Monica was off playing UNO with Talos's daughter, while the rest of them were gathered around the dining room table drinking beers and talking about everything that they had gone through. Poppy couldn't help but laugh as she made fun of Nick for the injury that he had and the fact that he had gotten it from a creature as cute and fluffy as the Flerken.
⠀⠀⠀⠀ "I can't believe you got into the raddest dogfight ever and I missed it," Carol spoke as she glanced between both Poppy and Maria.
⠀⠀⠀⠀ "I'd say you arrived just in time," Maria replied to her with a smile and Poppy nodded her head in agreement as she took a swig from the bottle of beer that she had in her hands.
⠀⠀⠀⠀ "Some nifty flying you did out there. S.H.I.E.L.D could always use a good pilot like you," Nick said as he spoke to Maria and Poppy shook her head at the fact that Nick was attempting to recruit someone after the day that they had.
⠀⠀⠀⠀ "I'll consider it . . . as long as you never call my flying 'nifty' again," Maria replied to him, which made Poppy snicker as she covered her mother as she stared at Nick. She then changed the subject as Maria nodded to Nick's eye. "How's your eye?"
⠀⠀⠀⠀ Nick let out a small moan as he reached for the scared eye, "Hmmm. Getting better every second."
⠀⠀⠀⠀ "Just so I'm clear . . . you were Soh-Larr. . . and the S.H.I.E.L.D agent?" Carol questioned as she stared at Talos, and Nick was quick to jump in and give a name to the agent they were talking about.
⠀⠀⠀⠀ "Keller," Nick commented before motioning over to Talos. "He tied Poppy and I's boss up, stole his identity."
⠀⠀⠀⠀ "I borrowed his likeness. I'm no thief," Talos attempted to protect himself, but Poppy shook her head at him.
⠀⠀⠀⠀ "It's a little like stealing,"
⠀⠀⠀⠀ "No, it's just stealing," Poppy chuckled as she looked to Talos's wife before they all began to chuckle at the situation. Talos then turned to his wife and rested his hand on her shoulder.
⠀⠀⠀⠀ "Whose side are you on here?" Talos questioned her, which only made Poppy smile.

⠀⠀⠀⠀ "You're good to go here until you recover. . . but you and your family are gonna need a new look," Nick began to explain to the Skrulls in front of them.
⠀⠀⠀⠀ "I could go back to being your boss,"
⠀⠀⠀⠀ "uh, please don't," Both Poppy and Nick replied at the same time.
⠀⠀⠀⠀ "Come on," Talos replied to the two of them as he looked between them. "I loved sporting his beautiful blue eyes."
⠀⠀⠀⠀ As everyone began talking about the color of the Skrulls eyes, everyone's voices began to muffle together as the conversation began to progress. But it wasn't too long until Carol jumped back into the conversation, meeting Talos's eyes again, "I'll help you find a new home. Finish what Mar-Vell started."
⠀⠀⠀⠀ "They can stay here with us," Monica chimed in as she began to make her way down the stairs. "Can't they, Mom?"
⠀⠀⠀⠀ "They won't be safe here, baby," Maria attempted to explain to her daughter, even though she knew that it wouldn't have been enough for her. "Auntie Carol's right. They need their own home."
⠀⠀⠀⠀ "I'll be back before you know it," Carol commented and Poppy stared at the blonde-haired woman, before looking back down at the drink in front of her.
⠀⠀⠀⠀ "Or maybe I could fly up and meet you halfway?" Monica suggested and . that was when Nick had to chime in with his own form of sarcasm.
⠀⠀⠀⠀ "Ah, only if you learn to glow like your Auntie Carol," Nick said to her, which made everyone at the table let out a low chuckle.

Poppy stood outside of Maria's house as she stared up at the night sky and she let out a heavy sigh as she stared up at the stars. She knew that it was going to be difficult for the two of them to say goodbye, especially since they had just gotten to see each other again and begin to build something that was close to the relationship that they had. Poppy didn't want to have to say goodbye to the woman, but she knew that that was just about the only thing that she could do.
As she stood outside, Carol stepped out of the house behind her and her eyes landed on the dark-haired woman in front of her. Poppy could hear the woman let out a heavy sigh, which was what made her glance over her shoulder to Carol and she gave her a small smile. Neither of them knew what to say to each other as they stared at each other, but they had to figure it out now, otherwise, they were never going to be able to say it -- not until Carol returned, and neither of them knew when that would've been. But Poppy had an idea about how she wanted the conversation to go.

