"Ryujin?"

The sound of your voice coming from across the room made your girlfriend lift her gaze from her lap to stare at you instead.

"There you are." You smiled and walked to her, giving her a soft kiss on her cheek. "I was wondering where you were. I was calling out for you but you didn't answer."

"Oh, I'm sorry. I was just thinking."

"Oh." You replied and frowned a little as you noticed that she was acting a little off.

Usually, she's pretty happy and she seemed so down right now.

She didn't give you a kiss or a smile like she usually does when you arrive home to her, when she's got the day off or gets home earlier than you.

She just seemed... sad.

"Do you want to share those thoughts with me, my love? I'm here to listen."

You put your hand on her knee in comfort and gave it a little squeeze. But, to your dismay, she gently took your hand and put it on your own thigh.

That was very unlike her. She never rejects you trying to comfort her.

"Baby, what is it?"

"I'm sorry." She sighed. "But I don't think this is working anymore, y/n."

"What do you mean?" You nervously chuckled. "Ryu, why do you sound as though you're going to break up with me?"

As you laughed it off, she lifted her head and stared at you with sad eyes, wordlessly confirming your thoughts.

"Wait... what? You want to break up? Are you serious?"

She nodded.

"Why? I thought everything was fine between us."

"It is but I just don't feel that spark we once had. I don't know what else to do, y/n."

You felt your heart shatter in your chest as your worst fear came true.

"Are you sure? Because I don't want to lose you."

"You won't. We can still be friends." She said with a small smile.

"No! We can't just be friends! Screw being friends, Ryujin! Do you actually think that, after a year and a half together and after all we've been through, I can just get over you easily and be okay with just being your friend? Because I am so in love with you and that's never going to change! How could you be so okay with just being friends?"

She shrugged her shoulders.

"I guess it's better than nothing."

"You can't be serious." You said as you brushed your fingers through your hair. "I can't believe this."

In need of a breather, you got up and started to walk out of the bedroom, and in a panic, Ryujin got up and followed you.

"Wait! What's going on?"

"You want to break up? I can't imagine my life without you, Ryujin. I need some air before I pack my things and find someone to stay with."

"No, you don't." She said as she put her arms around you, hugging you from behind.

"Ryujin, you're just making everything so much harder."

"Don't go." She pleaded and kissed your shoulder softly.

"You're leaving me no choice. You want to break up."

You turned around and stared into her eyes with tears in yours.

"No, baby girl, I don't." She said as she wiped one away as it fell down your cheek.

"What do you mean?"

"Y/N, you know you're the love of my life. I never wanted to break up and I never will. I was just pranking you."

"Ryujin!" You groaned and she giggled as you put your head on her shoulder, feeling both upset and relieved.

"Wait... what about the sparks? You said you don't feel that anymore. Is that true? Even just a little?"

She shook her head and brushed a lock of hair behind your ear.

"No. I still feel that same spark I always have, my love. That's never going to fade. I'm just so in love with you." She promised and put her lips on yours for a sweet kiss.

And when she slowly pulled away a moment later, you caught your breath as she put her forehead on yours.

"See?"

You smiled before pulling her in for another kiss, so relieved that it was only a prank.

Because you can't imagine your life without her.
