Chapter Twenty Seven- Break In
I kept reminding myself that I had stayed strong. I hadn't made a big fuss after that, like a selfish brat, instead I acted as if I was happy for them, emphasis on the act part; I think Tom saw through me, but I don't know. Main point is I watched them go pretending to be happy...
As of now though I sit here on the couch in front of the television all day with Timber lying next to me. Tom called me every day. He always sounded happy, even though he had told me that he hated this process of interviews, I could tell he secretly loved them and I felt guilty that I had even thought of making him feel guilty about this.
"-So what have you done today?" Tom asked me.
"I finished the ice cream" I said innocently.
He sighed "Not very productive"
"I have nothing to do"
He sighed again "Well try and do something I've got to go...interview time!" he sang.
I laughed "I know I'm watching it"
"Really?"
"Uh huh try not to make a fool out of yourself kay?"
"Your cruel, you know that?"
"Yep now go I'll talk to you later"
I watched the rest of the commercials dazedly, until the host guy (I don't watch much late time TV) called Tom out onto the stage. He looked breath taking in the dark jeans and light blue button up shirt that was rolled up to his elbows, smiling with his perfect teeth. I couldn't help the smile that crept onto my face.
The audience settled down, and they finished the greeting, and began with the questions.
"So let's talk about your character Draco. He gets even darker in this film correct?" the host asked leaning forward intently.
"Yes, you defiantly get to see a different side of Draco, kind of get to see why he is the way he is" Tom smiled.
The host nodded his head "Filming this one, is it different from the others?"
Tom laughed "Yeah everyone has pretty much grown up, you know were not those little eleven year olds anymore. And especially this time it was different for me because I got to be in the process more, but then it's the same as well"
"Does the cast ever get together when you're not filming or is it just like an on set thing?"
"Well we all live pretty close together, I mean Dan and I share a house"
"So you have a lot of parties then?" The host cut Tom off.
"I wouldn't say a lot, but yes there is the occasional party" Tom smiled as the audience was shouting in excitement.

The host laughed. "Okay well we have some questions from our studio audience" He motioned the camera to a girl who stood in the middle of the aisle. She was a brunette and smiling fondly at Tom.
"Has being famous affected your normal life?" the girl asked a little embarrassed.
The camera flashed back to Tom who had his mouth open, thinking "Uh yes and no" he laughed at himself "I try to keep my life normal, but it can be hard to go out in the public sometimes" he shrugged, smiling crookedly.
The camera again flashed to the audience and now there was a blonde girl in the middle of the isle smiling confidently.
"Well I was wondering if you have a girlfriend?" she asked.
I jumped off the couch making Timber growl. "Hush!!!!" I shouted leaning in intently to hear his answer.
He looked shocked and confused on what to do, but then sighed shaking his head "No I don't"
I took in a shaky breath, the camera flashed back to the girl who had a seductive grin plastered on her face "So could I have your number?"
I slammed my thumb on the off button, making the room blacken, and walked up stairs to my room. I wasn't mad; I just didn't really want to see girls all over Tom.
And the next time he called me he apologized, even though he didn't really have to.
"-have you talked to Emma lately?" He asked as I was sitting on my bed looking absentmindly on the internet.
"I talked to her Monday, why?" I asked.
"No reason really"
"Nope there is a reason why?" I asked suspiciously.
"Don't sound like a detective Cas" he chuckled "She is just getting suspicious"
"Oh" was all I said before I screamed.
"What?!" Tom shouted.
I breathed in deeply "Nothing, it's just storming outside" I squeaked as I heard another roll of thunder.
"I'm sorry, I wish I was there" he said sincerely.
I laughed "I've gone practically my whole life through thunder storms without you Tom" I rolled my eyes "although I do wish you were here too" I sighed.
He mimicked me "I'll be there soon"
I snorted "Yeah in about a week"
He laughed "I never clarified my definition of 'soon'" I could hear the smirk in his voice.
"Whatever, what time is it over there?" I asked.
"Um two thirty" he said nonchalantly.
I gasped "You should be asleep!"
"But I wanted to talk to my girlfriend" I could just picture him pouting.
I laughed "You can call me later"
"-but"
"Nope go to sleep" I demanded.
"-Cassie"
"No I'm hanging up now"
He sighed "Goodnight"
"Goodnight" I smiled with satisfaction, as I hung up the phone and returned to surfing the internet.

