"Get up",I said shaking santiago in his bed. He turned around and slept some more. I pulled the covers from up under him because I was sick and tired of him not stepping up to his dad to tell him that he was gonna take over the restaurant. The restaurant is his only hope and he's blowing it right now.
"Khia chill out. It's 8 in the morning",he said tugging the covers.
"No get up tiago. Your dad just left the house. And I'm pretty sure he went down to the restaurant."
I opened his window blinds and crossed my arms. I looked at him as he snored a little bit. I sat on top of him and played in his hair.
"You know you putting me to sleep when you do that Khia",he said with his eyes closed.
"Get up tiago",I said shaking him. He opened one eye and then the other one.
"Get up",I said to him.
"I can't if you sitting on me",he said with a smirk. I wasn't laughing. I got off of him and watched as he slowly got up and rubbed his eyes.
"Your gonna tell him. Today, not tomorrow",I yelled at him showing him the immigration paper and throwing it at him.
"If you don't tell him today, I'm not talking to you for a whole month & you can lose my number",I said. He looked at me and laughed. When he saw I wasn't laughing he dragged himself to the bathroom to brush his teeth. When he was done, he looked at me. I was sitting in the middle of his bed looking through his photo album he hid underneath his bed.
"They need you to do this today",I said showing him a picture of his family. He took the photo from my hand and kissed me. He was on top of me serenading me in kisses.

"I don't know what I'd do without you I swear",he said kissing me again. I pushed him off of me and said, "hurry up. Your wasting time."
He looked in his cabinet and threw on a pair of dark jeans and a red t shirt.
"You coming?",he asked me.
"Hell yea. To see if your a.. really talked to him or not",I said searching for a t shirt he had in his drawer. He sat down waiting on me to get dressed. I washed my bare face and brushed my teeth after getting dressed.
Santiago
Man Khia was a trip. I ain't never noticed it until now. This girl woke me from my sleep and forced me to go talk to my pops. I ain't want to talk to him about this now because I know my pops already at a fragile place in his life about this family restaurant. Driving to the restaurant, I could feel my stomach doing flips in the car but Khia didn't know it. Either I was real hungry or nervous as hell. I saw my pops red pickup truck parked out in the driveway and I parked next to it. After a month, the restaurant was starting to look better and better. The only thing left was to have the windows tinted which was my idea.
"You coming in?",i asked Khia next to me.
"Nope this is all you player",she said putting her shades on. I looked at the side of her face and she was unbothered with me. I turned off the engine and walk towards the entrance of the restaurant. I had a key to the door so I put it in and opened the door myself.
I saw my dad talking to another guy in Spanish. Sounded like a contractor.
"Si",my Dad said and stoped talking once he saw me walk in.

"Es mi hijo",he said introducing me to the guy. We shook hands and he began to speak to me in Spanish.
"Le estaba diciendo a tu papá que iba a reconstruir toda la cocina para que no sea propenso a los incendios", he said.
Eso suena bien. ¿Cuánto nos costará esto?",i said.
"ya que ustedes son familia, no les cobro",he said.
"That's cool. Pops can I talk to you for a minute?",I said to my dad.
"Un momento",my dad said to the guy.
"Yes Hijo",my dad said as we sat next to a nearby table near the entrance.
"I was thinking about the uh offer",I said getting choked up.
"What offer Hijo? Speak up your not making any sense."
"Remember when you gave me the offer of owning the restaurant?"
"Yea but that was months ago. You turn me down every time Hijo."
"Is that offer still on the table?"
He looked at me and said, "yes. But I don't think your ready for that much responsibility."
"I am pops. I'd love to take over if you'll let me but under one condition."
"I'm listening."
"I want to remodel this place. It looks old and tired. No wonder we're not getting any business in here."
"Remodel how Hijo? If you think your gonna turn this place into a club, don't even think about me handing this business to you",he said sternly.
"No pops. I just want this place to attract a younger crowd, I want to add a bar and a band that could play every weekend",I said getting vivid ideas in my mind.
"Who's gonna pay those people?"
"Once we add the bar and get the word out about this place, we'll be generating more money and hire a band to play every weekend."
"That doesn't sound like a bad idea Hijo."
"But you gotta show me your responsible. Being a manager is a tough job. You have to get up in the morning to open up and see how things are running. You have to check on the restaurant every night to lock up. I don't see how you can take on that load especially when you are in school."
"I Can pops. After all, I am going to school for business management."
"Okay. I trust you. One screw up, and I'm taking this out of your hands. This is not just any business, this is our family business. It's not a place for drug dealers, gangs, or parties Saturday nights. I mean it."
"Okay pops. I got it."
"Alright. I'll meet you back home so we could get some paperwork done to put this in your name."
"Thank you Dad. I promise you won't regret this",I said hugging him. He smiled at me and I gave him a reassuring smile back. I can't believe he was going to actually let me do this and be the owner. This restaurant was like a baby to him.
I walked out to the car and said, "guess what?"
"What? He said no?",she said taking her shades off and on her phone.
"No he said yes baby. He actually said yes to me. Your lookin at the new owner of this restaurant."
"Aww that's awesome babe. Your welcome",she said looking at me and smiling.
"Thank you babe. Couldn't have done this without your help",I told her.
"Yea I know",she said laughing. I brought her lips into mine and felt like everything was falling into place.
