《Baby Daddy》21. Indie

"Have you heard from any of your friends recently?" Draco asked as we were sitting in his bath together, relaxing.
"No, I haven't actually", I said as Draco played with my wet hair. "I owled them a few days after I arrived here though to let them know Indie and I were safe."
"What did you say?" he asked out of curiosity.
"I told them not to reply as it was too dangerous. I couldn't risk someone seeing the owl and finding out I was here."
"Oh, okay", he said.
"What about you? Have you heard from anyone?" I asked as he started braiding my hair.
"No one special", he replied, very focussed on getting my braid neat.
"What d'you mean no one special?" I asked, curious as to what he meant by it.
"Well, I've received a couple of letters from Pansy. And by a couple, I mean like one a day", he chuckled.
"And did you reply to any of them?"
"God no!" he said, making me laugh. "I threw them all out as soon as I saw they were addressed from her."
"And done!" he exclaimed once he'd finished the braid. I looked over towards the mirror and examined his work of art.
"Wow", I said when I saw how perfect it was, "You're getting really good at this".
A few weeks ago, Draco asked me to teach him how to do some simple hairstyles so that when Indie is older and has enough hair, he can do it for her. I, of course, happily agreed to teach him and he is surprisingly very good at it.
"It's Indie's birthday tomorrow", I reminded him.
"I can't believe she's already almost one!" he said as he wrapped his arms around my waist to pull me closer to him.
"I know, it feels like only yesterday I gave birth to her", I smiled, remembering that day vividly.
"And for me it feels like it's only been a few days since I met her, definitely not nearly eight months", he said, also smiling at the memories of meeting her for the first time.
"I don't think I ever asked you, but what was going through your head when you found out and met her?" I asked, wanting to know the answer.
"Well, I was incredibly worried about what I was going to tell Pansy because I was and still am madly in love with her", he said sarcastically.

I chuckled at his answer then said, "No, seriously."
"Well, when you first told me, I thought you were joking, but when I realised you were telling the truth I was scared and I was worried. I was obviously scared about what you were telling me and what was going to happen, and then I was worried that I had let you go through that whole process on your own and that I wasn't there to support you. And then when I met my beautiful Indie for the first time I just felt pure love. As though it was meant to be. As young as we were, and still are actually, I was so glad that you got pregnant in some ways because not only did I get the most perfect daughter in the world out of it, but I also got the most amazing girlfriend there ever was out of it."
I was speechless with what he just said. I felt tears sting in my eyes, and I think Draco noticed them too because he said, "Don't cry you big baby!" causing us both to laugh.
"That was- was so sweet Draco", was all I managed to say when we stopped laughing.
"So, how about you? What did you think when you found out you were pregnant?" he asked.
"Well, for that past week, I was sick pretty much every morning. I just assumed it was nerves from the OWLs. But, when I vomited twice on the last day of exams, Ash forced me to go to the infirmary, so I reluctantly went. So then Madam Pomfrey took a few tests and told me I was pregnant and, like you said, I thought she was joking, but then eventually realised she wasn't. I was obviously freaking out about everything and what was going to happen. I went home a few days later and told my sister and parents who were quite disappointed, of course, as I expected them to be, but luckily they were still very supportive. All of my friends had the same reaction as well. The months passed and my friends were so helpful with everything, always offering to help me. And then, the labour happened. It was by far the worst pain I've ever experienced in my life. It felt like someone was trying to cut my stomach open. But then, when I have birth I knew it was totally worth it. As soon as I saw her beautiful pale blonde hair-"

