《The Bad Boys Exception》Chapter 17

"No mom it's fine, thank you Aiden that would mean a lot," I smile, my mom smiles gratefully before she makes sure I have my bag and house key and then Aiden and I are walking side by side before I step into his beautiful car, the silence engulfing me and giving me a little time to think.
Aiden doesn't ask any further questions, pleasantly surprising me and his car purs to life and off we go.
After about 5 minutes of silence I decide to break it, to be fair I did promise to tell Aiden first and told my mom instead. "You were right, Luke confessed."
Aiden nods before he glances at me quickly, "well that obviously isn't good news considering you look like someone stole your favorite bra."
I chuckle at his unlikely analogy before replying; "I told him I would never feel the same and that we didn't have to hang out anymore."
Aiden looks surprised for a second before he once again glances at my undoubtedly unhappy expression and then pulls over on the side of the road. I look at him in confusion but don't get a chance to question him because he quickly pulls a very illegal 3 point turn and we're driving back towards Luke's house.
"Aiden I really don't think he wants to see me, I'm pretty sure I just broke his heart." I roll my eyes.
"He most likely doesn't want to see you, and you did break his little golden boy heart, which is why we're not going back." He states in an obvious tone. I look at him in confusion to which he just smirks back and winks as we pass the familiar driveway.
"Aiden I swear to god if you're planning on taking me somewhere to kill me and dump my body I will come back and haunt you," I reply, only half-joking.
"Don't worry Collins, you're too pretty to kill and I wouldn't want to ruin my car," he smirks back in reply.
"Then where the fuck are you taking me?" I demand, ignoring the butterflies once again when he calls me pretty.
"You'll see," he smirks, but a part of him looks kind of nervous.
Ignoring his expression I cross my arms childishly, attempting to prove a point and lean my head against his window in my childish sulk. I hear him laugh from beside me and I fail to hide the smile that shows up on my face from the angelic sound.
What the fuck is happening to me?!
Another 20 minutes or so of silence, Aiden pulls to the side of the road. I look around and notice that we were literally in the middle of nowhere.
"Okay Black, now you're actually scaring me," I speak up, he smiles at me cheekily but doesn't say anything and steps out of his car to begin walking through his very suspicious bush.
I debate whether or not to stay in the car, but eventually find myself stepping out and running to catch up to Aiden who smirks and slows down when he sees me. Honestly, I was more afraid to be alone in his car for god knows how long than I was to just follow him. That and curiosity did really kill the cat.
"Where are you taking me, Black?" I ask as my clumsy self trips over a rock, instinctively I grab Aiden's bicep to catch myself.
Holy fuck that is one hot bicep.
Aiden obviously sees my amazement at his arm and chuckles while I blush crimson red.

"Almost there, patience Collins," Aiden smirks once my blush dies down a little.
"Patience Collins," I mimic childishly but still follow.
I hear him chuckle slightly causing me to look at the uneven ground to avoid embarrassing myself again and mutter some choice words under my breath.
I was paying such close attention to the ground that I didn't notice Aiden stop, causing me to once again bump into his back.
I lift my head to glare at his back but get distracted by the amazing view.
And although his back was in fact a great view, it wasn't the one I'm talking about.
I gasp as I walk to stand beside Aiden and stare in astonishment.
All my previous fear suddenly evaporated once I could stare at where Aiden had brought me, there was a huge cliff that we were standing several feet from, but looking past the cliff was the Californian beach and city. The sun had just started setting, making the beach look like a famous photograph, while half the city lights were shining, adding to the painting - like view.
I had never been a big city person, too many people, nothing to see but concrete and building after building, but after seeing the city looking like this, I had a newfound appreciation on which people rightfully called the concrete jungle.
He had brought me to one of the most beautiful and dangerous places I'd ever seen, it was dangerous because one could so easily be entranced by the evident beauty of the view that they would accidentally, but willingly walk straight off the edge. In a strange way, the whole scene reminded me of Aiden. He was obviously extremely dangerous, but just as damaged, that much was obvious to even the most naive person, but he was so incredibly physically beautiful, hanging out with him was like falling off the cliff. You would do it willingly, not realizing the danger until it was too late.
I thoroughly enjoyed hanging out with Aiden, his danger intrigued me in unexplainable ways and he had shown me a completely different side of himself, a more vulnerable one. But as much as I enjoyed his company, I had to be careful that I wouldn't fall...off the cliff of course, just like how careful we had to be here, even though the obvious beauty of the view made you want to see more, to get closer, you couldn't get too close or you'd fall. And I couldn't afford to fall.
I quickly shake my head, breaking myself away from my thoughts and glancing at Aiden who was already looking at me proudly, almost as if he was happy with my reaction to the beautiful place.
Aiden sits on a log and pats the spot beside me, the log looked like it had been brought here, but it was only really big enough for one person to comfortably sit, making me believe that Aiden had come here many times before.
"How'd you find this place?" I ask Aiden as I sit, our arms touching courtesy to the small log.
"I was driving home from the tracks the first time I had competed, I got out of the car to think for a moment and just kind of stumbled upon it," he replies absentmindedly.
"Thank you for bringing me here, its honestly amazing," I smile, he looks at me observantly before he speaks after a minute.
"Why were you the one sent to get Miles earlier?"
Ahh, so he brought me here to question me. That definitely makes more sense. I don't know what it was, maybe it was the place and his unusual kindness towards me but for some reason, I wanted to share with him, not everything, and only very briefly, but I wanted to give him something.

