《Field Trip to the Avenger's Compound》Research and Development Lab

We waited on the elevator and we finally got to the R&D lab. (Y/n) and I spend time a little time here, but we mainly stay in our shared lab. But we come to this lab enough that all the interns know our names, and some are even sworn to secrecy about our identities. The elevator opened and our class filed out. Flash made sure to give (Y/n) and me a nice shove when we walked out. He smirked at us forgetting that we both have weapons on us.
"Okay students! You are free to walk around, but please ask one of the interns or scientists if you want to touch something. We will group back together in 10 minutes to do a special challenge!" Katherine exclaimed.
(Y/n) and I walked over to our buddy, Tyler, and started talking to him. He knows both of our secrets and has even helped us with some weapon designs for our suits.
"Hey Ty!" (Y/n) greeted. Tyler looked at us in confusion and said, "What are you doing here? You better not be skipping school!"
"We're here on a field trip," I explained.
He busted out laughing, "Must be fun taking a tour of your home."
I rolled my eyes and chuckled. We started helping him with the formula he was making for whatever project he was doing when Katherine called us back over.
"Alright, everyone. We will be meeting Dr. Banner in his lab to do our activity," she happily stated.
The room erupted into chatter about meeting the prestigious Bruce Banner. (Y/n) and I looked at each other and chuckled at how excited everyone was.
"Ned. You've met him before," (Y/n) pointed out.
"I've never been to his lab! When will I get to go to your lab?" Ned asked us.

"The next time you come over you can come," (Y/n) assured him. His eyes lit up and he was overjoyed.
You all got back into the elevator and headed to Bruce's lab. Peter and yourself had been in his lab numerous times, but it would be nice to visit again. You haven't been down there in around a week, so you were happy. Peter, however, was a little nervous because he didn't want Bruce to embarrass him. Bruce was one of the most common-sensed Avengers, so you both were most likely safe from embarrassment.
The elevator stopped at Bruce's lab and the class got out. Bruce was waiting for them in his lab but still got a little scared when the elevator door popped open.
"Hello, Dr. Banner! This is our tour group from Midtown High," Katherine announced.
"Thank you, Katherine. Hello students. I hope you have been enjoying your tour so far. I bet you're wondering what you're doing down here in my lab. Well, we are allowing you to try the test we give to interns who made it past the applying stage. You will be building and coding a robot to do a simple task or movement," he said.
The class was elated and started chatting quietly. (Y/n) and Peter looked at each other because they knew they never actually did the test, but it would be almost too easy for them. They make weapons for the Avengers and help build AI systems. This would be a piece of cake.
"You will choose a partner for this task, so go ahead and partner up," Bruce stated. Ned and MJ already paired up, so Peter and (Y/n) got together for the task. Bruce scanned the room and saw the two. He walked over and started talking to them.

"You realize you don't have to do this right. This is way too easy for you guys," Bruce reassured. The two said they would do it, but Bruce insisted that they go work on something else. They eventually gave in and started working on a new web-shooter design for Peter's suit.
"Why don't Parker and Rogers have to do this? Are they too dumb for it?" Flash sneered.
"Well, it's quite actually the opposite. They are too smart for this assignment because they already did this when they became interns," Bruce responded to Flash's attempted insult.
"How can they be too smart for this?" Flash baffled.
"Because I just said they are. They both have IQs that are over 190," Bruce snapped. Flash shut up real quick after that. Peter and (Y/n) looked at each other in embarrassment and went back to working on the web-shooters.
"Alright, everyone. It's time for everyone to present their robots," Bruce said gaining the attention of the class.
Everyone displayed their bots as Peter and (Y/n) watched. Bruce told the teens exactly how their bots were. No beating around the bush. He told them if they were good, bad, great, or if there was something they could do to make it better. Flash's robot was up next and the bot moved its arm. The poor bot's arm barely moved then fell off. Bruce just sighed and told Flash what he did wrong. Flash's face was beet red and he was furious.
"Alright, everyone! We will be moving on to lunch. Let's say goodbye to Dr. Banner and we'll be on our way," Katherine said breaking some tension. Everyone said thank you and goodbye to Bruce and head down to the cafeteria.

