DAY TWO : BOLT OUT

"papa! mama is like a princess!"

jinyeon stopped in his tracks as his eyes twinkled, the little boy skipped happily towards his parents as a wide smile was plastered in his face.

It was day two of fourteen.

"papa is like a king carrying his one and only beautiful queen, this is so much better than the fairy tales we've watched!"

little jinyeon chimed giddily, completely fooled with the act that his parents showed. the boy was jumping around jiho and jeongguk as he encircled the two, his beautiful doe like eyes twinkling with delight as he saw how close his parents were.

oh honey, if only you knew.

"papa, mama you two look like a real time fairy-tale couple!"

jinyeon's voice was laced with glee and soon his lips let out an adorable giggle. the adorable sound rang on jiho and jeongguk.

"i'm so happy papa!"

jeongguk couldn't miss the way how excited and cheerful his son was and for this, he couldn't help but feel his heart thump with pain.

"i'm so happy!"

the young boy repeated once more before he reached out to his mother, as if wanting to be carried too. jeongguk tried so hard to swallow the lump that started to form in the depths of his throat as he eyed the way his son smiled so bright.

"papa, can mama carry me while you still carry mama, too?"

jeongguk's heart churned as he heard the happiness on his son, his eyes trailed on jiho before he found himself getting lost.

"mama! carry me too, while papa carries you!" his eyes saw the way jiho's lips tugged into a breathtaking smile and he couldn't help the way his heart thumped.

"happy, honey?"

jiho's voice chimed like a hymn as she teased their little boy and it was sure making him feel weird.

"papa, you're our king!" heart constricting with pain and while his eyes were strained on jinyeon's direction, jeongguk couldn't help but want to bolt out of the door as he felt guilty of doing this to his son.

"waaaah! mama and papa, carry yeon!"

in that morning, like a spring blossoming in the middle of winter, jinyeon's giggles filled the jeon manour — warmth enveloping jiho's heart as jeongguk's chest heaved with an immense guilt.

"i'm so happy, mama!"

little jinyeon gleefully chirped, voice tinged with excitement as his eyes continued to twinkle in the arms of his mother.

"i wish everyday, we'd be like this!"

jinyeon chimed innocently, burying his face on the crook of his father's neck as he naively oversaw the way his mother's eyes glossed and jeongguk's lips trembled.

"ma—"

even before yeon finished his words, the little boy's school service honked it's horn on the jeon manor, making jeongguk carefully putting jiho and jinyeon down from his arms.

"darn it, i was just enjoying our cuddle time with mama and papa!"

clearly amused, jiho let out a heartwarming laugh before she kneeled to meet her son's eye level.

"don't worry baby, mama would cuddle you to your heart's delight when you come home from school, later"

"really?!"

yeon beamed as he giddily jumped, jiho had the boy in his arms "then—then," the boy stuttered, before his eyes went up to meet his father's. "wait, would papa cuddle me too later?"

jeongguk wanted the floor to eat him up, the moment his son spoke of those words. he felt so guilty, he betrayed yeon's mother and—

"will papa, come home early today?"

jinyeon pressed and jeongguk's heart sunk.

"i wanna cuddle with papa, too!" the boy reached out for his father and jeongguk carefully took the boy in jiho's arms.

"will papa, cuddle me later?" the father had to bite his cheek in order to stop the treacherous tears to slip.

finding it hard to speak, he'd dragged the words to say. "o—of course, baby. papa would be home early . . . m—mama and i would cuddle you"

"really?!"

jinyeon giggled as he reached out to him and kissed his father's cheeks, jeongguk felt his heart splitting into two.

how could i do this?

"waaah, i'm so lucky! jinyeon will surely get that top one title for mama and papa's 10th year anniversary as a thank you gift for papa and mama's love!"

"i—"

"jinyeon loves papa as papa loves mama!"

at the mention of those words, jeongguk couldn't stop a single tear to slip from the corner of his eye.
