《Hail to the King (RE8 Harem/fanfic)》Chapter 12 - A Veteran's Wisdom

Y/n was following the trail signs towards something called the ceremony site. He found a himself at a bridge where the three lycan guards stand between him and the large wooden doors with six-black wings decorating the front.
The three lycan guards charge and y/n whips out Samurai edge, he shot the first lycan in the head three times and it dropped dead.
The second lycan surged forwards but got tripped by y/n as he ducked the axe it had and tripped it so he could fire three bullets into the third lycan who followed after the second.
Once the third was dead he went back the remainder and narrowly evaded another axe to the head, he shot the lycan in the spine dropping it to its knees. He stood behind it and delivered a double tap execution.
Y/n reloaded and noticed each lycan had a small bag if silver coin on them, better use for him then the dead.
{Thoughts} I am really out of touch but... Im getting back into the flow of it...
He cheerfully flipped his gun but, like a dork, he dropped it and he scrambled to pick it up before anyone saw. Y/n cleared his throat, he awkwardly then walked to the gates and undid the latch.
Pushing through he's greeted by a familiar face sitting in a wagon in front of 4 statues.
Ahh~ Mr. Callahan, how was your trip through the village?
How did you- ya know what, nevermind. It was fruitful, turns out the people gathering survivors are outsiders... However, their 'stuck' in the reservoir trying to contact the outside world-
With a transmitter?
... Yes, how did you know?
Duke gives Y/n a slight grim expression on his face as he reaches behind him and shows off his recent purchase.
Travis sold it too me... Said it was a disarmed artifact from the outside world, found it beside a burnt down house
Duke that means Travis was here less then an hour ago.
Indeed-
That house was still burning when I got there... So unless he was there when the fire started and people were dying or he didn't get that device from where he said...
... I believe you...
Wait, just like that?
Let me summarize, ive known Travis for a week or so and in the day ive known you... I know who the fox and who the rat is... One is cunning but true, the other is waiting for the war to end so he can reap the corpses for rewards...

Thank you Duke... Does the transmitter still work?
Sadly I believe not, see i noticed some damage along the antenna and ive seen no similar appendage in the village... Im afraid you have more of a alarm clock rather then a radio now...
No... That's good, any reinforcements would just get in MY way as well. Speaking of reinforcements, i happen to be in market for 9mm ammo.
The duke grinned and reached for a box, Y/n hands the duke the lei in exchange for a surplus of bullets for his handgun. Afterwards they bid their farewells as Y/n walks towards the tunnel system entrance.
[ Some Time Later ]
Y/n hikes through the tunnels till he finds more mineshaft scaffolding, a few lycans along the way but no real threat so far. He follows a line of torches till something soft comes under foot rather then wood.
Looking down he notices he some form of algae slime clinging to his foot. He growled and rubbed his foot against the wood.
Disgusting...
He moves on, later on he finds a small fishing shack near an underground river. The coast looked clear so he went down to the door to find it barricaded with a bookshelf, he grabs the edge of the bookshelf and pulls it aside just enough to sneak though if he held his breath.
Inside y/n found the corpse of a man in a teal blue vest, his left arm missing and left leg attached by only bone a few pieces of teared muscle. Flipping the body over he notices a logo on his back 'Terra Savers' and a name tag over the heart called 'Mike'.
{Thoughts} Not Jesse... But terra savers? Terra savers... The um, those international disease recovery corp..... This accounts for two of three-
Y/n stops mid thought when he spotted a laptop bag in the corner of the room. He eager steps over the body and approaches the laptop bag, as he's about to grab the satchel the shack shakes slightly but enough dirt falls off the ceiling.
Y/n pauses...
!
The wall explodes as feels a bulldozer like force slam against his body, cold steel met his head with wrecking ball force that carried him through the back wall putting a hole through the shack.