Every now and then I would jump or squeal, but the storm wasn't too bad, nothing to have a panic attack over. That is until I heard Timber bark.
My head shot up so fast, and I hurried to hush Timber so I could hear. I couldn't hear anything but our breathing for two minutes until I heard something shatter down stairs, Timber barked again. I shot out of my bed and called Tom.
He picked up on the second ring.
"What Cassie?" He asked groggily.
"Tom I...I think someone is trying to break in"
"What?" he sounded more alert.
"Ye...yeah Timber's barking and I heard a crash down stairs"
"Okay, okay first of all breath" he commanded.
I took in a very shaky breath and squealed as another lighting strike illuminated my room.
"Okay now go into my room" he said.
"Okay..." I said a little confused. I opened the door making sure Timber was following me, and I ran into his room slamming the door behind me. "What now?" I asked.
"Go into the back of my closet" He said.
"That could take awhile" I joked.
"Not funny Cas" he sighed "in the back there should be a baseball bat"
"Why do you have a baseball bat?" I asked curiously as I walked through the closet.
"Not important" he said sternly.
I spotted a shiny bat in the corner and grabbed it. "Okay what now?"
"Go down stairs and check it out"
"WHAT?! There is no way I'm going down stairs by myself!" I shouted.
"Your not alone, you have Timber, and I'll be on the phone"
"But it's storming" I whined.
"Do you want someone to come a kill you?" he asked harshly.
"No..." I whispered.
"Then go down stairs"
"Fine, I'm putting you on speaker" I said opening his door hesitantly.
"Okay..."
I placed the phone in the pocket of my jacket and gripped the bat tightly preparing for a swing. The hallway was dark except for the constant light shadowing the walls from the windows. I started walking down stairs and saw a shadow right on the other side of the front door. My breath caught as I started descending the stairs.
"What's going on?" I heard Tom ask.
"Shut up!" I hissed just loud enough for him to hear me as I kept walking down the stairs. I didn't have a plan; I was just a little girl walking around with a bat...great. I stepped onto the tile floor as the door opened, it all happened so fast, I screamed, so did the person, Thunder stroke, Timber barked and my phone fell out of my pocket scattering closed across the floor.
The Shadow ducked from my swing and turned on the light.
"What the hell Cassie?!" Alec screamed at me.
"Alec" I breathed throwing the bat to the floor. Then I started hitting him.
"What?! Ow! Cassie stop!" he shouted flinching.
"Don't you ever do that again!" I screamed at him, breathing heavily.
"What I came to see Tom?" he said innocently.
"Are you an idiot, Tom isn't here I'm here alone"
"Oh right" Alec said shrugging smiling at me innocently.
I ran my fingers through my hair calming down and picked up my phone off the floor and went to sit on the couch were Timber was passed out. "How did you even get in here?" I asked curious as Alec followed, sitting beside me.
He rolled his eyes "I know where Tom hides the key, but I kind of tripped and broke the pot"
"Oh that was the noise" I said stupidly.
"So how are you and Tom?" he asked changing the subject.
"What do you mean how are we?" I asked suspiciously.
He rolled his eyes. "I know you and Tom are going out, he told me"
"What he did?!" he was allowed to tell his friends but I wasn't? What the hell?!
"No but you just did" Alec said smirking.
"Ugh" I said glaring at him, and then my phone rang.
"Hey Tom" I said answering it.
"What the hell?! Are you okay?!" he shouted.
"Yeah it was just Alec" I said nonchalantly.
"Alec is there" He growled.
"Yeah Alec's here..." I said confused.
Alec rolled his eyes and put his hand out wanting the phone. I hesitantly gave it to him.
"What's up Tommy?" Alec asked.
"What? You just want me to leave her here by herself? Nope not in the plans" Alec said smirking.
"I have a girlfriend you know" Alec growled.
"He's jealous?" I asked laughing. Alec smiled at me and handed me my phone.
"No need to be jealous Tom" I said through my laugh.
"You don't know Alec like I do" he growled.
I sighed "Look you need to go to sleep, I'll call you tomorrow"
"-No Cas you don't get it" he started to say but I pressed the end button, cutting him off.
"So you've been alone this whole time?" Alec asked.
"Well I have Timber" I said petting the snoring dog, next to me.
"Wow that's nice company, tomorrow your going to come out with us" He said picking his nails.
I shrugged "Okay, I need to get out of here anyway"
"Okay I'll pick you up tomorrow" He said getting up and heading for the door.
"Okay, and Alec?" I asked as he was half way outside the door.
"Yeah?"
"Don't ever scare me like that again" I said glaring.
He just laughed stepping into the light rain.

The Complete Alchemyst book 1
You've heard of superheroes, seen them flying across the sky, destroying great swaths of cities and ending countless innocent lives in order to defeat great evils and world-spanning threats and sell lots of sponsorships and merchandising opportunities. This is a story about the guy that is not those heroes. A supervillain in a world where making the right friends and political contacts is what separates the good guys from the bad. The Alchemyst is a story about a normal guy in a crazy world that spends his time trying to follow his dreams and conscience, working on new potions, thinking about girls, and lifting heavy shit, while trying to stay under the radar of the superheroes, supervillains, and governments that want what he can do. And occasionally turning them into makeshift melee weapons. If you enjoy The Boys, the Aberrant roleplaying game, Mystery Men, Trashy romances, Arnold Schwarzenegger movies, or SAW you may enjoy this book. Please note that this book has extremely graphic and sometimes gross fight scenes, heroes as villains, villains as heroes, opinionated and often politically incorrect characters, some graphic sex scenes, dad jokes, dirty jokes, realistic depictions of romance and flirting, bondage and dominance themes, and more than a few cuss words when they are really appropriate. This is NOT a superhero genre deconstruction. Many heroes truly are heroes, and they don't all need to be destroyed to make a good story, but it does look into the dark side of superpowers and the unreasonable and often contradictory demands placed on exceptional people.