"And gorgeous deep blue eyes", Draco interrupted.
"-I knew that she was perfect, and that I would love her unconditionally until the day I die. It was definitely the best day of my life. And then, when you met her for the first time, it felt as though my life was finally complete. As if you were the missing puzzle piece to my life. And every day since then, despite some of the inconveniences, has been a dream and I love watching our love for one another grow as the days go by".
"I love you", Draco said as he kissed my neck.
"I love you more", I replied, leaning back against his bare chest.
"Not possible", he whispered, making my smile so much.
I was quiet for a few minutes as we just lay in the bath relaxing, but I broke that silence by asking, "Would you ever want anymore kids?"
"Definitely. Probably not right this moment in time, but maybe in a few years time when everything has calmed down."
"How many?" I asked, wondering if he'd ever thought about it as much as I have.
"I'm not sure but I know I want quite a big family. Growing up as an only child was incredibly lonely and I always wished I had a little sister or a little brother to play with. It would've made my whole childhood so much better, so I definitely want that for our children." I couldn't help but smile when he said our children.
"And you?" he asked, "How many kids do you want? If you've ever thought about it, that is."
"Well, probably about four or five, or something like that. I absolutely love my sister, even though we still aren't on good terms right, and I always wanted more siblings to play with, so I'd like it for our kids to have that too."
I could tell Draco was about to say something, but he was stopped when we heard Indie cry in the bedroom.
"I guess that's out cue to get out", I said as I stood up out of the bath and started to dry myself off.
"Yeah, I guess so", he said, before he followed me out of the bath and dried himself off as well.
-----
We were woken up by the sound of someone knocking on our bedroom door.
"Who is it?" Draco asked, his voice still sleepy.
"It's me", Narcissa spoke through the door.
The door handle started turning and his eyes widened when he realised neither of us were wearing any clothes.
Draco ran out of the bed as fast as he could and slammed the door closed before Narcissa could come in, "Just a second!" he said as we both hurriedly scrambled for some clothes to put on.
"But-" she began, but said a quiet "oh" when the realisation hit her of why she couldn't come in.
"Come in", Draco said about a minute later when we both had our clothes on.
"Sorry dears," she said, walking in and straight past us, over to Indie's crib, "I just wanted to wish the birthday girl a very happy birthday." She picked Indie up out of her crib and started cuddling her and singing the tune to 'Happy Birthday'.
Draco and I just stood there awkwardly, not knowing what to do until, a few minutes later, she sang a last round of 'Happy Birthday' and started walking over to the door.
"I'll back later with some little snacks and presents for her, so you two can get back to whatever you were doing before I knocked", she said, giving me a wink.
"Mom, we weren't-" Draco began, but Narcissa silenced him.
"It's okay dears, it's nothing to be ashamed of", she said, and with that the walked out the door and shut it behind her.
"Oh my gosh, she's so embarrassing", Draco complained, covering his face with his hands.
"She may be embarrassing for you but I think she's hilarious", I giggled.
"Of course you do", he said, sarcastically rolling his eyes.
We celebrated the rest of Indie's birthday together with Draco and Narcissa, and my parents were even able to pop in and sneak by Lucius, which was nice. We had so much fun and Indie got spoilt rotten. From Narcissa she got some toys to help her to walk, from my parents she got a bunch of other toys and, from Draco and I, she got an endless supply of clothes, more than she'll ever need, but we all love to spoil her. Overall, it was such an amazing day and we all bonded so much. It definitely lightened up the spirits a bit and took our mind off of what was going on in the world around us for a while.
Let's just hope everything stays this way...

Code Reader Kagami (LitRPG)
Sometimes things happen in this world that we are not in control of. Sometimes we are to a certain degree, and sometimes we are completely in control. However, this is a tale that constantly questions those boundaries. The story follows Kagami, a young programmer, as he winds up in a world almost alien to him. If it were up to him, he would have never visited this world and would rather stay raising his young daughter. Was it through his own actions that he had wound up here? Was it due to several combinations of factors? Or was it something he completely chose. These are questions that constantly haunt Kagami’s mind as he wanders this world and ponders his actions. Unfortunately, the glaring truth of it all refuses to ever look him in the eyes. Each night as he looks up at the night sky, he wonders if the end of this would turn out like the game he made. A tale of Guts and Glory… or would it turn out like he fears, a tale of blood and tears. Regardless of how it turns out, he will one day unveil the truth enshrouding it all. And perhaps in doing so, unveil the fate of his old world, enshrouded by mystery. ___________________________________________________________________________ While this is a typical Isekai started by the infamous truck-kun, the story is most definitely not what is to be taken at face value. I love making tragic twists into these types of stories. For Code Reader Kagami, you'll begin to see a descent into psychological madness. As your hero changes entirely from the moral man he initially was. If you're not a fan of dark aspect stories, this one is not for you. Thank you~
