Yes, we are still, sort of, friends now."
"I don't care! I just need to know if either of them like Daphne."
"Goyle had a thing for her last year, green but why are you asking me this?"
"He gave my sister a love potion!" Astoria screeched.
"Astoria, right?" Draco asked her to which she nodded. "Bloody —"
"Malfoy, what did you do?" I shouted.
"That love potion I bought, well it was for Crabbe and Goyle. They told me they wanted it but they were too embarrassed to buy it so they asked me."
He cringed at his own words but I walked over to his bed, grabbed a pillow and started hitting him with it.
"You — bloody — idiot!"
"Stop hitting me!"
He caught the pillow once I attempted for the last time to hit him. I let go of it and shoved his chest so that he fell on his back, though still on his bed.
"Stop," Astoria began assertively. "I just want to fix my sister!"
"Sorry," I stated, realizing that I was wasting time. "Let's go to Snape and get a potion."
She nodded and gestured for me to follow her out to door. I gave one last glare to Draco but eventually followed Astoria out of the dorm.
"You're stupid!" Pansy shouted from the dorm room.
"I know. But didn't I tell you Y/n's life was eventful?"
I grinned at them and jogged with Astoria to Snape's classroom. I knocked on the door and heard a flick of a wand. The door opened before my eyes and Snape gave me another confused look.
I did not want to be here whatsoever after the conversation I overheard, but I was only doing this for Astoria and Daphne.
"What are you doing here, again?" he questioned while narrowing his eyes.
"Goyle used a love potion on Daphne Greengrass," I quickly informed him. "We need an antidote."
He jumped up from his chair and strutted over to his shelf of potions. He grabbed a small phial with a pink liquid floating inside and then he walked over to us and gestured for us to lead the way to Daphne.
We quickly walked over to the Slytherin common room and pointed at the dwindling crowd of third years.
"Out of the way," Snape demanded.
The crowd turned around to argue but once they saw Snape they all backed away and made a path. Astoria walked up right behind him and dragged me along with her.

Daphne was dreamily gazing up at the ceiling and muttering 'Goyle, I love you' to herself. Snape walked up to her while Astoria and I stood back and waited for him to do something.
"Drink this," Snape sighed. "It'll settle the nerves for when Goyle comes."
"He's coming?"
Daphnes eyes lit up brightly and she eagerly gulped down the potion handed to her.
After a few seconds after downing the pink fluid, she shook her head and her face went white.
"What just happened?"
"Goyle and a love potion," Astoria said while hugging her sister as if she was about to die.
"Astoria I'm fine," she assured. "Just a simple love potion, darling."
Astoria continued hugging her tightly until Daphne was getting slightly embarrassed as the crowd, plus Snape, was standing around and watching.
"Astoria, that enough."
Astoria let go of her sister and mouthed a "thanks so much" to me. I nodded and walked out of the crowd with Snape behind me.
Oh no, is he following me? Shut up it's his birthday, be nice.
All these thoughts were rummaging through my head and I could hear Snape cough from behind me. I began getting paranoid. As if Snape of all people could read minds.
I chuckled at the thought and rushed up to the boys dormitory to hang with my Slytherin friends for awhile.
Once I arrived, Draco was smiling. He looked over to me and his smile only slightly fell.
"Come here to hit me?" he asked.
"I'd hit you any day," I joked.
"Come on then," he offered while patting his lap.
"You couldn't handle it."
Draco raised his eyebrows. "If only you knew what I was capable of."
"That was amazing flirting," Blaise interrupted. "Draco is rubbing off on you."
"I can't tell if that's an insult or a compliment," I teased while sitting next to Draco on his bed and across from Blaise and Pansy who were sat upon Blaise's bed.
"Both," Pansy said.
"Pansy, that was rude," Draco said sarcastically.
"That's my job."
Blaise unexpectedly stood up and draped a blanket over his back.
He walked out of the room exactly like Snape and we all giggled at him.
"I can't tell that he's finally showing his personality," I whispered to Draco.
"That's because I'm helping him through his anxiety."
Although that was one of the sweetest sentences that ever came out of Draco's mouth, it made me burst into laughter.
"What's so funny?"
"I just never expected you to say that."
Blaise smiled as he walked back into the room.
"What was that all about?" I asked.
