She was sure that she had sent them out and that they were going to bring something home that would do something other than cause harm and destruction. And, just as she had thought, the three of them had returned to the Avengers facility with the artifact that Poppy had sent them after and the dark-haired woman stared down at the artifact with Fayre in the room and the two of them stared at it, arms crossed over their chests.
Fayre furrowed her brows as she stared down at the artifact that was brought back and she began to go through all of the processes that they needed to go through in order to get the answers that they needed. Poppy glanced over her shoulder and looked out of the observational windows to see that Carol was talking with a few of the other Avengers and she was glad to see that the woman was talking with them about what it was that they were doing. She believed that the woman was right at home with the rest of the superhero team and that there were things that could get her to return to the world of Earth – her home away from the Skrulls and the work of Captain Marvel.
Poppy clenched her jaw as she turned her attention back over toward Fayre as she began to stare down at the artifact in front of her before she took a step closer to the table that they were working at. The two of them were quiet for a few seconds as they worked with it and began to dust off all of the things that were hidden beneath the mud and dust. Poppy stared at it and she could tell that there were things that they could read off of it and things that they would be able to do in order to help Fayre.

But as they stared down at it, Poppy could tell that there was something on Fayre's mind as she stared down at the artifact in front of her. She began to wonder if she found something about the artifact that wouldn't be able to help her and that it was only going to turn against her, as the artifact that had killed Cassia Linea did. Poppy didn't want to watch another one of her friends die because of something that S.H.I.E.L.D had brought back within their walls, and she was going to do whatever it was that she could to make sure that Fayre was going to be safe and that her immortality was going to be able to be taken away.
Fayre took a step away from the table that she was at and she turned her attention over to Poppy for a few seconds as she stared at her, resting a hand against a table. Poppy tilted her head to the side as she stared at the woman in front of her before she nodded her head to her.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ "What? What'd you find?" Poppy questioned her as she stared at the woman in front of her.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Fayre pressed her lips together as she stared down at the artifact for a few seconds, before back over to Poppy, "It seems that the artifact resembles the one that S.H.I.E.L.D had brought back for Cassia to look over . . . which makes me believe that it has Angelic properties—"
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ "—So, you think that we should ask Angelisa to come and look at it?" Poppy questioned as she folded her arms over her chest as she stared at the woman in front of her. The other light-haired woman stared at her for a few seconds, before nodding her head. Poppy stared at her for a few seconds, before nodding her head. "Well, at least we were able to look it over and realize it now before we began to take it apart and open it to realize that it unleashed a disease that was going to put you in a hospital . . . and, well, kill you."

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Fayre clenched her jaw for a few seconds, before nodding her head, "I believe that we have to get Angelisa back to Earth and look over this artifact as soon as we can before we continue to look it over. She will have a little bit more of an understanding as she may have been the person to create it – again." She folded her arms over her chest as she stared down at the device. "I just hope that it will turn out to be the one thing that can take my immortality away."
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Poppy stared at her for a few seconds, before she glanced over to the observation window for a few seconds, before she nodded her head, "And maybe if that doesn't work, maybe Carol knows of something from her travels through space," She shrugged her shoulders slightly as she brought her attention back over to Fayre. "We never know what's floating through space, so maybe there's something that she's found that could help you."
The two of them stared at each other for a few seconds, before Fayre made her way out of the lab, going to make contact with the Angel that was going to look over the artifact. Poppy stood in the lab for a few seconds as she stared down at the artifact and she began to wonder if it was another angelic artifact. She knew that it couldn't be another coincidence that there were two angelica artifacts that had landed on Earth, but then again, it wouldn't have been new.
Stranger things had happened on Earth and she wouldn't have been surprised if there were far more angelic artifacts that were spread over the globe and that they were going to be able to track them all down. That would mean that there were far more ways to figure out a way to get rid of the immortality that Fayre no longer wished to have. Poppy would've done whatever it was that she could in order to help her friend, and if that meant that they had to wait for the Angel to make her way back to Earth, then that was what they were going to have to do.
Because all they seemed to have was time when immortality was involved.

The world traveler from the future
The world, under the guide of the System, was prospering. The Dungeons gifted untold riches to those brave enough to challenge them, and the System watched and helped those who were willing to complete its Quests. But not Charles. As soon as he appeared inside a dark cave, the system told him that he was an anomaly, that he was not worthy of its gifts. His mind was damaged. His AI companion was convinced that he was in a world of sword and magic. All around, schemers and manipulators tried to play their part in a story that was thousands of years old. Spanning entire planes and worlds. And yet, he only saw what he wanted to see. For a while, it worked. Slowly, but inevitably, it became impossible. The threat was too big to ignore, the evidence too strong. He was just a pawn in a game so large that it was impossible to comprehend. At its center, the System. The System was not what it seemed. Blood & Noodles
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] As they always have, humanity hunts the gods roaming the world, craving the supernatural power that flows within their veins. Even a drop is zealously guarded, passed from master to student through the ages. It is with this stolen power that the Blooded - those with divine blood coursing through them - grasp beyond mortality and achieve prestige, power, and greatness. Yet, for every fraction of power gained, thousands perish, slain by the gods' supernatural prowess. But everything is beginning to change. Eight years ago, for the first time in human memory, a god was felled. Part-time chef and full-time nuisance Orvi wants nothing to do with gods. Living in a derelict city, his only concerns are ensuring his adopted family's restaurant is prosperous and how to best beat the neighbourhood boys in a fight. If he's lucky, he might even snag a date with the farmer's daughter at the market. But even though he cares nothing for the gods or their blood, the world won't leave him alone forever. Because to reach godhood, one must first leave their humanity behind. *** The first arc of Blood & Noodles follows the adolescent Orvi as he attempts to navigate his rapidly changing home and - by his own definition - protect his family. The story is told almost entirely in the first-person, from the perspective of a teenager who isn't always the sharpest tool in the shed. There are tragic elements, especially in the current arc. It's character-focused and driven, though the protagonist's shenanigans are backdropped by a world operating independently from him. Orvi's a generally light-hearted character, and though the story veers into darker territory, I also want it to be able to make readers smile. Action sequences, despite the fantastical elements, are meant to be grounded and clearly-conveyed; Orvi is a brawler, not a warrior. I'm trying to write a story that's enjoyable to read and flows nicely, mainly because it's more fun to write. I'm also trying to improve my writing, so any feedback, whether positive or negative, is welcome!
