Taka's eyes fluttered open to the sound of chaotic noise echoing from the livingroom. The young man ran as fast as his short feet could take him only to be utterly stupified at the scene.
Bottles of alcohol rolled on the ground while his father shouted unclear words as tears fell from his eyes. "D-dad are you alright?" Taka asked, cautiously inching closer to the hysterical man. "Dad-" a violent punch met Taka's stomach throwing him to the floor. He remained on his knees clutching his front, choking on his own saliva.
The drunkard aimed a kick to Taka's shoulder before heading outside, leaving a sobbing adolescent in his wake. "I want to see you" Taka cried "sensei" he whispered, salty water hitting the ground.
As the morning bell went off, Toru desperately searched for his late student. When the crowds emptied the hallways, Taka finally appeared, out of breath. "Did you run all the way here?" Toru frowned at Taka's nod. "Did anything happen, Takahiro?" Toru inquired with a warning tone. The student ignored the chills running down his spine and shook his head "I'm perfectly fine" he faked a smile.
Moments later, Taka's heart increased in speed, it raced faster than his running. He cracked his lids open to meet his teacher's broad chest. "I'm here for you" The blonde man tightened his grip around Taka's fragile shoulders, hoping for his message to be delivered. Why was Taka lying to him? He wondered again, as he watched Taka stagger to his class.
The torturing long school hours were far gone when Taka ran to Toru's side, preparing for their habitual walk home. Toru's lips wore a smile as he ruffled the younger's black curls.
Up the stairs Taka jogged, singing himself his happy song. He pushed the door forward to find an unusual silence lying behind. Suddenly, his hair was caught in a brutal grip. Objects all around the house were thrown at him. And then an aggressive wooden staff landed on his spinal cord, pushing him to the ground, motionless.

"I told you that I don't want to see you talking to anyone" his outraged father hissed, lifting him from the front of his shirt before throwing him to the cold floor again; the only one that catches him when he falls.
The abused boy dragged his swollen body to the bathroom and locked the door. His knees wobbled as he sat on the ground once again, hugging his knees. "I don't wanna be here" he whispered, wiping his cascading tears.
Taka's eyes lost their light, his shining eyes now turned dull black as his soul fell into the hopless pits of desperation. Over the past months, his soul slowly cracked down, falling into the darkness beyond retrieval. The light of hope suddenly went out as he spotted a razor on the stand. "I don't want to live" he mumbled, limping towards it.
He held the metal close to his wrist as tears ran down his face. Taka pressed his wrist and closed his eyes, ready to face death.
I'm here for you
"Takahiro" Toru uttered flashing his brightest smile.
Taka's eyes flew wide open. The blade clattered on the ground as more memories of his teacher trailed in his mind. Their precious moments together popped one after another like a perfectly produced movie.
Yamashita Toru wasn't just his teacher, he was his light,he was his hope, he was his saviour, he was the one to make him smile. He was the one Taka fell for.

Save a traitor, become a traitor—she’s thrust into a world beyond the choking mists, where not all is as it seems. But at least she has her stolen knowledge.