"Just want to live," he simply stated.
"You're alive what do you mean?" Draco questioned.
"I mean that I've been busy worrying all time time. Of course I'm alive but there is a difference between being alive and living. Y/n has taught me to stop caring," Blaise wisely spoke.
"Aw, I'm a good influence!"
"I wouldn't be so sure about that," Draco skeptically said.
"Thanks for your input. However, I have gotten two compliments today on how nice I am."
"Nice?" Draco began. "Are you sure you heard them correctly?"
"I'm going to ignore that. I'm actually going to go surprise George until I head to sleep. You three have fun, but not too much."
They all said bye (except Draco who threw a pillow at me on the way out) and left the dorm and went through the Slytherin common room. It was unexpectedly chilly and I shivered.
I jogged to the Gryffindor common room, which was immensely warm. Fred and George were, like always, selling and testing prank items on the younger students.
"You guys need a shop or something."
George looked up at me and smiled a mile wide. He set his products aside and ran into my arms. I stumbled and confusedly hugged him back.
"I've missed you, darling."
"I've missed you too."
"Come sit."
I walked over to the sofa where him and Fred were all set up and I intently watched them sell their items and ask the students if they would like to test new ones. Some were perfectly fine, though some went terribly.
"Is this safe?" I whispered to George.
"No."
I shook my head at them but continued watching them sell and test the products. Their process was so fascinating but I couldn't help but get caught up staring at George.
"This is our goal. When we leave this dump, we are going to go out and sell products until the day we die," Fred spoke up.
"I think that's an amazing goal," I said.
"Good because we want you in on it," George stated.
"Excuse me?"
"George and I will be running it but we would like you to help out and fill in if we go on vacation or something," Fred explained.
"I'd be honored," I said sentimentally.
"Brilliant," Fred said while grinning at George.
"Alright everyone! We will continue this tomorrow, get to sleep!" George shouted at the students gathered around with galleons in their hand.
There were a few groans amongst the crowd but they all stalked off into their dorms without further ado.
"Now it's just us," George addressed.
"And me!" Fred shouted.
"Leave," George said intimidatingly.
"George you don't scare me, but I'll leave for our dearest Y/n."
With that, Fred winked and exited the common room. I chuckled at their small argument but went back to chatting with George.
"Don't be surprised if I fail my O.W.L's."
"You won't fail! Just study early and you'll be fine. Your mom doesn't expect much of you anyways," I said to which I instantly covered my mouth. That was the worst think I could've possibly said.
"Don't worry, we know. She must get used to her crazy twins and daughter in law," he whispered.
I blushed immediately and he smiled at me.
"What are we?" I asked.
"Human?"
"No, George." I bursted into laughter then became serious again. "What are you and I?"
"Our relationship? I suppose — well — what are we?"
"I don't know. Are we — are we — dating?"
"We are," he finalized.
"Okay, I'm glad we cleared that up."
"Just know that you will never be allowed to call me bae or I will leave you forever," he threatened.
"So we need rules?"
"Rule 1: no calling me bae," George began.
"Rule 2: don't let Ron break us up," I said to which he nodded.
"Rule 3: Fred can still hang around us together." He said it more as a question.
"Of course he can!"
"Rule 4: kiss me," George boldy stated.
"Okay, rule 5," I began, not realizing what he had just said. "Wait what?"
"You heard me."
I glanced into his eyes and then at his lips. He did the same and my stomach began doing backflips. He began to lean in and I followed after him. I closed my eyes and I felt our lips crash together. We deepened the kiss slightly and my stomach continued fluttering like crazy. After a few minutes, we pulled away. Out of breathe and astonished, we smiled at each other afterwards.
"Hm you're better than Fred."
He suddenly stopped and I could see a rush of sadness overpower his previous smile.
"I'm kidding!" I yelled.
"Don't say that," he seriously spoke.
"I'm sorry. I didn't know that would upset you," I genuinely apologized.
"It's always Fred," he dolefully said.
"It's not."
"How would you know?"
"Because I choose you."
A grin formed on his face and we both synchronously leaned in once more for a shorter kiss.
"Adding that to the list," I muttered.
"What'd you say?" he questioned.
"Nothing."
"Go to bed," he said.
"Okay, dad," I sarcastically groaned.
