《Unforgivable ✔️》Chapter 28

My eyes still locked with Shayne as we continued to stare at each other. He was sitting on a chair across the room with his elbows resting on his knees and his chin resting on his knuckles. I was sitting up on the bed with my back propped up against the fluffy pillows.
We were waiting for Lisa in the infirmary to come back and show the results. Lisa took ultra sounds and took blood samples. I had stopped bleeding and it wasn't as bad as Lisa thought. Since I had hurt myself she wanted to make sure that I hadn't lost the pup. Turns out I was indeed pregnant, not too far along, but very much pregnant.
Shayne hadn't left my side and I wasn't sure if I was relieved or if I wanted to kick him out. He didn't deserve to be here with me after what he had done. He hurt me and because of him I could have lost the baby I was carrying. He was the one who threw me and made me hurt myself. I knew Shayne wouldn't have done that if he had known and honestly I couldn't hold it against him even if I wanted to.
"Did you know about this?" Shayne asked quietly.
"Are you seriously asking me that?" I asked.
"Yes, I am seriously asking you that."
"Of course I didn't know!" I snapped. "When Eric attacked me the Dr. Edmond said I wasn't pregnant. I was feeling sick but I didn't think it was because of that."
Now that I thought about it I knew exactly how it was that I ended up knocked up. Shayne and I had mated the day before Eric had attacked me. I wasn't pregnant then but it didn't take long for me to actually get pregnant.
I was pregnant....
The thought continued to run through my mind. My wolf was jumping with excitement and, honestly, so was I. This is what I had been trying to do for months. Although I would have preferred this to happen at a different time and under different circumstances, I was still happy. But I wasn't sure I could say the same about Sahyne.
Shayne kept an emotionless face and continued to eye me suspiciously. I was waiting for him to ask me something stupid like; 'is it mine?'. He would say something stupid like that. I knew he didn't trust me right now but he can't be that stupid. If I would have mated with someone else he would have felt it and even smelled it on me.
"That's why your scent was different."
"My scent?"
Shayne nodded and stood up from the chair to sit next to me. He kept his eyes in me the whole time.
"It's the most intoxicating scent and my wolf loves it. I understand why he kept jumping in excitement every time I caught a whiff of your scent."
I felt flutters in my stomach and I wanted to be happy about this but I couldn't. What if he tried to do something? What if he tried to keep me away from my baby? I would be heart broken.

Before I could open my mouth to say anything Lisa walked into the room. She had a bright smile on her face and walked towards us. Her blue eyes sparkled with excitement.
"How are you feeling?" She asked me.
"Nervous."
Lisa laughed and tucked a lose strand of her brown hair behind her ear. She set down a clip board she had and handed me some papers.
"You and your baby are going to be just fine. You do have to be in bed rest though. It was a good thing you were in your wolf form when you got hurt. That prevented you from having a miscarriage but as of precaution, I want you in bed for at least a week." Lisa said. "I would say take it easy on running while you are in your wolf and no play fighting anymore."
Lisa gave a stern look to Shayne which made him frown. No one really knew what was going on with me. A lot of people didn't know I had been locked in the prison cells because of what I thought I did. Shayne told them I hadn't been feeling well and that's the reason I haven't been out.
Bre and my brother were still locked away. I wanted to tell them both the good news. I was having a pup. Shayne's pup. We were going to have a baby together!
"I'd like to keep you here for at least four to eight hours to make sure you're stable enough to go home. Remember that you need to be careful."
"Okay, I will be." I said nodding.
"No stress and no running around. After you leave I want to see you back in three weeks for another ultra sound." Lisa said.
She handed me a picture and all I could see was a blob of nothing. There was a small arrow on there that pointed to the baby. It was so tiny and barley visible. I started to tear up as I continued to look at it.
That little blob of life was inside of me. In less than six months I would be able to hold my baby in my arms. Wolfs pregnancy was much faster than human pregnancy. It usually takes four to five months for us.
"I'll leave you to rest and I'll be back later to check on you." Lisa said. "Congratulations, Luna."
"Thanks." I said, smiling shyly.
"Congratulations, Alpha." She turned to Shayne.
"Thank you, Lisa." Shayne said. "You may go now. I'd like to be alone with me mate."
Lisa smiled and nodded. She walked out and closed the door behind her. I handed Shayne the picture so he could take a look at it. He stared blankly at it and then looked at me.
I bit down on my lip nervously. Did he not want this? How could he want something like this? This couldn't have happened at such a bad time. Our relationship wasn't so good right now.
I was going to stop this horrible uneasy silence that settled between us when he pulled the blanked I had wrapped around my waist back. My body went stiff and he started leaning closer to me. Shayne's hands pressed cautiously against my stomach. I felt my breath catch in my throat as I stated wide eyes at him.

