"This is so stupid. Why the heck do I even have to go?" I complained. Our neighbors were having a block party in celebration of their sons graduating from college, and I in no way wanted to attend.
"Because Samantha, it's just common courtesy." Glaring at my mother, I crossed my arms being stubborn. "How come Dylan and Michelle get to stay home then?" I was referring to my two siblings. Rolling her eyes at me, my mother slipped on her heels. "For one they are nowhere close to your age, two they have no relevance to anyone this party, and three Anne specifically asked that you be there."
"But that doesn't make any sense. Why would she want me there if she knows that I don't get along with the guys?" Shrugging her shoulders, my mother ordered me to put on my shoes. "They aren't the only ones graduating love." "Yeah, because transferring from my sophomore year of college to my junior year is such a big deal." I retorted sarcastically.
Shaking her head at me, my mother chuckled softly. "According to Anne it is. So out of respect for her you're going." Giving in, I groaned. "Fine. But after ice cream I'm out."
"Make sure to save me some." Dylan chimed in. "No. Since you get to stay here, you don't get any." A pout formed on his face, and laughing I followed my mother and father across the street to where the party was being held.
Knocking on the door, it was quick to be opened. "Hi Maria. Hey Lance." Glaring at Liam, I watched enviously as my mother pulled him into a hug. "Congrats Liam! We're all so proud of you boys." Thanking her, she pulled away and ventured further into the house.

My dad was next to congratulate him. "Congrats son. You'll do well." Shaking his hand, Liam smiled and I watched as my dad disappeared from sight. His eyes then landed on me and he smirked. "Didn't think you'd show up."
"It's not like I had a choice." I grumbled, pushing past him. "What? I don't even get a hug?" Looking to him, I watched as he faked a frown. "Not a chance."
As I walked toward the backyard, a tall figure stepped in front of me, blocking my way. "Going somewhere love?" Looking up, I glared hatefully at the boy who stood before me. Harry Edward Styles. The single most annoying man on this planet. "Yes. Now would you please move?" I tried to be polite about it. I knew that picking a fight with him wouldn't get me anywhere.
Scoffing, he folded his arms across his chest. "Why should I do that?" As I went to make a statement, his mother Anne came running down the stairs. "Samantha! Oh my goodness how are you dear?" Harry and I both broke our dark gaze from one another and focused it on the petite woman who held her arms out toward me.
Wrapping my arms around her, the two of us shared a hug. "I'm great. How are you?" Smiling at me, she pulled away. "Great thank you. Oh I'm so happy you could make it. It's not everyday your girl becomes a junior." Laughing at her sympathy, I followed her into their backyard.
"Well thank you, but it surely isn't as important as the boys graduating." Laughing at me, she waved her hand in front of her face. "Don't be ridiculous! Of course it is. Besides, the three of you have grown up together. It's only necessary that we celebrate your promotion as well. Just two more years and you'll be joining them!"

Now it was my turn to laugh. Anne was so full of kindness and love. Two traits her sons desperately lacked. They were full of arrogance and selfishness. Those were only two of the many reasons I despised them.
Sitting down at one of the plastic tables, I admired Anne's backyard. Ours was quite similar to hers, but she dedicated her life to gardening. All around me colorful flowers were in bloom, and bees buzzed with happiness. They also had a large pool in which the water was crystal clear.
"Hey Samantha!"
Tearing my eyes away from the beloved scenery I smiled. "Hey Louis."
Louis was Harry's best friend. He was two grades above Harry and Liam so I never knew him in school; though I did tend to seem him here quite often. He was also much nicer than the both of them. I don't know how the hell they were even friends. "Are you excited to be starting up your junior year in college?"
"Eh." I shrugged carelessly, not the least bit worried or excited for that matter. Laughing, he took a sip from his coke can. "I can tell from your enthusiasm.
Chuckling lightly, I took a small sip from my drink, before looking to Louis once more. "What about you? How's life holding up?"
Shrugging precariously, he leaned back in the hard plastic chair. "Life is life. I'm ready to leave this place though."
As I went to say something further, Liam slid into the chair beside Lou's. "Hey mate, when'd you get here?"
Rolling my eyes, I no longer found myself at the table. Instead I was venturing back into their house and toward the family room.
Taking a place at one of the couches, I pulled out my phone and decided to call my best friend. He always knew how to cheer me up.