"Miles and I were both extremely close to someone who eventually died," I reply quietly, not wanting to face Aidens observant eyes.
From the corner of my eye, I see him nod in thought, "and that's why you get panic attacks?"
Damn, he was good.
I nod.
"Why was Charlie upset?" Aiden continues, I was actually glad at the change of topic.
"She's in love with Luke, she was upset because she thought we kissed, which we didn't," I sigh, I probably shouldn't have told Aiden that but something about the bad boy told me he wasn't much for spreading gossip or creating drama.
"You didn't know she was in love with him?" Aiden questions, a little surprised.
"They say I'm naive for a reason," I roll my eyes at my cluelessness, Aiden just smirks.
"You know, you promised me you'd tell me why you race once I told you why I got panic attacks," I remind him, biting my lip in nervousness because I didn't want to upset him.
"I have to pay someone's debt back," Aiden replies after a minute.
I know he was very brief, but so was I, and honestly I was just surprised he told me anything.
I nod my head in acknowledgment, letting him know I wasn't going to push it any further like he hadn't and he smiles back.
We fall into a comfortable silence before suddenly a huge gust of wind blows by and goosebumps rise on my skin. I had completely forgotten about the small dress that I had agreed to wear to lunch and hadn't yet had time to change.
I feel my nipples harden thanks to the cold air and scold myself for not wearing tape or anything before I attempt to cover them by crossing my arms.
Aiden, unfortunately, notices however and smirks in my direction, "excited to see me, Collins?"
"Maybe if you were the sun, or gave off any kind of warmth whatsoever," I retort sarcastically.
"You know, I'm pretty hot, I've actually been called 'hotter than the sun' before," Aiden smirks mischievously.
I roll my eyes and stick my tongue at him like the mature 17 year old I was.
"Let's go," Aiden smirks after he finishes laughing at my shivering state.
Rolling my eyes I stand up and begin walking to the direction of his car, making sure I was in front of him so he couldn't see my hardened nipples. I hear his booming laugh behind me, the sound once again makes me smile and my previous frustration with his flirty self evaporates.
We both climb into his car and he makes a u-turns so he is heading back towards our houses.
"When is your next race?" I ask, half to start a conversation and half hoping he plans to take me.
"Soon, I might bring you depending on the details," Aiden replies, knowing why I had brought it up.
I nod, acknowledging him putting himself in an uncomfortable position for me.
"What are you going to do about Luke?" Aiden asks after a minute of silence.
My heart clenches at the mention of my best friend. Or maybe even ex-best friend.
"I have no clue," I sigh, closing my eyes and leaning against the window. I feel Aiden's gaze on me for a moment.
"He'd be a dumbass if he let that stop him from hanging out with you," Aiden says.
I lift my head of the window to smile at him in gratitude.
"You know Black, you're not really a bad boy," I smile.
He smirks, "I don't know Collins, why don't you let me show you just how bad I can be."
His obvious flirting makes me laugh.
"You know what I think Black?" I ask, smiling towards his still smirking frame.
"What's that Collins?" He replies, looking at me with his damn smirk still firmly in place.
"I think you're not really a bad boy at all, and you just wear the title as a shield so no one can see who you really are. I mean, I've seen you with your family and you've been there for me when no else one has, I think you only act like a bad boy to avoid people getting too close," I reply honestly, I wasn't sure how Aiden would take it, to be honest. The smirk quickly turns into a smile momentarily before the smirk returns, just as cocky as before.
"Yeah well that, and the girls love a bad boy."
I laugh at his cockiness, I knew he took what I said seriously and I was happy he took it well instead of freaking out.
"Not all girls, I'm into the good boys," I smirk, LIE.
"If you were so into the good boys then why are you here with me instead of with your golden best friend who just professed his undying love for you," Aiden smirks, knowing he caught me.
"Alright Black, you're right. I'm not into the good boys, they're predictable and boring but I'm definitely not into wannabe bad boys like your charming self," I continue our little banter, smirking so he knows I'm joking when I call him a wannabe.
"A wannabe? Babe I don't think you know just how bad I am," Aiden smirks.
I laugh. This was fun, I was happy.
"And we have arrived," Aiden smirks pulling his car into his driveway.
I hadn't noticed where we were, I blame that on the genuinely good time I was having.
"Thank you Aiden, for the lift, for the spot, and for the talk," I smile at him genuinely.
"You're welcome Collins, any time," he smirks charmingly and my heart does a miniature flip.
Wait what?
Smiling once more I quickly get out of his car and rush to my front door. I cannot develop a crush on Aiden. I won't.
Grabbing my keys from my bag, I open the door and step in, leaning against the door and sliding down it so I was leaning against the now-closed door.
Sighing, I lean my head against it and close my eyes.
What a fucking day.
First, Aiden witnessed Luke and Miles fight over someone that Miles loved. Then Charlie gets upset because of an almost kiss between me and my best friend who she has been in love with for apparently as long as he has loved me. Then Aiden swoops in and saves the day like my own fucked up version of prince charming, and now I may be developing feelings for said 'fucked up prince charming'.
Groaning I bang my head against the door. WHY?!
The doorbell rings, practically making me jump in fright. I compose myself and wait a few moments so whoever was at my door didn't know how much of a loser I was before I open it and see a nervous-looking Aiden.
