《The Victims⦻》44. I saw the slenderman
Advertisement
It all started when I was around 9 in my old house. I turned on the dusty old computer which took minutes which felt like hours to load. I typed YouTube in the search bar. I was watching what any 9 year old would watch at the time. Minecraft lets plays. Then I came across something quite interesting in the recommended section. The video didn't have much views but it was called something along the lines of "slender man the urban legend". I clicked the video and was greeted by a man talking about a new controversial urban legend. "Slender man is thought to be a creature that leads children into forests and kidnaps them. People who have seen him describe him as tall, thin, with no face. People also say he has six tentacle like limbs". Me being a kid I jumped out off my seat and took a walk outside and no this is not the part where I get brutally murdered. I truly believe I am a surviving witness of slender man. Anyways back to do the story. I came back home at around 7:00 pm. I watched TV till around 8:30 pm which was my bedtime. I brushed my teeth and went to sleep. I woke up randomly in the middle of the night to find my self paralyzed and staring at a tall, thin...Slender man! I knew it was him right when I saw him, unable to scream my heart was racing and from a blink of an eye he was gone. Relieved my body somehow shut off and I fell a sleep straight away. When I woke up I didn't tell my parents about the encounter in fear they would take me to a doctor. As day time slowly faded into night time I grew more and more paranoid that I would see slender man again. I went to sleep again to wake up in the middle of the night to find my self levitating. I know this might sound strange but I'm not a hundred percent sure this was slender man. It felt like a ghost was levitating me and while I was scared it felt very pleasureful. I'm not sure what I experienced but I have heard of ghost sex. Not a hundred percent sure if that's true or not but it did feel good. It also felt like slender man was trying to kidnap me. The weird thing was that after the levitation stopped I heard extreme static noise in my head and whenever I felt slender man was following me the static noise worsened. No matter where I was i still heard the static noise. In school when I walked down the hallways and felt like slender man was following me the static noise intensified and for some reason whenever I walked down the hallways little to no people were there. You might think I got the static idea from the game but I actually did hear it. Until about a year passed when one day I had extreme pain in my ears and asked the teacher in school if I could go home. The pain stopped but I still found my self extremely paranoid. Late at night I would wake up on some days and draw crazy stuff. I remember drawing an x on a circle which is one of the famous slender man symbols made by marble hornets but at that time I didn't know who marble hornets was. This leads me to believe this probably is slender mans real symbol. A year later I traveled to Germany to meet a friend and stay over at his place for a week. I couldn't sleep at all because I was haunted by this paranoia for some reason and I would always hear foot steps around his house. This was before I knew Germany was famous for there slender man sightings. One morning I woke up to an extremely tall version of slender man standing on the roof of a house across the street which leads me to believe slender man can shape shift. Also it looked like he had been watching me the whole night but was unlucky to see me waking up in the morning so he teleported some where else to stalk another innocent person. When I saw him I was greeted by that same awful static noise echoing in my head. The static noise continued for the rest of the week I was in Germany. Nothing really happened after that for years. Until for some strange reason I started thinking about slender man again and did more research on him. I clicked on a website on the internet dedicated to slender man that said "warning if you learn to much about slender man he will come after you". Me being me I just thought it was a stupid hook to attract the audience. This phrase was widely known across the internet and I had found out I screwed up. Even as I'm typing this I get spikes of paranoia and I take brakes. I'll update you guys if anything happens.

The Forest Spirit who sought the Gods
After the Gods of Time, Nature and the Elements created this world, they took a rest under the shade of a tree they created. Thanking their creation for helping them back with its shade, they gave the tree sentience, blessed him and called him a friend. Now the Gods are half-asleep, content with only watching. The world has breathed for millenia, and the blessed tree still watches over the forest around himself. The world has changed and his life comes to an end, surrounded by loneliness. Gathering what's left of his strength, he passes his torch on, in the hope of giving a last goodbye to his friends, wherever they may be and whenever they would see. Meet and follow his first and last creation he passes his will to, a one of a kind forest spirit with... abilities (wouldn't want to spoil too much here now, would I?). Curious and cute, he will travel and meet new people, discovering the world he's in, to try and give a last goodbye to the three creation gods in his dad-tree's place.------It's my first time writing a novel! Or anything of the kind, in fact. So bash me as much as you like (within reason, of course).------This will be a world of humans, humanoïds, beasts, magic, and a heartwarming tale of travels across it. It won't always be butterflies, roses and friendship though, heavy moments are there too. Also : depictions of violence, blood and gore, nudity, strong language, alcohol and other classic +17 stuff. To the reader's discretion.

The Core of a Factory
An abandoned steampunk arms factory, in the middle of a conflict torn former state of the Empire it served, gains a soul. This transforms it into a Lord, capable of turning land into power. Beset by enemies on all sides it must figure out how to win the war its creators lost a century ago. This is a progressive Dungeon Core novel (which is to say the core will progress and expand in scale, eventually) across multiple dimensions with different characteristics (e.g. steampunk, magic, mythological). It has rationalist leanings (paragraphs of reasoning) and litrpg leanings (there are stat blocks). The core game mechanical idea is something like "what if different flavors of magic power actually did come from controlling land" and then the story is: "what if there was a flavorless (artifact deck) dungeon core". Chapters will be relatively short (my aim is that in three column format each would fit on a wide screen monitor), the first few chapters - setting up the main character and mechanics - are currently the longest in the entire series. I write chapters in blocks, and then release them one a weekday (M-F; 6 PM GMT, unless RoyalRoad's publish thing screws up) until I run out. There may be a few days of gaps here and there if someone finds an egregious error I have to re-write around or if I am behind. In general though one can read this once a weekend. I may do slight retconns and edits, I'll make sure to put it in an authors note if I do.