⠀⠀⠀⠀ "Last stop on the goodbye train?" Poppy questioned as she stared at the woman in front of her and Carol nodded her head. "I think I should feel special or something with that. But I guess not."
⠀⠀⠀⠀ "I know that everything has been rather . . . strange between the two of us, but I want to be able to learn who it was that we were when we were together," Carol began to say before she glanced down at her hands before she offered a device. "I gave a similar one to Nick, but this one will be special because it's just for you."
⠀⠀⠀⠀ "A pager?" Poppy questioned, and Carol nodded.
⠀⠀⠀⠀ "In case you ever want to talk, that way I'll get the message and I'll come back for as long as I can to talk to you. That way, the two of us will be able to do whatever it is that we can to make sure that we don't lose toe relationship that we've, well, already lost." Carol explained to her and Poppy nodded her head. The blonde tilted her head to the side for a few seconds, before she gave Poppy a small smile. "I'll be back for you."
⠀⠀⠀⠀ Poppy glanced up from the pager and she stared at Carol for a few seconds, before she gave her a small smile, "I'll hold you to that."
The two of them stared at each other for a few seconds, before Carol had pulled her into a tight embrace for a few seconds before she had turned around and flew off into space. Leaving Poppy behind once again, but for a reason, that was bigger than the universe itself.

The organization had been working with supernatural things for as long as it was founded, but it was strange to explain everything that she had gone through to Fayre. The two of them had sat around a table with coffees in their hands as they talked about everything that Poppy had gone through. She even had to explain why it was that Nick Fury had lost sight completely out of his one good eye. But there was something else that Nick Fury was thinking of doing, and it was something that Poppy knew that she wanted to be apart of.
The woman made her way down the various corridors until she found herself outside of Nick Fury's door. She watched as Phil Coulson walked out of the room and when she stepped into the doorway, she found Nick typing something at his desk and she tilted her head to the side for a few seconds, before walking into the room. Her eyes flickered over to the Flerken as Goose laid in a little bed that Nick had bought him before she looked to the new Director.
⠀⠀⠀⠀ "Sir," Poppy spoke as she stared at the man in front of her, and that was when Nick lifted his eye to see her. She gave him a small smile before she noticed the box on the desktop. "I hope you're not choosing a replacement eye, I think that you would be menacing enough with one eye."
⠀⠀⠀⠀ "It's good to see that you still think the same way I do, Langdon," Nick chuckled lightly as he stared at her before he motioned her over to his desk. "You said that you wanted to be a part of the next phase of S.H.I.E.L.D? Well, I have it settled," The woman made her way over to the desk and she looked onto the screen to see that the title of the document read The Avengers Initiative. She pressed her lips together, before glancing down at Nick. "What do you think, Langdon? Are you up for the challenge of helping me with the Avengers Initiative?"
⠀⠀⠀⠀ And there was only one way for the woman to answer his question, "Sir, it would be an honor."

Shadowrun: Blake Island School of Magic
It's a high tech, low life. It's the Seattle Metroplex in 2074. It rises like a steel and concrete cancer out of the earth. Poverty is rampant, corruption is everywhere, crime is out of control, corporations basically control everything, the old United States is fractured, magic has come back and now it turns out that humanity has been joined by elves, dwarves, orks and trolls. The old world ended but the rent is still due. Life goes on. You'd be surprised what people can adapt to, especially if they don't have a choice. One of the places where life goes on is just west of Seattle. Surrounded by the waters of the Puget Sound is an island. On that island is the Blake Island School of Magic. A decade ago it was known for producing some of the most talented awakened in the world. That reputation was hijacked by the wealthy corporate elite who now park their teenage children there. And since it's a boarding school, their parents mostly forget about them. Three young people, who are certainly not wealthy or elite, are chosen this year to attend this school of magic in hopes of revitalizing their reputation for talent. One from the ash drifts of the Puyallup Barrens, one from the most densely populated slum hive in the world and one from prison. This is their story. -- This story is set in the Shadowrun universe. If you're not familiar with Shadowrun, it mostly tells the stories of deniable mercenaries called shadowrunners in a cyberpunk dystopia. Instead of telling another story solely about shadowrunners, this story will tell the tale of young people navigating a world that is indifferent to them at best and actively hostile at worst. Shadowrunners will be in the story and we'll see them operate, but they won't be its main focus. This story originally began in 2017 as a passion project and continues to this day on the Somethingawful.com forums. The unedited version is over a million words strong. There are currently seven books in this series and I am currently in the process of editing them. If you read this story then you won't lack for content. -- The Topps Company, Inc. has sole ownership of the names, logo, artwork, marks, photographs, sounds, audio, video and/or any proprietary material used in connection with the game Shadowrun.
