Taehyung did something that he never thought in a million years he'd do. He picked up his phone and dialed Taylor's number, the thought of Taylor going to find out the sex of Graycen and his baby was exciting and he wanted to go with her. Even if it meant begging Taylor on letting him tag along.
"Hello, this is Taylor speaking. May I help you?"
He took breath of relief and plopped down on his couch, "Oh thank Goodness you answered the phone, Taylor. How is everything?"
"Who is this? You sound very familiar."
"It's Taehyung, listen-"
"- oh hey," he was taken by surprise at how friendly Taylor sounded, "how are you?"
"I guess I'm fine," I cleared my throat, "but I heard that you're going to find out the sex of the baby tomorrow."
Taylor chuckled a little before verifying, "Yes, I'm super excited and I cannot wait until I find out. Is that why you wanted to talk to me?"
"I was wondering if I can join along," Taehyung nervously said, "not to get the sex for myself but to tag along for support."
"Are you out of your mind, dickhead?!"
"Wh-"
"- I'm going by myself and that's that. Besides, aren't you and Graycen not supposed to see each other?! I am related to Graycen so that means you're seeing her if you're coming along with me. No thanks!" He sucked his teeth after she hung up on him.
She was always extra and at times Taehyung didn't even know how she was tolerable to the human mind. Instead of stressing himself over it, he put two in two together and figured that Taylor was going to the doctor's office that Graycen went to before with the other baby.
Taehyung called off going to the bar with Jin and Jimin, he wanted to be at the doctor's office early. He had no idea what time Taylor was going but wanted to be safe and assume she'd be there early.
Before Taehyung left that morning, he found himself inside of the shabby nursery room. Flashbacks of him destroying the room and breaking the crib and dismantling the changing table crept up into his mind. "Wow, I was so angry." He said to himself as he looked around the room. He hasn't been back in the room ever since then. All the broken furniture were still in there, but the rocking chair that was in the middle of the room on a rug.

The clock in his car read the time as 9:30 and he was sitting in the doctor's office parking lot, hoping that he was correct about Taylor coming early in the morning. In his luck there was a cafe across the street so he traveled by foot to grab a bagel. Luckily, by the time he got back to the doctor's office parking lot he spotted Taylor.
"God, this is going to be difficult." He mumbled to himself before hurrying to the door and opening it before she gotten the chance to. "Good morning, you look hideous as usual."
Taylor scowled and used her hand to close the door, "What the hell?! I told you specifically not to come, dickhead. How did you even know where I was going to be?!"
"Calm down," he rolled his eyes before mumbling under his breath, "you're worst than your sister."
"I heard that, dickhead!"
"That was the point," Taehyung chuckled before reopening the door, "you can't hate me for caring, I'm just here for support."
"You can't be aro-"
"- correction, I can't be around Graycen." He said in a matter of factly tone. "C'mon, we really don't have all day. Do we?" Taylor brushed past him, giving up on even arguing back with him.
They both waited after Taylor checked in and he noticed how fidgety she was, "Hey, are you alright?" They both sat in chairs that were across from each other and her feet kept accidentally kicking his legs. "You're kicking me, it's a bit annoying but you're so much of a wimp that it doesn't hurt me."
His antagonizing came to a stop as he saw how nervous she was, "Taylor, everything is going to be okay. Why do you look you're going to vomit?"
"I'm honestly so overwhelmed like I cannot believe I'm sitting here about to find out the sex of my niece or nephew," she blurted out causing him to lightly smile, "this is a big deal and no you cannot find out the sex."
"Of course I can't," he said sarcastically before playing around with his rings, "so about the reveal party..."

