i told them how beautiful you were

how perfect you were

how your dark eyes made me melt

how your dark hair made me want to run my fingers through them

i told them how much i loved you

i told them how much you meant to me

and the wind whispered their answer

i only smiled

you know what they said?

they told this every time i talked about you

every time i cried about you

they said,

"Your love is very unfair."

"Why?" I asked, even though I knew what they would say.

"You have made something so beautiful for him and yet you wouldn't give it to him."

But how could I give something you never asked for?

how could i give you something you never wanted?

"He will want it," they said, "he doesn't know something so beautiful is waiting for him because he never thought it would exist."

so i listened to the stars

for they had pestered me too much

just as i had pestered them too much about you
