How to have fun in an apocalypse (Rewrite)
After spending an unsavory amount of time in hell, our protagonist finally manages to escape the place that had kept him captive for so long... again. Unfortunately, even after plotting and planning for years, he ends up in a place not much different from the burning and agonizing Tartarus he once had to call home. Guts, blood, and carnage start to reign over Earth as soon as he set foot in it, much to his dismay. What use is it to cry over spilled milk, though? Tired of the monotony of endless torture, he steps into the world intending to have as much fun as possible. While others might try to raid the Orc Lord with as many people as possible, why not challenge him to an arm-wrestling tournament? The power of friendship will surely be on his side. Why hide from the big, bad wolf in one of your houses if wearing camo in plain sight should have the same effect? Now, making friends and going on adventures would be perfectly fine, if it wasn't for the fact that he hides a few more secrets than one might think at first. This is a complete rewrite! Due to being unsatisfied with the previous version, I have decided to work the story up, beginning from the older chapters! The plants rustled, the birds flew from their resting place in fear, her soft paws landed on the forest floor with stealth, her whiskers twitched with excitement, this was the first time she had actually tried hunting in the forest and not in her own backyard, and she loved it. The twenty dozen smells were so fresh, it was hard not to lose focus. But there was scent that she knew would stop at nothing to get to her, but it didn’t matter, if it were danger…she was undefeatable, if it were a happy and exciting, she would just cherish it. His eyes gleamed in the dark, tonight the forest was acquainted with an unfamiliar scent, his nose picked it up quite quickly, it was alluring almost drawing everything to it, but it said that you should be more wary of it, than anything else. He knew that it would be dangerous to seek the scent to its owner, but it just excited him more. He would stop at nothing to get to it. This is a story about a teen girl and a teen boy, but these two were gifted with extraordinary powers. They’re families were good friends, but if a seedling of doubt were dropped in between, would they go against each other? Would our dear leads stay together and ignore the seedling of doubt? Will their relationship as friends stay like that, bud into a rose, deeper than ever or rot like an apple and make them enemies?

I’ve been writing fiction on and off for the last decade and I’ve always wondered how a peak immortal (or an OP superhero) would single handedly conquer a world that mirrors our own in all of its complexity. As a politics nerd, this is my attempt at answering that question using Machiavelli’s “The Prince” as the primary playbook. The “monsters” are entire political systems with entrenched culture. Expect many versions of real world political systems (and cultures) to be on the hit list. The MC has to successfully institute regime and cultural change without engaging in wholesale genocide and causing the state to fail. Expect things to go wrong pretty quickly as escalating and cascading political and economic effects rapidly go out of control. Methods deployed are not for the faint hearted.
