《Baby Daddy》36. Pansy

"Of course not!" I exclaimed, laughing at his assumption.
"Why are you laughing? How do you know you're not?" he said, his face still scrunched up with concern.
"Because, Draco, I'm on birth control", I told him. "You don't think we'd be doing all these things if I wasn't, do you?"
"Oh..." he said, "sorry." He looked over to Indie to quickly check if she was alright, and saw that she playing with some salt on the table.
"Don't be sorry, thanks for looking out for me though", I smiled, knowing that he was worried about me.
We heard a laugh coming from the side of us and Draco and I both turned our heads to see who it was.
"What are you laughing at, Parkinson?" Draco spat.
"Nothing", Pansy said as she went back to reading what looked to be a magazine.
"Well obviously it was something, people don't laugh for no reason so go on, humour me", he said as he narrowed his eyes at her.
"Fine, if you really want to know then", she closed her magazine and placed it the table as she looked back and forth between us and let out another little giggle.
"I was just thinking about how people should be careful where they hide their birth control. You wouldn't want people, let's just say, tampering with it", and with that, she stood up from her chair and walked out the pub, leaving both Draco and I wide eyed.
"You don't think she..." I said, not wanting to believe that she would go that low.
"It's Pansy, I wouldn't be so shocked if she did", he said as he turned back to face me.
"Oh my god, how could I be so stupid?!" I said as I put my head in my hands.
"You're not stupid darling, how could you possibly know that she would do that?" he attempted to comfort me.
"But what if I am, Draco? What if I am pregnant, what are we gonna do then?!" I panicked.
"Well, we don't know for sure yet, but if you are I'll be with you every step of the way and I'll help you through it", he said as he held onto both of my hands over the table.
"I don't know..." I said as I started bouncing my leg up and down under the table.
"Ah, look who it is! My three favourite people", Blaise interrupted as he walked in through the pub doors.
"Not now Blaise", Draco demanded, not taking his eyes off me.
"Having problems are you?" he joked as he came down to sit in the chair next to us, uninvited.
"Blaise, I mean it", Draco urged, now turning his face to look him in the eye and give him a slight death stare

"Jeez, sorry", he stood back up from his chair as he heard the urgency in Draco's voice and said, "Bye Indie", before walking off to the other side of the pub.
"How about we go and see Madam Pomfrey?" he said as he started to stand up off his chair. "So that we know we aren't stressing over something that isn't actually true, she could've just been lying to get us worried."
"Okay", I grabbed his hand that was extended out to help me off the chair then we made our way over to the infirmary, Draco holding Indie all the way as she was too tired to walk back.
"Do you need me to look after Indie for you?" Madam Pomfrey assumed as soon as we walked into the infirmary.
"Uh- no, not exactly", I said.
"Oh, what can I help you three with today then?" she asked as she led us over to an empty bed to sit down on.
"Well, could you do that spell to, you know, see if I'm um- pregnant?" I slightly stuttered.
"I thought you were on birth control my dear?" she questioned.
"Yeah, I am but- could you just please check?" I pleaded, wanting to know as soon as possible if I was pregnant or not so I could stop stressing.
"Of course dear", she said as she took her wand out of her dress and placed her hand on my stomach to perform the spell.
I hadn't realised that my hands were shaking until Draco held onto one to steady it. I looked over to him and he smiled and nodded his head to signal that it was okay, whatever happened.
My eyes widened as I suddenly felt a heartbeat radiating through my entire body. Although Draco couldn't feel or see the heartbeat, he knew exactly what I had just found out by my reaction.
"Hey, it's okay, it's okay", he stood up from the chair he was sitting in and kneeled down on the floor so he was right next to me and wiped the tears I didn't even know I had off of my cheeks, and Indie was standing right next to him looking quite confused.
"Draco..." I said as I looked over to him.
"It's alright, it's all going to be just fine. You've got me after all and I will be with you every step of the way, my love", he stroked his thumb over my now wet cheek.
"So, I'm guessing this wasn't planned then...?" she asked in an awkward tone.
Ever since we got engaged last month, Draco and I have talked quite a bit more about kids. We knew we wanted to have more soon, despite our age, so that they could be close in age to Indie, but we weren't planning on even trying for another one until after the wedding.

