《Into the fire》Chapter Twelve

Wandas POV
It's been about a week since Lexi and I went on our double date with Nat and Spencer.
Lexi and I have spent most of those nights together and it's been wonderful.
No, neither of us has asked the other one to be anything official yet. There's no need to rush.
We're just enjoying our time together.
And we are definitely enjoying our time together..
But not today. Lexi had some work thing come up so she has to work late, not even entirely sure how long they'll be.
So I'm stuck back at the compound with all of the crazy people I work/ live with.
Eh, it's not so bad.
I'm currently in the kitchen making up a late lunch (maybe dinner?) for whoever is here and whoever wants to eat it.
So far I've only seen Steve and Bucky and that was a few hours ago when they were in the training room.
But I'm sure the smell of food will bring them running to the kitchen.
I live with hound dogs.
And sure enough, just as I'm finished and cleaned up most of the kitchen, Steve enters followed quickly by Bucky.
Yeah.. they've been spending a lot of time with each other. Usually can't find one without the other.
"Hey, guys," I greet them.
"Hey, Wanda! It smells amazing in here!" Bucky says as he comes up to the food.
I laugh, "yeah, probably because I made some lunch." I can see the question in their eyes (and okay, maybe I can hear their thoughts) so I answer before they ask, "yes, you can have some. I believe I made enough for everyone."
"Yes! Thank you, Wanda," Steve says as he grabs a plate for him and Bucky.
Before they've even grabbed their food, Peter and Thor also come walking in the kitchen.
"Hello boys, before you even ask, yes I made lunch and yes you can have some."
"Thank you so much, Wanda! I'm starving!" Peter says enthusiastically while getting some food.
"You make the best midgardian food, Wanda," Thor says, placing a hand on my shoulder.
"Thanks big guy. Although I'm told Nats girlfriend is quite the cook," I call out as I see Nat entering the kitchen as well.
It's just one big party.
Her face glows red although she tried to hide it.
"Natasha? You have a girlfriend and you didn't even tell us? I'm offended." Sam says as he walks in behind her.

She rolls her eyes, "I've told some of you.."
Sam scoffs, "wow. That hurts even more, Romanoff."
"It wasn't intentional, you're just hardly ever here. Besides, Wanda knows because we went on a double date," she waves it off.
"Well apparently you've been holding out on us. And she cooks too? Where'd you find her?" Bucky asks after swallowing a mouthful of food.
"While I was visiting my parents. She is incredible and can make me laugh until my sides hurt, and seriously the sweetest and.." I think she realizes she's rambling. "And yeah, she can cook." She stops.
"Well, we all look forward to meeting her. Hopefully soon," Steve says.
"You will. Eventually. But what about Wandas girlfriend?"
Nat throws that right back at me and I wasn't expecting it, almost making me spit out my food.
"Damn it. Even Wanda has a girlfriend? What is happening to my game.." Sam says, not realizing what he said.
"And what is that suppose to mean, Wilson?" I ask with a small threat to my tone.
His eyes widen, "uh, nothing. Nothing. I just.. I meant that you were kind of against dating for a while so I was just.. surprised.. that's all."
"Uhuh. Yeah, I'll remember that, Sam. Might want to watch your back."
I hear him audibly gulp and it brings a smirk to my face.
"Right, sorry," he says quietly.
I can't help but laugh along with everyone else.
"What?! She could seriously mess me up if she wanted to!" Sam defends himself.
"Relax, Sam. I'm not going to hurt you. I know I was a bit closed off before, but Lexi has really helped.." was it Lexi that helped me put my walls down? Maybe not initially. But I would say she has helped continue the process. "She helped me open up." Yeah, that's it.
"Well, I'm glad to hear that. We're happy for you, Wanda, and also can't wait to meet her as well," Steve again.
"Yeah, maybe one of these parties Tony throws Nat and I can both bring our dates. Although mine isn't technically my girlfriend.. yet." I add.
"Oh? Does that mean you're going to ask her soon?" Nat asks.
"Maybe.. definitely if she doesn't ask me first. I've kind of been waiting for her to. It seemed like she was going to." I end with a confused expression on my face, but continue on, "but there's really no rush. We're both happy."

