《The Compound》Chapter 5

You were in your and Steve's bathroom, which was practically the size of any normal person's bedroom. But you and Steve were by no means normal.
You were putting on some light makeup, which you hadn't done in years. You of course, however, remembered how to do it. Just then Steve came in to check on you, "Hey doll," he lightly smiled making eye contact with you in the mirror, "Just so you know we're having a small get together tonight. Just a few very close friends who I want you to meet. Nothing big, really casually."
"Oh, alright," You said and finished applying brush, "Should I dress up or-"
"No, jeans and a t-shirt are just fine." He smiled back. "You look beautiful today, by the way."
"Thank you," You lightly blushed and smiled, he lightly chuckled at your shy reaction. "We have a few hours before, so we can have some downtime while everyone sets up the place." You nodded agreeing with him, not that you could do much else.
So the next few hours were spent with you reading some books, and Steve doing some work. Mixed in with the relaxing sensation of getting lost in a good book was the partial anxiety behind meeting some of Steve's closest friends. You weren't sure what they would think of you, or if you were a typical Omega. Most Omegas were extremely submissive, however Steve tended to treat you as an equal, which you appreciated.
After a few hours of getting lost within multiple classics in the library, Steve came to get you, "I don't want to disturb your reading," He began and smiled at you, curled up in one of the chairs, "But they'll be here any minute."
"Alright," You got up, placing your book on the coffee table and heading to the bathroom to brush your hair and lightly fix up your makeup. You walked out and into the hallway where Steve was waiting, "How do I look?" You asked and did a little twirl for him. He looked you up and down before smiling.
"Gorgeous, as always." You blushed a little before grabbing his hand to walk with him.
"You're too kind Mr. Rogers." He lightly chuckled as you two headed into the living room to wait. "Where did all of your assistants go?" You looked around to find no one in the penthouse main floor.
"They all left," He said, "Usually when I have friends over, they go. I give them the night off."
"That's nice of you," You lightly smiled.
"They deserve it." He lightly smiled back, "Sorry, if it's an inconvenience."
"No of course not," You insisted, "I actually kinda prefer it."
"You prefer it?" He asked and you nodded, "I'll see what I can do, take some of them out of here and put them in my office."
"You sure? You don't have to." You responded, feeling a little guilty.
"It's completely fine, it'll probably make this place seem more homely anyways."

"Just don't get rid of Kat, please," You said in an authoritative and he lightly chuckled.
"Noted," He smiled. Just then the door rang, and he went to get it, you by his side. Bucky, who you initially identified as a soft, but muscley looking man, came to the door with his new Omega. "Hey Buck." Steve smiled, giving his best friend a hug.
"Hey man," He hugged back before they let go, "How're you?"
"Better than ever. You?"
"Pretty good." He smiled, "This is Rachel, by the way." he motioned to his Omega, a tall brunette with gorgeous green eyes.
"Hi," She said and shook Steve's hand, "It's a pleasure."
"The pleasure's all mine." He responses politely letting them in. "This is Y/N." He introduced you to the two.
"Hello," You shook both their hands and lightly smiled, both of them smiled back.
"So you're the infamous Y/N Steve won't shut up about?" Bucky lightly joked, both of you lightly laughing.
"Hey," Steve responded, "She didn't need to know that."
"Well now I do." You smiled up at him and he rolled his eyes.
"And a defiant Omega too, I like her." He smiled at me and I smiled back.
"Sam should be here any minute now," Steve added on and Bucky rolled his eyes.
"Great." He said, obviously sarcastic.
"You guys get along just fine," Steve sighed. "Can I get either of you anything to drink?"
"Beer is fine for me," Bucky answered, "You?" He asked Rachel.
"Water is just fine." She responded. I went with Steve into the bar area, helping him grab Rachel a water, him grabbing another beer for himself and a water for me.
We arrived back out, I handed a water to Rachel as Steve gave a beer to Bucky and we put our drinks down. Then the door rang, and Steve and I went to get it.
Lo and behold stood Sam, who everyone was talking about. "What's up man?" he asked Steve as they hugged.
"Not much, what about you?"
"Living in paradise, as always." He smiled and looked at you, still holding a smile.
"This is Y/N." Steve introduced you two and you shook hands.
"This is Lyla." He said and introduced his Omega, who was an average height for a woman, and beautiful shining skin. She shook Steve's hand as he gave her a nice smile. He invited them in before all of you headed to the living room to begin talking.
After a few hours of talking and learning more about Rachel, who was from Maine and whose family was a group of attorneys, and Lyla, who was from California and her father was a realtor, Bucky finally asked about you.
"I'm from a small town in Indiana," You spoke up, "My family owns a farm there and that was what we made money off of. It was basically a lifestyle." They all nodded.

