She pressed her lips together as she stared at the other woman and she couldn't believe how lucky she was that the woman that she had cared so much about was still there with her. That the woman that she wanted to be with was lying beside her and was going to always be there for her, no matter what it was that she needed from her. The ghosts in her mind were leaving her alone as she laid there beside Carol and she wished that there was nothing more that they had to do for the day.
Poppy reached for Carol's blonde hair and she began to run her fingers through her hair, and she smiled to herself as she ran her fingers through her hair. Carol stared up at Poppy as the two of them laid there beside each other, neither of them taking their eyes off of each other and Poppy wished that the two of them could've stayed like that forever, but she knew that they couldn't. She knew that they couldn't stay like that forever and that they were going to have to break away and that Carol was going to have to return to the Skrulls and continue to help them with whatever was going on in the universe. Carol had a job to do, as did Poppy, but she just wished that there were things that she could do to be with her.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ "I wish that we could stay in this moment," Poppy commented as she stared at the woman beside her, and Carol met her gaze for a few seconds, and she nodded her head.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ "I know, I do, too," Carol replied to her and she gave her a smile as she reached over to her and she rested her hand on her hip. The two of them continued to stare at each other for a few seconds before Carol let out a heavy sigh. "Though, I'm going to have to return to the Skrulls and help them."

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ "I know, but I just wish that I could lock you in this room and keep you to myself," Poppy smiled as she scooted closer to Carol and rested her head on her chest and Carol let out a chuckle as she pressed a kiss to her forehead before she broke away. The two of them rested on their sides as they held onto the covers and they stared at each other. Carol reached over and caressed her cheek for a few seconds, before letting out a sigh.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ "I'll still be able to visit you and talk to you every single day," Carol replied to her and Poppy nodded her head and the dark-haired girl nodded her head. The two of them stared at each other for a few seconds, before Carol leaned in and pressed her lips against her own for a few seconds before Carol crawled out of the bed and began to pick up her clothes.
But as Carol began to pick up her clothing, that was when Poppy's eyes were drawn over to a corner of the room and her eyes landed on a ghost. She pressed her lips together as she stared at the ghost, but that was when she realized that it wasn't a human ghost or an inhuman or anything in between. It was an alien ghost that she hadn't seen in years and she swallowed deeply as she stared at the creature in front of her. She narrowed her eyes at the ghost in front of her and she shook her head as she stared at the supernatural being in front of her, before Carol turned her attention over toward her.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ "Hey," Carol commented as she noticed that something was bothering the other woman and Poppy turned her attention over to her and gave her a small smile as she hugged the sheets to her body. "is everything okay? Is there a ghost in the room that's bothering you?"

Poppy knew that she couldn't lie to the woman in front of her about anything, and she knew that she had to tell her the truth. Carol could read through the lies that the other woman told, and she knew that she was going to have to tell her exactly what it was that she was seeing, and that was when she let out a sigh as she nodded her head.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Carol made her way over toward her again and she knelt down in front of her again and rested both her hands on her shoulders as she stared at her, "The ghosts can't hurt you if you don't let them, Poppy, alright?" Carol spoke to her, and Poppy knew that. She did. She knew that they couldn't harm her and that they were nothing but a bit of spectral energy that wanted to tell her something that would help them.
She knew that she wasn't going to be able to talk to the ghost until Carol was gone, and that meant that she was going to have to hurry up with the goodbye process. Something that she didn't want to do, but she knew that she was going to have to do it. Poppy gave Carol a small smile as she nodded her head before she crawled out of bed and she began to dress herself, and when she was all dressed, she began to follow Carol out of the bedroom and that was when they made their way out of the facility and into the backyard of the Avengers Facility.
The two of them stood in front of each other for a few seconds and Carol reached over and caressed her face again as she brushed her thumb against her cheekbones for a few seconds, before letting out a heavy sigh. Poppy was the one to wrap her arms around her neck and pull her into an embrace and she held onto her for a few moments, not wanting to let her go before she was forced to. But as soon as she let go of Carol, she gave the woman small smile and waved to her, before watching Carol Danvers take off into space again.
And that was what left her in the middle of the backyard with the ghost that had followed her out there. Poppy turned her attention over to the ghost and she clenched her jaw as she stared at the blue-skinned alien and she shook her head at them, narrowing her eyes at them, not wanting anything to do with them, knowing exactly what it was.
But by the look on their face, she could tell that they had something to tell her – something that she couldn't ignore, and if she did, she would be the foolish one.

Sometimes my voice dies in my throat, buries itself beneath waves of crippling suffocation, burns itself out as cold hands tear at my laced skin. I have smiled while my eyes have cried and pleaded, my wrists numb, my lips wobbling and blue, and stars escaping this dark night that I'm trapped in. I long for a darkness that gives way to light. But I do feel the warmth of petals gathering and scattering in my cold bones, and imagine the touch and the sweetness of a kiss, and my heart rises to the surface of this sea and finds a sky painted by passing artists remaining far above our heads. I'm breathing out all the words I've kept locked under the pages of my breaking mind. And by doing so, I'm going to heal.TRIGGER WARNINGS: depression, anxiety, self harm, suicidal thoughts, OCD, panic attacks