"What about it?"
"Has Graycen talked about, you know, inviting me?"
Taylor rolled her eyes before laughing, "She has to invite you. You're obligated to go and trust me if she EVER thinks about leaving you out I will kick her in the throat. She hasn't been planning it, she wants me to plan it."
Taehyung took a breath of relief before Taylor took his hand into hers and she gave it a light tap, "Graycen will always love you, man. Yes, you both are going through it but she will never not cherish you and the same goes for the family. My family loves you."
Taehyung was taken back, his mouth didn't move and his eyes were stuck on the floor. He didn't even realize that Taylor gave him a light squeeze on his shoulder before leaving. Thoughts about Graycen quickly flooded his mind on what if he did things differently. Then thoughts about the whole divorce started to flood his head.
Taehyung waited at the table for a whole forty five minutes for Taylor to come out and when she did she was sobbing, causing Taehyung to groan.
"Stop crying, I hate crybabies." He mumbled as he joined her in exiting the doctor's office.
"I cannot wait until you guys find out the sex," she grinned using the back of her hands to wipe her tears, "I'm going to stay up all night to make sure this is the best reveal party known to mankind." Taehyung chuckled lazily before squeezing Taylor in his arms. "Taehyung, you're squishing me."
"I am so glad I met you," he genuinely shared, "you're an amazing person and a amazing sister to me. Thank you, Taylor." It took a little bit of time before Taylor hugged him back. "Alright hideous," he let her go before patting her back, "I gotta go to work."
"Don't you have counseling today?"
He nodded, "Yeah, a late night session. The counselor thinks that us having a meet up at ten at my apartment will create a different atmosphere." He didn't care much of it, he thought it was foolish and unnecessary.
Taehyung got to work late as usual but instead of being in a operating room or with a patient he had to sit in his office with Dr. Edwards.
"Why is your office so childish?" Taehyung furrowed his eyebrows together before looking at her like she had two heads.
"You don't have to be here, Edwards."
"You don't always have to call me Edwards," she retorted as she took a seat on the other side of his desk, "I am not a old woman, my name is Diane."
"I don't care about your real name right now," Taehyung sternly said, gathering his paperwork, "right now we're working." Even after, Taehyung had bought her ice cream he wasn't interested on trying to know her on a personal level. Not yet, at least. "So, patient Daniel Guzzle has requested to get a endoscopic forehead lift and he wants it done tomorrow morning."
"Endoscopic?" Diane frowned before opining. "I don't think we should do a endoscopic forehead lift. That takes much longer to heal and it leaves a sc-"
"Whatever the patient wants, the patient gets." Taehyung said with a stern tone. "We're here to just make sure he picks the right choice so we can operate."
Diane scoffed, "Well, I don't think that-"
"Edwards," he cut her off and lifted his hand up, "enough. We're not there to save his pretty face that man has gotten into a car accident and he's pretty damn insecure about his forehead. Can you just trust me? I am your boss, I hope you know that."
She rolled her eyes before sighing, "Whatever, I'm going to go see if there's any surgeries I can scrub in on." Unaffected by her attitude, he just continued to look into more cases from patients at the hospital.

Cutting to Life: an NPC LitRPG (Battle Royale)
Nikola is an NPC in The World of Wills, a video game where players can feel sensations as if they were truly there. She leads a life of bloodshed and murder - that is, until one day she wakes up sapient. Just as she begins thinking real, non-scripted thoughts and making connections, she and the players in the game are told that if they die in the game, they die in real life - and it's time to get killing. But what of Nikola, the emerging AI consciousness? How does she win in a game that can only end in her being wiped from existence at the end of it all? - Updates Mondays and Fridays. Cutting to Life is a slow-burn LitRPG with a villainous (later anti-hero, or maybe still villainous, haha) female lead. It's told from the perspective of Nikola, an NPC within the World of Wills who's become sapient and is now mysteriously able to play the game as a PC. It's quite light for a LitRPG, but the system and stats become more of a focus later when Nikola herself can access them. The story gradually builds into a Battle Royale where the players' lives are on the line (if you die in the game, you die in real life), and only one party of savvy adventurers can win. They'll have to spend their time and stats wisely as dungeons promising rare gear float down from the sky - but is a legendary sword worth killing someone for, knowing they'll stay dead forever? - This story is told in third person, past tense.- This is a slow-burn LitRPG that spends a lot of time establishing its setting and characters, because I believe this will make for a better payoff in the end. As such, the Battle Royale doesn't start until chapter 30 or so.- Chapters are anywhere between 800 words and 3000 words long.- Book cover by Vixeona.Cutting to Life is also being posted on SPB and Scribble Hub.Thank you sincerely for reading.