"No, someone swapped out her birth control", Draco said and I could hear the anger in his tone. I would not want to be Pansy right now, not that I ever wanted to anyway.
"They what?!" she gasped, "Who did this?"
Draco looked over to me and I gave him a nod to show it was okay to tell her. "Pansy Parkinson."
"Oh my, are you sure?" she asked, wanting to make sure we definitely knew it was her before she took any action.
"We're sure", Draco confirmed.
"Okay, I'll be back in a minute my dears", she excused herself and left the infirmary.
"So," he broke the silence that had loomed over the empty room, "how far along do you think you are?"
"I'm guessing about 2 months probably, because last time I didn't start feeling sick until a month into the actual pregnancy", I said, still not know exactly how to feel about all this.
"Are you alright?" he asked when I went silent again, sensing something was a bit wrong.
"I mean, yeah. Of course I'm excited that we're going to have another mini us running around the place, but I just wanting expecting it at all", I admitted. "I guess I'm just in shock, that's all."
"I understand, we are still in school and we weren't planning it, but you know what?" he asked.
"What?" I said.
"They will be an absolute blessing. After all, they do say that everything happens for a reason", he smiled, and I couldn't tell if he was being serious or not.
"Oh my god, you are so cheesy", I said, playfully slapping his arm.
"Well I'm sorry for being excited", he laughed.
After he said that, Madam Pomfrey walked back in and came back over to us.
"It's all sorted out", she said. I was about to ask her what she was referring to but she continued, "You're free to go now."
"Wait, before we go, is there anyway we can find out how far along I am?" I asked, needing to know how prepared I had to be.
"Oh yes, of course", she placed her hand back on my stomach again and muttered another spell before replying, "almost four months my dear."
"Four months?!" Draco and I both shouted in unison.
"But she isn't even showing yet!" Draco exclaimed as he looked down to my stomach, which only looked slightly bloated if anything.
"Yes, just because she isn't showing it doesn't mean she isn't that far along. Some pregnancies don't even start showing until six months even", she said, and I could tell she was a little taken aback by our reaction.
Draco and I both stayed silent for a while as we took in this information, both of us wondering how I could already be four months into the pregnancy without even realising I was pregnant in the first place.
I saw that Madam Pomfrey was getting quite awkward with the silence so she asked, "Would you like to know the gender? You are far enough along after all."
This was all happening so fast, I thought, I barely have anytime to register everything.
"Yes please", Draco eagerly answered, without even asking me first, but I didn't say anything as I knew how excited he was to experience this all for the first time with his second child.
"Okay, just one second", she said as she placed her hand on my stomach yet again, but I didn't mind as I was also eager to find out if we were having a boy or a girl.
I was slightly hoping for a boy more than a girl because then we would have one of each, and I could tell Draco didn't mind what the gender was at all. He told me he always thought he would rather have a boy, but when he met Indie, he couldn't imagine having it any other way.
"You are having a... boy!" she cheered as she took her hand off of my stomach.
"Yes!" As much as I loved Indie, and I thought how amazing it would be to have another one of her, I was relieved it was a boy.
"A mini me", Draco laughed and I could tell he was excited to have a boy that he could teach all his tips and tricks to.
"Okay, I'll leave you two to it", Madam Pomfrey said before walking off to the other side of the infirmary to let us talk things over.
Draco placed his hands on my stomach before placing a quick kiss on there. "Pansy is so stupid if she thought this was going to tear us apart, if anything it's going to bring us so much closer together."
"I know, Indie's gonna be a big sister!" I exclaimed.
"Mama baby!" she shouted as she placed her hand on top of Draco hand which was still on my stomach.
"That's right, there's a baby in there", he said.
Draco and I talked for the rest of the day about everything and how it was going to work. The more we talked about, the more it sunk in, making us even more excited.
Oh yeah, and Pansy got expelled.

The Animo Saga
Before history was well-recorded in the world of Ulakam, primordial animal spirits adopted humans, provided protection and developed deep spiritual connections with them. Millennia later, humans now host animal spirits and are split into tribes named for the species they host. Ulakam is slowly being consumed by a decades-long war pitting the main tribes against the smaller tribes and a group of bandits calling themselves "the resistance". Callida Animo was born into this world. Coming from a mixed family of generational soldiers, Callida joined the family business at a young age. In her words, she was practically bred, born, and raised to be a soldier. And she's good at what she does... which inevitably attracts attention that makes her unambitious self extremely uncomfortable. Love, loss, influence and growth. This is her story. Written episodically, this story focuses on relationships and character growth through a series of mini-arcs that connect to make a greater whole. (Honestly, the story would lend itself well to a TV series.) "Episodes" range from 3-7 chapters (at least so far), and average about 4 or 5 chapters. Author's note: I'm always thrilled to receive comments, follows, ratings/reviews, messages.... All forms of feedback are welcome and encouraged. However, I have no interest in begging readers for more engagement to get better visibility. I tried that with my last story and found the game soul-sucking. So! This constitutes my only self-promotion request. If you are reading this story, let me know what you think! I love engaging with my readers. We'll see if growing the readership organically is even possible. Thank you! 😘 Release schedule: Weekly on Wednesday afternoons
