《Into the fire》Chapter Seventy

Alex's POV
"I'm sorry, you think bringing in the rest of your little band for back up is going to stop me? You really think I would be here talking to you if I couldn't get away at any moments notice? Did you forget my whole teleporting talent?" I'm not mad at all. This is all so amusing, seeing the avengers try to come together to 'take me down' or whatever this is. Tony thinking he's sneaking behind my back? Comical.
"Alex, please. They won't do anything. Just, talk to us. To me," Wanda has the audacity to actually step closer to me.
I'm not stepping back. I'm not backing down, but I'm also not falling for her little charade, "I told you, you lost that chance the second.."
"Alex. Listen to Wanda. We aren't going to take you anywhere until we know what's going on," Nat cuts me off to assumably try and fool me into complacency. I may be stupid, but I'm not an idiot. Or whatever I said.
Anyway, don't they know not to interrupt a villains rant?
"We just want to talk, Alex. Nobody has to get hurt," Bucky finally says something.
"Oh, no one will be hurt on my account. But your little posse has a split in it, and I don't doubt some of you are willing to throw punches. I tried to talk to you. Most of you wouldn't give me the time of day." I shrug off their pitiful attempts and play more into their little family divide, curated by yours truly.
"Not to mention you only want me to cooperate now because you see how powerful I am, because you see the destruction I can cause. And you're afraid," I can't help but smirk. They're like fucking putty in my hands.
"Alex.. just, step away from the house and talk to us. We don't even have to leave this area, okay?" Good old Mr. America trying to bring the situation back in his control. (Emphasis on the 'old').
"Awe, aren't we talking now, though?" I pout. I am having way too much fun with this. All of that pent up anger and resentment towards the avengers is just flowing out of me like a damn river.
"Alex, don't do this. Please, let's at least step away from the building. There's no need for more destruction," Nat begs. As much as I enjoy that..

These dumb fuckers just don't get it, do they?
I can't help it, I laugh. I haven't laughed this much in a month at least.
And seeing their confused faces just makes me laugh harder.
Oh man. They're just looking around at each other trying to figure me out. The fools. I have to actually wipe tears from my eyes I was laughing so hard.
"Woo. Wow." I pull myself together. "Sorry, that was just.. thank you. For making me laugh that hard. It's been awhile," my eyes betray me as they search and find Wanda. She noticed.
Dumb move. She thinks she can take that as an invitation to talk more, that I might listen to her, "Alex.."
I hold up my hand, "no."
"But.."
"Shaking my head for emphasis now, "no."
They're silent. Wow, never thought I'd see the day (Or hear it. Not hear it?) where the avengers stood silent, not one of these dumbasses is making a sound or a move. I bet they think they're plotting something right now, that I'm falling into their trap. Like I said, dumbasses.
I see them start to shift, trying to move back from the house so I would subconsciously follow them until I didn't notice. Like I said, not stupid.
"Don't bother. Your little tricks won't work on me. BUT my little tricks will work on the house from this far away. Or farther. Or on something besides the house," damn, if I knew messing with the avenegers was these easy, and if I knew being evil was this fun.. well, let's just say I understand Loki a little better now.
The fear in their eyes betrays any confidence they're trying to portray. It dances just behind their irises, but I see it.
Time to play a little game. I know, you thought I already was? I'm stepping it up a notch.
They think I'm a villain? Let's give them a villain.
Yes, I am having fun toying around with the avengers.
No, I don't want to stop.
First things first, "I have found that so many people are obsessed with my eyes.." that's when I let the fire blaze in them, overpowering the blue that usually resides. I know only the closest to me can tell, but it does the trick and they step back.

"And Wanda.." I try to bite as much venom as I can into her name, making her flinch, "I really do love the way you can use your magic."
Now I bring a ball of flames into my hand, matching the flickering in my own eyes. I let it grow a bit, tossing it back and forth between my hands as it does, throwing it behind my back, just for fun.
"Anyone for a game of catch?" I offer a genuine smile. Because I can't help it; they're worried. No, they're terrified. They had no idea my powers reached this level. See, they must have thought I was actually setting bombs or something. Dumbasses.
I'm a broken record.
"You sick, twisted.."
"What, Tony? Just because I have a power I never chose to possess, that makes me a monster?!"
"No, but playing around like you get to decide what's good and bad like you're a god or-"
"Or you?" Got him. "Yeah, don't try this stupid shit on me. Don't play God? Says the man that toyed with an infinity stone and created a monster that just about leveled a country. You choose when you fight and when you don't? What you think is worth fighting for? Well, so am I."
I'm so mother loving sick of defending myself.
I don't need a response from them.
"You know what, I think we're done here." Well, mostly. I am going to mess with them just a little bit more. Just for fun.
"I'm sorry, but we aren't letting you near that building," great now the galaxy buffoons are trying to stop me.
"Okay, shining star, you aren't listening to me.."
"It's Star-Lord," he really cut me off to say that.
I ignore it, letting flames take over both of my hands, "I never had to be near any building to destroy it. I don't have to touch you to set you aflame." Aggressive? Maybe. But come on. Are they listening at all?
Guess I shouldn't be surprised that they aren't. They're still liars. And I still have to burn this building to the ground. I did have a little something extra for this location, but they're kind of ruining my moment here.
I could just do it anyway and not really give a shit if they're in the way. They are super heroes, after all..
No. I'm not that person. Never was, never will be. And despite believing that I'm the monster they have made me out to be, that I'm the monster they created me to be, I won't give in to it.
I've been fighting all of these years to be free, to be better, to be a person. It's taken years, but I finally had the life I had let myself dream of. I won't let them take that away from me.
Fucking time to finish this.
"Now, not that I really need you to, but if you'll excuse me, I have some long awaited business to attend to.."
"Alex, wait!"
This woman.. but I let her stop me.
"Please, don't do this, don't be the monster they think you are!"
Alright, now I'm pissed.
I turn in her, not hesitating to get right up to her face. She backs away, I just step closer.
"I am not the monster," I seethe. It's already taking everything in me right now not to set this whole place burning to the ground and never look back, I do not need some stupid 'be a better person' lecture right now.
"I don't think you are.."
"No. I thought you of all people would understand, Wanda. But all it took was a few words from your fake ass family and you were willing to believe I was a monster, that I asked for this. I will never get that look of disgust you gave me out of my head. You shut me out, pushed me away.."
"I know.."
"No! You don't! None of you do. Again, I will point out the fact that none of you took two fucking seconds to care about the reasoning behind this. You jumped to your own conclusions about me and hydra."
I look over at all of them, still in their stupid poses, ready to stop me or some shit. Like I'm about to fight them.
It's pathetic. They think they're erasing all the horrible shit they've done. Most of them aren't better than the villains they try to stop.
"Well, believe it or not, you all were wrong. I was never the monster. They are."
