《The Luna's Awakening》Chapter 30

I heard a few gasp from the crowd which was followed by quiet murmurs from the crowd behind me which started getting louder.

"Who is that?"

"Challenge the Luna?"

"Did she say first blood of Rosalyn?"

"I thought Rosalyn's daughter was dead?"

Eleanor's face began to contour into rage."QUIET!!" She roared, commanding my pack to be silent and inserting her Luna dominance into her voice.

"Stephan take her away! She has no right to be here." She ordered. Stephan stepped out of the crowd and prowled towards me, a wicked gleam on his face.

I realised I still had my hood over my head so I pull it off revealing my face. "I have the right to be here!"I said walking towards the steps, towards Eleanor and Sabrina. I didn't dare look at Kian, who no doubt was watching me right now feeling betrayed.

"They," I said pointing to the crowd, to my fellow pack members, "deserve the truth. Tell them Eleanor. Go on. Tell them how you killed my mother. Tell them how you killed Rosalyn. " I shouted so everyone could hear, as I continued to walked up the stairs, towards her. My body trembling with anger now and my voice laced with venom.

The crowd gasped and I felt people's emotions pouring through the pack bond. They were surprised, angry and confused.

This time Paul, one of the members from the werewolf council , spoke up confused and surprised by the sudden change in the situation.

"Hold on, are you the daughter of Rosalyn Everson?" He said as he looked me straight in the eyes for my confirmation.

I was now standing at the top of the stairs face to face with Eleanor, Sabrina, Paul and Kian and Jessen who were standing behind me.

"Yes."

His eyes studied me. "If it's true you should have a Luna mark on your hip. Show us."

I lifted my jumper and shirt up to reveal my marking on my left hip which connected me to my birth mother and the True Luna.

"A full silver moon marking?" he said surprised. I turned to show the crowd that I was telling the truth.

"But how? Only the great True Luna's posses that marking and we haven't had one in hundreds of years. Are you the True Luna?" He asked.

I closed my eyes and opened them. I knew they were glowing bright amber now and surprisingly so was my marking. It was glowing.

"Yes I am. It is also my birth right to be the next successor my pack."

"She is right, Eleanor." spoke Paul looking at Eleanor. Distrust towards her in his eyes.

He held his hands up and addressed the crowd. "The girl is the telling the truth. Before me stands the True Luna and daughter of Rosalyn. Your rightful leader."

I heard an frustrated and angry ear piercing screech, "No! I am meant to be the Luna. You ruined everything, you bitch!!" Screamed Sabrina angrily at me as she started taking slow steps towards me and pointing at me.

"You don't deserve to be the Luna, not when you and your mother both have blood on your hands. A real Luna would not let her pack members die. A real Luna would not be working with the vampires!" I remarked.

The crowd let out confused gasped and murmurs. I saw Nick, Jade, Colleen, Alec and John emerge from withing the crowd and were now standing at the front of the crowd looking at me.

Rick nodded as if saying 'It's OK, we are with you'.

"We will no longer listen to you, Eleanor!" Nick shouted so everybody could hear him as he step forward.

"Stand down, Eleanor." Rick added.

A few mummers of agreement from the crowd followed him. Soon the crowd was beginning to protest as angry shouts and cry's for justice for those pack members who had died, were being demanded.

She looked at Nick and then at Rick, her eyes narrowing down on him making a sudden connection. "You. You're her father. I should have figured. I should have know you would do something like this." she said to Rick, her voice filled with hate. "You were always around Rosaline, following her like a lost puppy." she snickered.

I snuck a glance behind me at Kian and Jessen who looked surprised and in shock at the whole situation. They didn't know what to do, their pack members where also confused as they looked around. They were not familiar with our pack history.

"Eleanor I will have to take this up to the council. Conspiring with vampires is against the wolf law. I cannot go forward with this ceremony." Paul announced.

"NOO". She roared frustrated and angry. She ripped of her jacket and took off her shoes, throwing them aside.

"I am still Luna of my pack and you can't take that way from me!!" she was breathing heavily. Her eyes where glowing very brightly and her voice was becoming deeper. Her wolf side was threatening to come out.

She locked eyes with me. Even though she was human, she acted and looked more like an aggressive animal. Uncontrollable and unpredictable.

"You wanted to challenge me," She laughed but it was humourless.

Her expression darkened, " Well I accept your challenge for position as Luna!!" She roared

I felt a spark of adrenaline coarse though my veins from the acceptance of a challenge. My eyes glowed bright amber again. My wolf dying to take over.

No one could interfere now, it was part of the rules. Once a challenge is declared and accepted, those two competing must go through with it with no interference from either pack. I saw Paul and Sabrina step back cautiously, away from us sensing a big fight about to happen. I caught a glimpse of movement from my left which was where Kian and Jessen stood a few meters away they seemed to be talking to each other. It looked as if Kian was going to walk towards me but his dad held him back, whispering something into his ear which made him hesitate and clench his jaw. Instead he just watch me with uncertainty, worry and curiosity.

