《Leather Jacket Girl (girlxgirl)》Chapter Four

The two of us walked down the corridor and narrowly avoided the athletes, who were running down the hall at a pace even cheetahs could be jealous of. Once we had got to the cafeteria, Emmy and I wandered over to the main counter so that we could order ourselves some sandwiches to go. The two of us hardly ever remained inside the cafeteria. We had our own spot that we liked to go to. We got our sandwiches and then we made our way out of the room, so that we could walk to our spot in the little garden of the school.
"These chicken sandwiches are always the best. I really did miss this place. You know, for the food," Emmy said.
I just made my mouth come dramatically agape at her words.
"Oh and you too, of course, Phoebs," she told me with a chuckle, "Do you think the two of us will be okay after this year?" she asked me then, as her expression became more serious.
"We're always going to be alright, Emmy. Friends since two years ago, remember? Friends for two more?" I asked her.
"What? And then you're going to abandon me?" she joked.
I could only smirk at her words.
"No. I'm going to be friends with you even if we end up going to different universities. I love you, Emmy. You know that," I said.
"I love you too. No homo. Well, maybe a tiny bit of homo," Emmy joked.
The two of us sat there and ate our sandwiches, until we were joined by Ryder once again.
"Hey girls!" he called out with confidence, as he approached the both of us with a wide smile.

"Hey Ryder," I replied.
"What's up, Ry?" Emmy asked him.
"I was just training for the sports game this year. It's going to be a pretty big deal. I just hope that it doesn't rain like it did last year, that was shi-"
"Now that we're on the subject, I was actually thinking about joining the sports team," Emmy said.
I turned to her then and raised an eyebrow in interest.
"You were?" I asked her.
"Yeah. I was," she replied.
I grinned. I knew that she would be great at it. Well, probably. I hadn't actually seen Emmy play many sports before but I knew that she was quite a practical and talented person.
"You should totally do that!" Ryder said as a grin spread on his face.
"Thank you, Ryder," Emmy replied, with a kind expression upon her own face.
It was nice to see that the two of them were getting along or at the very least seeming to make an effort to do so. I adored the two of them very much, so it was important to me that my friends tried to get along wherever possible. As I looked at them, my mind wandered for a moment. It wandered back to new girl Courtney. I had to wonder if I would ever see her again.
"Phoebe, come out of wonderland. The two of us need to go to our next class," she said.
Right. Our next class was going to be mathematics and oh how I wasn't prepared for it. It didn't matter though, I just had to smile and nod like I had done last year. I simply sincerely hoped that the teacher wouldn't call on me. That was never a fun time for anyone involved. While the other students would groan when I got answers wrong, I would feel my palms sweat. I tended to be fairly nervous when it came to answering questions in front of the others.

As we began to work on the questions that our teacher had presented us with today, Emmy turned to me and shook her head slightly.
"This is easy," she said.
Well, I hadn't been expecting to hear that.
Emmy moved her glasses up on her nose a little, before looking back towards the paper in front of her.
"I really do mean that, too. It's easy peasy lemon-"
"Emmy please stop speaking so much. You're disrupting the others," our teacher said.
Emmy just sighed, as she muttered a curse under her breath.
I pretended that I hadn't heard it and so, it seemed, did our teacher, Mr C.
I eventually managed to pluck at the few straws I had to answer the question and handed it in once the bell rang.
As Emmy and I left the classroom, I turned back to her.
"That was torture," I said.
"That was just a mathematics lesson, Phoebe honey. It's only going to get more difficult from here," she told me.
"Spare me. Maybe I could get a tutor!" I considered.
Emmy smirked.
"Maybe," she said.
"Now what are you thinking about?" I asked her, as we began to walk down the school hall again.
The sun shone in through the window, casting shadows down the hall.
"Just about how you totally lost your cool when you saw Courtney earlier. And I thought I was bad at interacting with the fairer sex. I was underestimating you, obviously. That was incredible," she teased.
I simply narrowed my eyes at her in my displeasure at her words.
"Shush, Emmy. I only came out a few months ago. You came out years ago and you're still awkward when you talk to women. So, what I'm saying here is that you can't pick on me for that, alright?" I asked her.
Emmy sighed.
"Alright, alright. Deal. I do dare you to ask out a girl by the end of the week, though," she told me.
"Deal," I said, although I was a little nervous. Now, I really did have to go through with it. I had made a deal and if there was one thing that Emmy and I never did, then it was back out of our deals. We had to follow through.
"I dare you to do the same," I told her.
Emmy just exhaled with slight nervousness.
"Let's be realistic about this, Phoebe. You do it. You're the one that really wants a girlfriend. I'm just chilling," she said.
"If you say so, Rose," I replied.

I thought that I could push myself away from all my friends, all my family, stop them from missing me after I was gone. I thought that I could handle it on my own, that perhaps the world was better off without me. I was wrong. So please help me, I'm dying. Save me, I'm falling. They tell me I won't survive. Please catch me, because if you don't, I'll shatter. I can't grab on anymore, I can't keep fighting. It's going to swallow me up. My name is Alyssa Gray, and by the time you finish reading this, I'll be dead. ________________________________ A few warnings and things to note: -I've put up the tramatising content tag due to a lot of mentions on death, dying, illness, and a mother who tends to be rather cruel. I know that I take a perspective that many will strongly disagree with, and I'm okay with that. Just be warned that this isn't lighthearted stuff. This is real, and death is real, and this part streaches beyond the fiction into reality. -I'm going to say a minor spoiler, but I don't want it to take you unaware because it is something to be aware of. At one point, my MC attempts suicide and fails. It's a very violent scene and I will put up the gore tag after writing this, and it's also just really depressing. If this will be triggering, you need to be aware of this before you read it. -This is a christian book. It may go against some of your beliefs. I hope that you can read and comment anyway even if some of it does not sit well with you. Credits for the cover go to the user 'Media in Sanity'. Your help and assitance has meant so much to me, God bless you in your writing and your endevours. A proud member of WriTE. I've promised to finish this fiction and update it at least once a month. My schedule is very irregular, and I'm working on that, but I'm going to do everything I can to make sure that this book stays out there. I'm not ending it until it's done.