"This might be the most horrible and amazing day of my life." Shayne said in a shaky breath.
I didn't know what to say and I didn't think I could find my voice to say anything. Shayne continued to run his fingertips on my stomach.
"You're giving me a pup." He said.
"I'm sorry?"
Shayne looked up at me questioningly. I was confused with his actions and why he kept touching me. Wasn't he pissed at me? Wasn't he the one who was going to let people kill me?
"What?" He asked confused.
"I-I'm just confused." I said. "What's going to happen now?"
"This changes a lot of things. You did down thing really bad with killing my sister-"
"I didn't kill her." I cut him off.
"I don't need your lies right now." He pulled away from me then.
"Rider is a sick bastard. For some reason he wanted your sister dead and I wasn't the one to kill her. Also, if you're going to out me back in that cell I suggest you double up security. He came to see me last night."
"I don't believe you." He said.
"Of course you don't. You only believe what you want to hear. Shayne, I know I hurt you and I'm sorry, but I didn't kill Ellie. Look into my eyes, you know I'm not lying."
Shayne looked at me and seemed to be trying to search my face for something.
"Eric saw you-"
"Before Rider knocked him out. I know Eric didn't feel her die when I was fighting her off. I didn't do it, Shayne, I swear on everything. I swear I didn't do it."
"Then who did?"
"Rider. He's the one that killed her. He turned everyone against me and had me kicked out if the pack. My own family cut me out of their lives. He hurt me so much and I've had enough of a punishment running for six years."
"You do realize that you're accusing him is something very bad. You don't even have proof to back it up."
"I'm sure Justin knows something."
"That dog you touched." Shayne gritted his teeth.
I smiled and felt a bit relieved. Shayne was keeping an open mind on what I was telling him. We were actually talking about this. I had been dying for almost two weeks just to have this moment with him.
"He's Bre's mate." I said.
"Oh." Shayne said.
"Yeah, big oh."
I chuckled as he looked embarrassed about his small outburst. I thought it was cute and showed he still cared. Shayne was putting up a wall with me but I was going to gain his trust no matter what.
"Sage, we really need to talk." He said.
"Isn't that what we're doing?"
"I'm serious. This changes a lot of things. Eric will have to back away and we still have to come to an agreement. Your act cannot go unpunished."
"I already told you it wasn't me." I said.
"I know and I'm sorry to say that I'm having a hard trouble believing you. You have no proof of what you're saying."
"Neither does Eric."
"He saw you there."
"He also could feel her slip away if I had killed her. Rider did it when he knocked out Eric. I'm really sorry for what happened to your sister but it wasn't me. For years it has been haunting me and I know now that this was all a set up by Rider."
"Even if it were true, how do you suppose we get any evidence?"
"Justin can help."
"Rider's Beta?"
I nodded. "He hates Rider because he's trying to get Bre killed. She didn't do anything and she wasn't involved in any of this mess- neither was Jake."
"Alright, we'll have to figure something out."
I beamed at him. My heart started to flutter and I felt relieved. Here I was thinking he was going to do something mean to me. He was giving me a chance and I was going to take full advantage of it.
"I want to go home." I said.
"I want you home too." Shayne said.
I was a little more than shocked when Shayne took my face in his hands and kissed me. He kissed me hungrily and I melted in his hands. It felt so good to kiss him.
I wrapped my arms around Shayne's neck and pushed myself closer to him. I've missed this so much and I didn't want to let it go. I finally was able to pull back to catch my breath.
"Sage, this is really hard for me. I don't want you hurt and neither does my wolf. You're my mate and I can't forget that. I will try to give you the benefit of the doubt. But no more lies, understood?"
I nodded. "No more lies, I promise."
Shayne nodded and crushed his lips to mine once more. I felt so happy right now. Shayne was willing to give me a chance. One chance was all I needed.
"I've missed you." Shayne said brushing his lips against mine.
"I've missed you too."
Shayne rested his forehead against mine and looking into my eyes. He gave me a peck and pulled back smiling brightly at me.
"Sage?" Shayne said in a serious voice.
"Yeah?" I lasted nervously biting on my bottom lip.
"We're having a baby!" He was grinning from ear to hear.
I laughed and smiled along with him. The thought of being a mother was sinking in and it was making me nervous. I was going to be a mother!
"Yeah, we are." I breathed out in pure happiness.
"We're having a baby." He sighed happily.