Suddenly Eleanor let out a murderous growl as she sprinted towards me snarling. She lunged midair towards me with lightning speed. I braced for her attack but I realised I was in a bad spot. I was standing at the top of the stairs, my back facing the crowd only a few steps away from the edge. I instinctively shifted into my wolf form.

The sound of bones crackling and clothes ripping filled the air as both Eleanor and I shifted into wolf form, tumbling down the stairs in a heap. I felt my wolf let out a yelp as my head made contact with the hard ground making my head spinning for a second. Shaking my head, I quickly got back on my feet and she did the same. The crowd began circling around us as they watched us. While Kian, Jessen, Paul and Sabrina watch from the top of the stairs.

A strange feeling which was very, very faint, seemed to tug at the back of my mind. I didn't know what exactly the feeling was but it was one I had never felt before. As quick as it came, it disappeared before I could dwell on it an longer. I brushed of the feeling and focused on the fight instead .

Eleanor and I slowly circled each other prowling as I growled and she snarled her teeth at me. Our heads hung low ready as we watched each other moves, anticipating the next move. I quickly took in her large size and scars, assessing my opponent and she did the same.

'I see your wolf has changed into it's original Luna form. You're not the small, weak, little mutt anymore. However you are still no match for me. I'm going to make you regret you were ever born!' She growled. I snarled back at her in response as I leaped into the air and she charged towards me.

I jumped onto her and sank my teeth into her shoulder, she let out a howl of pain before rolling on the ground and snapping at my legs in attempt to get me off. Our bodies both moved with a speed that was unnatural as claws and teeth torn through pieces of skin, spraying blood on the ground.

It all happened so quickly, as I let the animal within me take control over my body.

It felt good.

All my intense training over the years with Rick had lead to this very moment. This was the ultimate die or fight battle. If I lost I would not look like a worthy leader to my pack, I would look weak.

I felt the warm, metallic taste of blood in my mouth as Eleanor's blood dripped from my jaws. Eleanor's wounds quickly began to heal though. As I looked into her eyes they where full of hate, vengeance and anger.

In a quick second she was on top of me pushing me down with her front paws as her claw dug into my skin and I winced. I snapped at her neck missing it by mere inches. She bit her teeth into my mane ripping chunk a of fur off. I put all my strength into my hind legs, scratching her under belly and then throwing her off. She yelped as she flew off and fell onto her side.

I could feel my wounds trying to heal but I was loosing too much blood already, which was slowing the healing process.

Her right leg looked like it had broken from the impact and she had blood dripping from her under belly. I quickly took advantage of this moment when she was weak to heap onto her and grab her by the neck, flinging her in the air, towards the wall. She hit the wall with a loud thump.

I watch as she slowly got back on her feet and shook her head. My heart was racing and my breathing was rapid the adrenaline was beginning to wear off and I was feeling the pain all around my body.

'It's over, Eleanor, I win. I don't want to have to kill you but I will if I have to. If you surrender, I will let you live.' I barked, mind linking her. I knew the rest of my pack could hear us.

She laughed but it was humourless. 'I would rather die then let you rule. I will kill you and watch you scream, the way your mother did.'

I trembled with rage and felt my hackles raise as a surge of strength coursed through my body giving me energy. She lunged towards my throat for the final blow, but I was quicker to react.

I dodged her attack and jumped onto her, clamping my jaws onto the back of her neck. She wriggled under my grasp, fighting to break free, but that only made my jaws tighten their grip.

'I gave you a chance, but now you die. This is for my mother!!' I growled. I saw the look of fear and submissiveness in her eyes. Her wolf finally giving in to my dominance.

I had won.

Kill. Kill. Kill. My True Luna wolf instinct chanted.

With one swift motion I ripped off her head, making a loud crunch sound of bones snapping, and threw it across the ground. I felt as her body shook lifelessly and then stiffened.

The sound of cheering, clapping and wolves barking and yipping filled the air. I finally took in my surrounding at the crowd around me, remembering that there were people watching. Some of the members from my pack had shifted to their wolf forms. I studied peoples expressions and all of them looked relieved and happy that I had defeated Eleanor.

Suddenly a strange wave and energy of power coursed through my body catching me off guard.

True Luna blood.

Leader

Power

My wolf spoke to me.

The Luna blood was beginning to course through my veins. It felt like my body was on fire, and my eyes felt like they where burning as my eyes glowed brightly. Still in my wolf form, I instinctively howled and was surprised to have my fellow pack member's who were in wolf form, howl back to me, responding to their new leader.

'Luna. Luna. Luna' The pack chanted in unison through the mind link. I saw people were bowing their heads at me submissively, accepting me as their new leader.

