Rise of the Paragon - A Post-Apocalyptic LitRPG
Thomas and his best friend Kevin were the top players of Holy Arc Online, one of the hardest MMORPGs in the world, and also one of the worst-rated MMOs of all time. They had both embraced the challenge it provided and had finally, after years of dedication, beat the final boss of the game. However, all wasn't as it seemed. Welcome to the game, Genesis. Writing Rise of the Paragon is a personal experiment of mine in writing a grand-scale novel within the LitRPG genre. It is the year 2124. Earth is no longer divided into countries, rather it is divided into four large federations. Science has advanced in every aspect. A body can be revived and restored, and there are few things that are uncurable. Most manual labour is done by robots and most people do not work at all, they instead spend their days in leasure. One thing remains unchanged in the world of entertainment however, video games is still the main interest. For deccades, people have been playing VR-games through pods, which takes them into different worlds where they really feel alive. Untill now, it has only been a form of entertaiment. Yet for one man, it is his only hope for a future. Adrian was born with progeria, aging at a higher rate. Due to modern treatment, he has lived for nearly 20 years, but now only one week remain. With his missfortune, comes some luck. He has one offer, to get his conciousness transfered into a video game, permanently. And not just any video game, the revolutionary VRMMO game called Grand Age, one year ahead of the other players. In return for this, he is to write feedback reports on the game controlled by the godlike AI who has complete control. What nobody could forsee however, was the demise of the next hundred people qued for testing the game. The game launch is therfore posponed for a long time. This leaves Adrian in a world where the AI accedentally sets the time to 100 000 : 1 meaning Adrian is stranded in this world for age after age. When time finally returns to normal, and the game world resets, he is not the same as he once was. In the time before the reset, Adrian is known as the Eternal Blood-Sage the immortal expert who has experienced everything from the world began. Now after having experienced and learned everything beneath the heavens, he must face his greatest hurdle yet, other people entering the world.

When one journey starts, there is always one with a different path. Lilac Rezmirn thought that she would lead a dull life while waiting for her brother, Hans Rezmirn, to return with the glory and fame for being one of the pioneers who discovered a new land. However, she did not expect her life to follow a different adventure. Her fate was set when she met a lupine stranger who didn't look and act like a typical Lycan. She soon found that this lupine stranger, who had limited knowledge of her language, was in fact a hellhound, a humanoid lupine dweller of the Underworld in the Hollow Earth. Meeting the hellhound proved to be the start of her adventure. She met companions along the way, and she slowly discovered that the hellhound she met was involved in something sinister, which would undoubtedly changed the Continent of Ternor forever. This is the story of Lilac Rezmirn, sister of Hans Rezmirn, and Ifrit Schelkz, the lupine hellhound from the Underworld. The Hellish Incursion is a spin-off story set in Ternor which started several weeks after Hans and his friends reached Main Continent. It is part of the same continuity with 'Light Bane', but can be enjoyed without referring to the other series other than knowing who Hans Rezmirn is.

I wrote it because I like stories that make me think more about the world around us, not to detach myself from reality. Some aspects you can expect based on the tags include:- [Kingdom Building]: political drama, geopolitical/geoeconomic strategy- [Army Building]: massive battles featuring in-depth planning, combined arms, and operational logistics- [Identity Crisis]: someone translated into a whole different world having to rebuild their identity and life aims The story starts off slowly, more like a slice of life than action-adventure, but I guarantee you it will get there. For those who want to skip the slow part, start from Chapter - 35 (Beginning of The End) (The whole Disclaimer section is copied from Aorii as I am too busy writing the complete story.) And yes, just for General Knowledge, James will become OP throughout the story. He is not some legendary guy who will pull out Excalibur & conquer the entire world.
