Scarlett pov

Sitting down on my bed had never been so relieving. It was a rather frustrating and surprising day.

Cato has found his new mate. Celine. But he rejected her, and for that I couldn't be the most guiltiest person now. Cato is still stuck up on me. Why didnt he just accept her? She's incredible and he already lost his two mates. Me and Sapphire.

Talking about Sapphire I wonder if she watches over me from up there. Her being my sister and all.. We never really had much of a relationship.

"Hey princess. Hard day today?" I hear James sit beside me.

I nod and yawn.

"You wanna sleep now?" James asked with a chuckle.

"No no. We never talk much anymore. I want to spend time with you." I say honestly.

Me and James haven't spent much time together. It's terrifying considering we are mates and we do nothing together.

"Sleep now princess. How about this weekend we go out on a small vacation?" James said while standing up.

I liked the idea of just us going out. I nod with a big smile on my face.

I hope not many more problems come up for us...

"Wait James." I say thinking of something that had been bothering me for awhile.

"Yes?" I hear a tired voice reply.

"How did Nick escape?" I ask.

Silence filled the room and a bit of awkwardness.

"Scarlett... Nick he.. Is going to help us now." James said with a tiny smile.

"Why?" I ask without hesitation.

It's quite a surprise if Nick of all people would help us. He had been my first mate who actually showed a caring side. I still do care about him even if it's just the slightest amount.

"He met his new mate. And he's vowed to protect her with his life." James said with a smile tugging at his lips.

"Who?" I ask with curiosity filling up.

I hear James chuckle at my curiosity of this subject.

"Cassy."

I froze. Cassy. My newly found friend Cassy. She found her mate. She would be happy now.

A huge smile was on my face as I fell into a dreamless sleep.

2 days later

Me and James are leaving for our vacation in 3 days. I'm so excited considering we never do anything together!! It's time to do something that will change the way we feel for each other.

"Alpha, Nick has returned!" Andy called out from his room.

I see Cassy dash out of her room and we run out too. James walked out normally and I see Nick standing and staring at me.

Cassy hugged him tightly and he hugged her back.

"I missed you." Nick said to Cassy with a smile.

She didnt reply. She simply nodded and stayed in his arms.

"Nick." My voice echoes through the hall.

He looks at me and his eyes soften.

My wolf spoke mate but I ignored it.

I forgot how soft his eyes were towards me. The way his hair felt, his extremely hot body and the way he comforted me. I remember how he used to smile at me with the cutest dimple ever.

But he isn't mine any more. James is my alpha mate that has marked me.

"Scarlett." Nick said after a few minutes and letting go of Cassy.

She stared at us cluelessly and I smile sheepishly. I never told her my story.

"Hi." I smile at him. He nodded and looked at James.

"Alpha, Luna. Would you want to hear the information I learned?" Nick said suddenly seriously.

We both nod and I look at James intently. He nods at me and motions for us to come to his office.

"Can I come?" Cassy asked.

"I'm sorry Cassy. It's private stuff only." I say with a frown.

She glared at me and stormed off.

How dare she!!!

"Nick what's up?" James asked the moment we shut the office door.

"I know... Someone is after Grace." Nick started off.

My eyes hardened and I felt angry suddenly.

"Who?" I yell.

James wraps his arms around my waist but I quickly escape them when I see Nick's sad eyes.

"Who?" I repeat softer this time.

"A man named Kyle. He has a mate though and she is also after Grace." Nick said while thinking.

"Kyle.. Is he Kyle Silcox?" James asked with a bit of worry laced in his voice.

Nick nodded.

"Kyle Silcox? Who's that?" I ask.

"A rogue king. There's many of them but he's higher up in the places." James explained to me.

I nod in understandment.

"I think Kyle wants Grace... Because his son wants a mate. And grace seemed to interesting to them." Nick sighed.

"Can we backtrack here? Who is Kyle's mate?" I ask.

"Allison Silcox. They also have a daughter who would seem to be very interesting to you guys." Nick said with a smirk.

"Daughter?" James asked.

A smile appeared on Nick's face.

"Yes. She's actually lurking around your pack as we speak. She didnt join long ago and happens to be your friend." Nick smirked.

The pieces came together for me. No way. She's using us!

"Why? I thought you guys were mates!" I exclaim.

"No definitely not. Me and Cassy are just... A thing." Nick said a bit confused.

Me and James both nod together. This is a problem.

"We have to protect our pack." I say determinedly.

I see James with a smile and Nick sighing.

"A perfect Luna." James grinned.

"Alpha James.. What are we going to do?" Nick asked ruining our moment.

I stop to think about it with James. Cassy is obviously gathering information from our pack...

"We trap Cassy. Then we simply get her to say where her parents are hiding. We bring the pack and kill both Allison and Kyle." James spoke with an alpha tone.

A hot alpha tone.

"It's a simple yet effective plan." I say with a shrug.

Nick nods in agreement and asks the next question.

"How do we trap her?"

"Easy. Take her on a date. We sneak up and knock her out. Then we take her to our cell and we get the interrogation team to get the stuff out of her." I explain.

Looks like our vacation would be delayed.. Sigh..

Nick pov

After I was excused from the alphas office I head straight for my room.

Scarlett Scarlett Scarlett. That's all that goes through my head. I had my chance. Such a precious chance to be with my mate. I ruined it. I'm a terrible mate. I need Scarlett. She's the most important girl in my life.

I never was under my alpha order. James was under a spell. My alpha was bad, but as his beta I never knew.

Scarlett.. If only my wish would come true.. Why didnt you give me the second chance? I need you more than ever.

James abused you. You gave him so many chances.

I cheated. You never turned back to me.

And Cato.. He never did anything. His love just wasnt true.

I cheated on the most beautiful, caring, smart and amazing girl in the world.

I look at the notebook that sat on my bedside table.

I sad smile was on my face. The book was called '100 reasons why I can't stop.'

Dedicated to Scarlett. The most beautiful and lovely girl in the world.

I open the notebook and read #1.

'Scarlett I don't know what would I do without you. My first reason I love you is the way you care for everyone. The look in your eyes when they're worried are so soft and sad. Your hopeful eyes begging for somebody to be okay. Even when someone hurts you, your caring side kick in. The way you react to somebody is unbelievable. I'm sure everyone knows your an angel from heaven. You're way to perfect. No person can be that caring.. Actually apparently you can. Scarlett your caring side will always be with you. That's one of the one-hundred reasons why I can't stop loving you.'

I shut the notebook and take a few deep breaths.

Scarlett.. I love you.