"It's daddy."
I rolled my eyes at him and left before he could say anything else to redden my face more than it already was. I arrived back into the Slytherin common room shortly after and it was full with only a few students loitering around.
I ignored them and made my way up to my dorm. Daphne was gone and I was left with Pansy who was wiping her makeup off and getting ready to go to sleep.
"It's a long list," I simply said as I walked in.
"Who?" she turned around giddily.
I smiled at her excitement for my kiss. "George."
"We are going to need some parchment," she said while pulling a beige sheet of parchment from her bag.
"Hand me that quill." She pointed to her nightstand.
I threw her the quill and she scribbled the four names on my kiss list.
Once she finished writing the names down, she handed me the paper and crawled up into her bed.
"I'm happy for you," she said.
"For kissing people?" I questioned.
"For living, like Blaise said."
"Thanks," I replied while stuffing the kiss list on top of the polaroid picture of Ron and I.
I didn't sleep that night. I was up thinking about the kiss for hours on end and I eventually decided to continue to stay up. An all nighter wouldn't effect me terribly would it? At least I wouldn't have the opportunity to see my sister.
•••
I was completely wrong. When Pansy awoke the next morning, she noticed bags under my eyes and sleep deprivation written all over my face.
"I'm alright," I groggily spoke while forcefully keeping my eyes open.
"Breakfast?" she asked to which I nodded.
It was insanely boring sitting all night and replaying the kiss over. My mind wandered off to a variety of things that I would never tell anyone, especially George.
"Did you not sleep?" Pansy asked stupidly.
"Does it look like it?"
"No," she began. "Did you really stay up all night?"
"Yes I did." I groaned and all she did was nod and lead me to the Great Hall, holding all my weight up with her left arm.
She dragged me to the Slytherin table but dropped me off next to Draco. I absentmindedly laid my head on his shoulder and he shifted uncomfortably.
"Let her," Pansy threatened.
To my pleasure, he became quite still and I made a mental note to thank him for that later. I fell asleep quickly until Draco stood up and I realized that breakfast was over. I sluggishly walked to the Slytherin common room and crashed on the couch immediately.
Blaise decided to stay with me on the couch while Pansy and Draco ran off to do whatever they wanted. Blaise sat and silently read while I slept. If I wasn't asleep I would've taken a picture.
Blaise poked me after what felt likes a few hours of deep sleep.
"Lunch," he whispered.
I was feeling less groggy and my energy was increasing by the minute. I walked into the Great Hall with Blaise and took my usual seat next to Draco.
I ate loads, as I hadn't eaten breakfast.
"What do you guys want to do?" Blaise asked as lunch was finishing up.
"I've got to finish Herbology homework," Draco informed him.
"Remember in second year when you stuck your finger in the mandrake," I said, memories flowing through my mind.
"Don't speak to me," he replied.
"I've actually got to go to the library and meet with Neville."
"Why?" Pansy asked.
"I told him I wanted to hear about his plants," I explained.
She shrugged it off and we parted ways. I made my way to the library and noticed Neville staring at the door sadly, not thinking I would actually come. Once he noticed me making my way towards him, he visibly lightened up and even opened his textbook to show me pictures and explanations.
"I have a Gurdyroot here," he excitedly showed me. "It resembles an onion and Luna gifted it to me. I've taken care of it ever since. Not many people think it's real because they think Luna is looney. I honestly didn't myself but she showed me one day and it was amazing."
I listened intently as Neville explained the functions of the plant and pictures out of the textbook. He was oddly familiar with it but it made me happy seeing him so passionate.
"Isn't it used in the love potion antidote?" I questioned.
"Yes it is!" He proudly nodded.
From then on, he continued describing the different plants used in potions and even I had to admit it was interesting.
It was eventually time for dinner and I asked if he was coming.
"No I think I'm going to stay and do some more research. Thanks for listening, everyone else thinks I'm a burden." Tears formed in his eyes.
"Neville, don't change for anyone," I advised.
He blinked the tears away and I waved goodbye as I exited the library. On my way to dinner I heard a crash from a classroom. I jumped but wanted to see if someone got injured so I rushed in.
I opened the classroom door and saw Draco Malfoy pounding the table and looking terribly stressed. He heard the door crack and turned his soft, dull face into my view.