He slides to a stop, he recoils and clutches his head feeling blood run down his face. His attacker stalked towards him in all his vicious armored glory.
Oh shit...
The armored lycan howls and unleashes a superhuman frenzy of slashes, y/n kicking off the ground barely avoiding the mincer in front of him.
The armored lycan lands a single blow, stabbing through y/n leg pinning him to the ground.
Y/n clutched the blade with one hand and held off the other blade with his strong hand as the beast aims to stab through his face next.
The lycan rips the blade out of Y/n leg and grabs him by his head tossing him back to the shack where he gets clotheslined by the roof and lands full scorpion.
{Thoughts} Okay feral powers... Activate?.... Please....
As he stands up he watches a long metal spike emerged from below his chin, the lycan growling in cheer for himself as he feels glee in this kill.
The lycan pulls the blade out of Y/n throat, a small river of blood coming out his mouth as he falls to his knees.
Suddenly the world shifts, Y/n is on his knees but now he's on his knees in his old soldier uniform. The figure who kneels in front of him placing a hand on his shoulder.
.....
.... I'm sorry...
Don't be.
Why can't I manage to keep myself alive?
Because you spent so long making yourself believe you shouldn't be...
Why am I the only one alive?....
Because your stronger then this... I know you can't believe in yourself but I believe you kid... I always have...
Y/n blinks and he returns to the world, he forces his body up and approaches the lycan taking a hold of its blade to hold it back.
The lycan turns to find Y/n holding its arm, the lycan makes a slash at him.
When the lycan looked down he noticed its entire right arm from the shoulder down was missing. The lycan gets no time to recover as its own bladed hand penetrates its chest pushing it to the ground.
A feral y/n standing above it, red piercing eyes walk to its head as it gargles blood and struggles to recover. Y/n lifts his foot up and stomps on its head with enough force the iron helm shatters like glass as the river is filled with lycan viscera.
Y/n starts panting, his body felt like it was on fire, breathing was a pain but he was alive. He looked back to see if Burke was real but of course the cavern was only occupied by Y/n now.
Unloading the laptop bag he found a black computer with a half charge and a finger-print scanner.
Fuuuuuck...
He stops and looks at the Terra Saver corpse. He pulls the body over and files through all five remaining fingers till the screen beeps and unlocks for him.
Thank yoooou.... Fuck my life...
He clears his throat, rubbing the fresh scar on his neck with discomfort.
{Thoughts} Gotta get a grip, I can't keep walking over to death's void for life advice....... Burke... Moving on is easier in the movies...
Flipping through the computer files he finds a lot that he can't understand or see the relevancy in; however, he found a pdf file for something called 'Operation Therapy'.
Operation Therapy... Classified for Terra Saver Blah Blah Blah... Briefing: four months ago reports of a biological anomaly in Louisiana required BSAA intervention to contain the anomaly and destroy mass amounts of the parasitic fungus. Later investigations were operated against the approval of BSAA officials...
Ohh illegal recon, how naughty~
The anomaly was labelled 'mold' and carried serious mutation priorities with physical and mental side effects...
Y/n reads through the dossier his eyes coming back to re-read the last quarter.
BSAA entered quarantine when mold core was stolen while on transport to HQ. Gps locator died out a few miles from the village-
Y/n stops reading to himself when the cold press of a barrel touches the back of his head.
Ten seconds to explain or I can blow your head off right now.

The Waterborne - Blasphemous Series
Gamelit / LITRPG Elements are common in this novel. Some say a single action can't change anything. But what if you add another action? And another one? At one point, you would have to agree that a single action can change a person's life. When a young woman is plagued by a mental illness, only a benevolent god can give her a deal worth taking. Living again in another world where underwater monsters, rebellious factions and ancient artefacts are common place, we will have to see, just how much a single action can change things. Updated M - W - S (During the editing / rewriting process, updates are postponed.) This novel is a part of the Blasphemous Series, which can be read in any order, I recommend new readers start with this novel.