Blue Hills
Nothing had ever felt quite right for Alexander Adamson. He'd worked his way up to a job he could tolerate, a few casual friends, and even a nice little apartment that he could call his own, though it really wasn't. The problem was that none of it was satisfying. It was as though he were going through the motions of a life, rather than having one of his own. Of course, it didn't exactly feel right when he woke up in a strange bed in the middle of nowhere. Nor when he was told that he was now the proud owner and operator of a local farm. A farm that had belonged to a late uncle he'd never known. But with the first train out of town a full 'season' away, he had plenty of time to get used to the idea. Plenty of time, perhaps, to even get to like the strange little town of Blue Hills. I have a discord now. Marvel at my ability to somehow still be antisocial on the other side of a screen! Back from hiatus along with my other fiction. Chapters are on a Thurs/Sun schedule until book 3 of that fiction is completed, at which point I'll be updating this daily. At which point uh.... I dunno what I'm going to do.

Tower of Babel: Speedrunner
Launch day. That was what they called it. The day when over four million people vanished in an instant from the island of Manhattan. The day earthquakes ravaged the east coast. The day a one hundred and one kilometer tall tower rose from the wreckage of the now empty city. The day every screen, newspaper, and smart phone displayed a single message from an unknown source: The Great Emperor has issued his challenge. From the ruins of the Old World rise the Tower. Its doors will soon open, and the great game will begin. A hundred floors and a hundred challenges await the worthy. And to the victor? A Wish of Unlimited Power. Cayden Caros yearned to play that game. His only problem? The Terms and Conditions. A strict set of rules that, among other things, prevented anyone under the age of sixteen from entering the tower. Forced to wait for over two years, Cayden did the only thing he could do to pass the time. He researched, he practiced and he prepared. It would take a lot to catch up to players with such an enormous head start. Lucky for him, he was a special type of gamer. A SpeedRunner So.... It has been a hot minute. I don't like talking about my personal life, but suffice to say I had some fairly bad times for the last couple of years and have only just recently pulled myself back to good health, physically and mentally. I have a very supportive partner, and am put together enough that I want to get back to doing what I love. Writing nerd fiction that I am too embarassed to try to explain when people inevitably ask what my books are about. Still beats when I used to write erotica. Story updates for book 3 should be on a daily schedule, baring unforseen circumstances. The majority of chapters from books one and two have been pulled down to keep with amazon's KU rules. Book one is found here. Book two is found here. If you like the story, please comment or favorite. Each comment goes a long way towards pushing visibility for the story, which means more people get to see it and I feel slightly more validated as a writer. I have a discord now where you can ask me things and I can be like 'no. no. I'm not answering that. no."

The Beta Test
Our nameless narrator participates in a beta test for an early VRMMO game Meridian 60. That's not the real name but it captures the spirit of the adventure given the chronological and contextual era of the game. His character is unique and special but purely for mundane reasons and not because of any inherent or social significance. The first chapter which is mandatory to submit a story on RR serves as a bit of a prologue with some exposition, although I limited that to a reasonble level. I plan to begin releasing additional chapters starting Thursday, to align with the 48 hour submission approval process and also because I have something to do Wednesday. I haven't written anything but the summary and first chapter, nor have I plotted anything out. This is because my plan is to release roughly 34000 words a day, 10 chapters of ~12.5 pages each, for 3 days at which point the story will be complete. I'd have liked to plan for more but handling the interface tables and so forth needed for a data heavy litrpg slows down the writing process. 100k words is a bit short, a standard pre epic fantasy 300 page spec fic novel, but this is mostly a writing exercise and I am considering a longer project if I can maintain the pace. Probably do a different concept, maybe a dungeon core, over 5 days, since a 500 page novel is more common these days. Slight subversion of VRMMO stories Stat heavy/crunchy No paying your bills by gaming No out of game conspiracies No angst, interpersonal drama, or damsels/dudes in distress Schedule is 30000 words a day excepting the first chapter, a limitation of RRs fiction submission system Fantasy, high magic, male lead, no party, guild, or harem No gore, some profanity, no sexual content, and no current plans for anything traumatic