I felt myself shift back into my naked human form. I felt unusually hot as if I was about to melt into the ground. Was it this normal? What is happening to me? I feel like I'm about to faint.

I started to panic at the strange sensation.

'Lara, I'm here. It's OK.' Colleen spoke in my mind reassuring me.

'What is happening to me Colleen?' I said, panic edged in my voice.

'It's your wolf's awakening.'

'Awakening?' I repeated confused breathing heavily now. I looked down at my hands, which were covered in Eleanor's blood, were pulsing as a black liquid substance ran through my veins making their way to my neck.

'Yes. The True Luna's awakening. Now that you're an official Luna, your true wolf, which is the True Luna, and had originally been dormant because of my spell all these years, is now fully awakening. Before you had only a part of it unlocked, but now your wolf is fully awakening and the process as you can tell in painful. More painful than a normal ordinary ritual. Just hold in there Lara.'

A strange voice I had never heard before, echoed as it spoke in my head.

What the hell?!

Out of no where Paul's voice spoke as he appeared and stood right beside me facing the crowd. He held up my left hand and announced, "SilverMoon pack, I give to you your rightful True Luna!" The crowd burst into happy cheers and whistles but I felt so dazed as I blinked rapidly and shook my head trying to shake the feeling off.

I could feel the pack members emotions and thoughts through the pack bond. Before the feeling of the bond had been very faint and quiet, like still water but know it was like a thunderous ocean with roaring waves. All the pack members were like stings, all connecting to me. My head pounded from the overwhelming feeling. I could hear every one of their inside thoughts and feelings. I needed to shut the voices out but I didn't know how.

I sensed one person in particular emitting strong emotions of hate, anger and sadness.

Sabrina

"Mother!" Sabrina cried as she ran towards Eleanor's lifeless body laying on the ground and kneeled over her body. I felt a hint of sadness towards Sabrina. As much as she was a bitch, I was now her Luna and felt compassion towards her, she was part of my pack.

Through my hammering headache and dazed state I slowly made my way towards her, stumbling slightly in the process.

"Sabrina-" I said softly but she interrupted me. Her eyes were full of hot anger I could almost see the fire inside them.

"You fucking bitch. I hate you so much. You ruined my life. You ruined my ceremony and killed my mother! I don't care if you are my Luna or the leader of all werewolves, I will never submit to you!" She shouted as she stood up and made her way towards me, threateningly.

I was too out of it to take in the situation and was on the brink of falling unconscious as my vision began blurring and my balance was wavering.

Just before I could register Sabrina about to throw a punch at me, I was staring at Kian's back as he stood in front of me protectively.

"Stop Sabrina. Enough." He said as he stood between me and her, his voice chillingly low and deadly, lacing his Alpha power into his words. Sabrina froze in her tracks, stunned by his sudden tone and protectiveness towards me. I was just as surprised and confused as she was.

"You're not seriously protecting her now are you?!" She remarked, hurt and betrayal visible in her tone.

"I'm sorry about your mother's death but Lara won the challenge fair and square. You need to accept that and if you can't I suggest you leave." his voice was as cold as his expression and his tone was dead serious

"But Kian- What about us?" She whispered.

"The deal is over. We are not mates, we don't need to be forced to marry each other anymore. I suggest you find your real mate instead if you want to live a happy life." This time there was a hint of compassion in his tone, but it quickly disappeared.

"But I don't want my mate, I want you. Don't you want me?" she whined her eyes looking glassy.

"No, I have a mate. I don't need anyone else."

"M-Mate?" She stammered, stepping back surprised.

"Sabrina let's go. We should leave. We are no longer welcomed here." Stephan cut in pulling Sabrina back by her arm.

"You'll pay for this Lara. It isn't over!" She shouted.

Before I could respond or see what happened next, I saw the ground rushing towards my face as my body went limp and I finally collapsed.

Familiar strong arms grabbed me before my head hit the ground.

My eyes felt heavy as I looked into the bright emerald eyes of Nick. His messy chestnut hair fell onto his eyes as he looked down at me with wide eyes of worry and concern. I tried to smile at him but my face felt numb as if I had been heavily drugged. This was not like me.

"Lara! Lara are you OK?"His voice was very faint and it seemed getting further and further away.

"What's happening to her? Her body is burning up." He asked and I saw Colleens head pop into view as she said something to Nick but I couldn't register what. I had forgotten I was still butt naked until Rick wrapped a large button up shirt over by body.

"Head-d.. h-hurts." I stammered before feeling my eyes completely close and I let my body welcome the darkness.

But before I fell completely unconscious, I thought I heard Kian's husky voice next to my ear as he whispered my name. Lara

That was when a realization of what he had said to Sabrina, came back too me and it unsettled me.

"I have a mate." His voice echoed.

Wait did Kian find his mate?!