"Well, as long as the two of you are happy." Thor.
"Who knows, maybe she'll ask you tonight?" Nat hints.
"I highly doubt it," I say.
"Oh? And why's that?" Nat presses.
"Because I'm not seeing her today."
"What? How come? You two have been practically inseparable since top golf?" Nat asks, now concerned.
"You guys went to top golf? That sounds like a lot of fun! I've been wanting to try!" Peter pipes in.
"Because she has to work late and she's not sure when she'll be out of work," I respond to Nat. Then I turn to Peter. "It was a lot of fun, Pete. Although you can't drink yet, maybe we can take you with us sometime," I offer.
"Really? That would be awesome! Thanks Wanda!"
"Sure thing, kid. You just have to ask your aunt May."
"I'm sure she won't mind! I think she trusts you guys."
I quirk an eyebrow, "you think she trusts us? So she knows..?"
"That I'm spider man? No. But she knows about you all. I mean, she's seen the news. And she knows I hang out here with Tony. She trust you to protect me," he explains.
I nod my head, "fair enough. We'll set up a time, then."
We all continue eating and talking, although I kind of stay silent as I stare at my food.
"Wanda," Nat gets my attention. "Since you aren't busy tonight, want to have a girls night? Spencer is.. also not available. Might be fun for us to hang out just the two of us? It's been awhile."
"Yeah, that actually sounds like a lot of fun!"
Nat smiles, "perfect. Maybe we can watch some movies and eat plenty of junk food? Maybe do some face masks?"
"I would love all of that. Although, after cooking this, I don't think we have much left in the kitchen to eat. Especially junk food wise," I admit.
She shrugs her shoulders, "no problem. I have some paper work I have to catch up on first, but I can run to the store after? Or we can."
"If you have work to do, I could go now after I clean up and that way we'll have the stuff when you're done?" I suggest.
"Are you sure?" Nat checks.
"Positive."
"Okay, that would be great. Thanks, Wanda."
"No problem. I'll start cleaning up now and head out," I stand up already grabbing some plates so I can get started.
I hadn't realized how long we had been sitting here for as our late lunch definitely turned into a dinner.
"Hey, Wanda. Why don't Bucky and I pick up since you made the meal?" Steve offers.
"That would be great! Thanks Steve, thanks Bucky."
They say their welcomes and I'm off to the store so I can load up on some candy and junk food for Nat and I.
——————
"Popcorn or chips or pretzels?" I whisper to myself as I stand amongst the chips, looking at all of the options.
Ah, hell. Why not all three? It's not like they won't get eaten by someone.
I throw them all into the cart and continue on my way to the ice cream aisle.
But.. not before I stop to grab Nat and I something to drink. I'm again conflicted on the options, so I choose both. Never hurts to have options, right?
Right.
Ok, ice cream.
I know Nats favorite and my own, so I might as well grab both. And maybe some extra.
Alright. Maybe I'm hungry right now because everything sounds good and I can't choose any one thing.
Oh well.
They both go in the cart. And the extras..
Just as I'm about to make my way to the candy aisle, a laugh stops me in my tracks.
"I'll have whatever you want, babe. You know I'm not picky. I just ask that it's something with chocolate."
The sound of her voice has me moving again and I find myself trying to hide in the next aisle.
I don't make it.
As I try to maneuver the cart around some stand they have displayed, our eyes meet anyway.
Her fierce blue ones stopping my green ones from being able to do anything but hold their stare.
Her once jovial state freezes as she recognizes me and I see her whole body stiffen.
Her blonde partner.. maybe the one from the fire house? Must also notice her new demeanor because she looks up at her then follows the direction of her stare.
And making eye contact with her is almost just as shocking as seeing Blue Eyes.
I some how can't even breath now.
This whole situation is weird.
Blue Eyes is dating Yelena?
