《Midnight Birdsong [Dreamnotfound AU]》Chapter 8: What?

Clay stared in shock at the scene before him.
Vincent was lying motionless on the floor with his cat covering his face and meowing pitifully, but Ian could barely be heard over Skeppy and Bad.
Skeppy was on top of Bad and their faces were right next to each other.
It went very quiet for a second.
Even Ian stopped meowing.
...Um
"Hi Clay!" Bad said, his head upside-down. "Thanks for bringing more food!"
Skeppy quickly backed off Bad, blushing furiously.
"Uh, you guys want me to leave you alone?" Clay asked. He was trying really hard not to laugh at their faces.
"Please don't," came a6d's muffled voice from the floor.
"WHAT NO-" Skeppy tried to explain. "WE- I-"
Bad sat up and criss-crossed his legs. "Skeppy was arguing with me about this guy who was better than him but he kept saying that his controller was messing up and when he showed me there wasn't anything wrong with it so I told him so but he just tackled me while yelling next to my ear." He said this very matter-of-factly like it was normal.
I guess that is normal for them. Skeppy's face was priceless though. He's still blushing.
Skeppy saw Clay looking at him and flushed a deeper shade of red.
"Yeah well it was Bad's fault in the first place." He muttered.
Bad looked indignant. "How is it MY fault?"
"IT JUST IS!"
"GEPPY THAT MAKES NO SENSE!"
Clay just shrugged and picked up the spilt snacks and
Oops. Better not open those sodas for a bit.
After depositing the pile in front of the TV, Clay crouched next to Vin and offered him the Skittles.
Vincent slowly lifted the cat off his face and accepted the candy.

Clay grabbed a bag of chips and sat next to Vincent as Skeppy attempted to casually start playing again like nothing happened.
Bad scooted next to him and joined with his controller while Clay stayed out of the game and just watched. They had the sound turned down so it didn't bother Bad's parents, ironically, but they could still hear the roars of the Fallen and Vex and the brrrrrrrr of gunfire from the futuristic space guns as Bad and Skeppy passed through the level to the boss.
Clay didn't mind the gunfire because his side was snuggled against the warm a6d. They were sitting quite close to each other on the floor. He saw out of the corner of his eye as Vincent scooped up Ian and placed him in his lap. Smiling, Clay reached over to pat him as he purred.
It was kinda boring to just watch, but Skeppy made it entertaining by constantly shouting tactical plans at Bad and Bad not really listening to him.
He was busy explaining the game more to Clay, since a6d knew already obviously.
"So these guys you try to shoot in the head but those guys you shoot at the body, because they head just falls off and they run at you AHHHH LIKe THAT- " He accidentally hit the wrong spot and the headless robot ran at him just like he said. Skeppy quickly came up and placed a shield for Bad while he beat the Vex into tiny pieces.
"Yeah thank you Skeppy,"
"Sure, Bad"
"SO like I was saying this level has a mix of enemies which makes it more difficult because different weapons are more effective for certain types and less effective for others." Clay nodded like he was absorbing the information, but he actually had no idea what Bad was talking about.

Bad continued regardless, "So that's why it's good to have a team with all three classes and different weapons. Like, you see that little arrow on the side?" He pointed. "That means there's another player on this map who's fighting the same guys as us. We'll progress through the level at the same time but the map's so big they can fight a lot of mobs without seeing us."
"So Destiny 2 is a multiplayer game but most of the time the players don't help each other when they aren't in a party. You get more stuff by just stealing all the kills you can."
Skeppy and Bad finally made it to the boss room and there was another kid already fighting the newly-spawned boss and his minions.
"Is that the guy from earlier?" Bad asked Skeppy. He was referring, Clay assumed, to the guy who unknowingly started the argument between the two over the "malfunctioning" controller.
Skep squinted at him, his fingers moving around the controller hitting buttons erratically as he danced around the enemies doing complicated moves.
"Yeah."He finally answered. He didn't sound particularly pleased.
He must be good if he's better than Skeppy.
Then again, it's not hard to make Skeppy mad when he's being competitive.
Clay leaned forward a little bit to look closer at the third character sprinting around the screen.
He was definitely a Hunter class, because those are the fastest but not as strong as the other two. The Titan is the opposite, strong and tough; they moved slowly but did lots of damage. Bad's choice, Warlock, was the balance. Warlocks jump the highest and are usually the ones to heal other players.
Clay had been playing with a hunter earlier but he could tell this guy was much better at using its strengths. He darted around the enemies so fast they didn't get a chance to shoot him. Clay couldn't even read his username.
It looked like his weapons and armor were much worse than Skeppy and Bad's, so he must have just barely had enough experience to unlock this level. He was playing like a pro though, even as all three of them began to get overwhelmed.
"AHHHHH!" Bad yelled suddenly as his character was cornered by monsters and started losing health fast. "SKEPPY HELP MEEEEE
SKEPPY SKEPPY HELP AHHHHHHHHHHH!"
"ALRIGHT IM COMING JUST WAIT!" Skeppy yelled back at Bad over his continued shrieks for help. They were shouting literally inches from each other.
But even Clay could tell that Skeppy wouldn't make it in time since the boss was between them and the monsters were closing in on Bad.