"What type of farm?" Bucky asked.
"We did basically everything," You continued, "We're big in Indiana for our milk, but we kinda did everything."
"Speaking of," Steve slightly whispered into your ear, "We still need to book that trip." He knew that would light you up, which it did.
Soon enough after a lot of conversation, and too much beer (which everyone resorted to after a while) you found yourself comfortably tucked under Steve's arm, snuggling into him, and way too much laughter for any sober person. "Steve's been obsessed about you," Sam told you as Steve turned bright red, "Won't stop talking."
"Bucky told me earlier," You said and looked at Steve, "But now I have two witnesses."
"For the amount of money he spent, I'm not surprised he has been," Bucky added on. You looked at Steve with a questioning look, quite confused on how much he actually spent. You didn't think much of it of course, but you knew it couldn't have been much. You were just little old you.
"I wasn't just gonna let her go," Steve defended himself.
"Because you fell madly in love with her, love at first smell?"
"Shut it Wilson," Steve warned. "It was also because the last person I would've wanted her to be owned by was Rumlow."
"Rumlow?" You questioned.
"That biggest bastard in this world," Bucky said and took another swig of beer. "Buys another Omega every three to four months, then they go missing."
"And since he owns them, there haven't been investigations done," Sam added on.
"Does anyone have an idea where they go?" Rachel asked, looking as concerned as you and Lyla did. Of course you would, you were the Omegas.
"Nope," Bucky said and sighed, "I'm sure he hides them in his basement though, chained up." You shivered at the possible thought, wanting to throw up. Steve felt it and wrapped his arm significantly tighter around you.
"But don't worry," Steve said to the three of you, "None of you will ever be in that situation."
"You better not being lying Rogers." You spoke up, really hoping he was telling the truth.
"I wouldn't worry with Steve," Sam added on pointing at him, "You're a big softy and we all know it. Especially for Miss Y/N over here." He looked down and lightly smiled, you could obviously see, making you smile as well.
Soon, you all called it a night. Bucky and Sam left with Rachel and Lyla, leaving you and Steve. "Bucky and Sam were really nice." You said and lightly smiled, leaning against the kitchen counter as Steve grabbed himself a water. He nodded and smiled.
"I'm glad you like them," He took a sip, "They liked you too, a lot." You nodded.
"I'm gonna take a shower," You said and headed into your bathroom. You removed all of your clothes, putting them into a pile in the corner. Turning the huge glass shower that could easily fit eight people in it on hot, a wave of nausea washed over you.
You knew it was most likely due to the amount of alcohol you had drank. Three drinks were enough to make the average person tipsy, but someone who hadn't drank much if anything got the negative impact of the action.
You slowly washed yourself, letting each droplet of hot water relax your muscles. You couldn't stop thinking about the mysteries behind Steve. While you weren't necessarily suspicious of him, he was no open book.
He was extremely kind, of course, and you were growing much more comfortable with him. His cute nicknames for you helped you settle in as well, they always made butterflies erupt in your stomach.
After a while you got out and changed into sweatpants and a t-shirt you bought while out with Kat, for the sake of staying at home and pajamas of course. You hoped Steve wouldn't mind the minimal and lazy attire.
You walked back out into your now shared room with Steve. You climbed into your side of the bed and grabbed a book to try and relax, even through your new and growing pounding headache. You wanted to be awake when he came in, out of courtesy.
"Hey doll," He made his way in, walking towards his closet.
"Hey," You responded, placing your book down and leaning back a bit to ease some of the pain in your head.
"You feeling alright?" He asked, it was like he knew exactly what was wrong.
"Yeah, just nauseous."
"Too much to drink?" He asked and you nodded. "I'll grab you some pain killers and water." He ran off into your bathroom where he arrived a few moments later, with the promised glass of water and small pills. You immediately took them, swallowing quickly and hoping the pain would subside.
"Thanks," You sighed and leaned back a bit again.
"Of course princess," he smiled, the new nickname causing the eruption of butterflies to again hit you. "I'm going to shower, don't hesitate to call if you need anything." He said and went off, grabbing some clothes from his closet and walking into the bathroom, closing the door behind him.
So you laid there for a few moments, trying to find a comfortable position, which even in this extremely comfortable bed was difficult. Steve came out after only 15 minutes and climbed into bed next to you. "You feeling any better?" He asked and began twirling your hair in his fingers, trying to relax you. You shook your head, being honest. He sighed. "C'mere." He pulled you into him, letting your head rest on his chest. "Are you fine with this?"
"Yeah, it feels nice." You lightly smiled. He smiled as well. His scent filled your nose with ease, and you immediately melted into his touch.
"Good," you snuggled a little more into him, "Just relax sweetheart, try and get some sleep." You nodded as he turned off the lights using the remote in his room, your eyes slowly fluttering to sleep.
