《Hamilton One Shots》Hamilton x Reader- The Escape (Pt. 2)

(Y/N) blinked her eyes open to see nurses running around. She adjusted to the light and could finally see that she was in a tent. She was in a medical tent. Cots lined the flaps and held men moaning in pain. She shivered at the sight and felt pity, but then let out a sigh of enjoyment, for she knew now that she was safe. She was laying in a cot that reeked of blood, but nevertheless, she lied back down into the covers to think of her new freedom.
She would most likely become a nurse, which didn't bother her too much, but she would rather fight instead. Just as (Y/N) was about to close her eyes, a young nurse approached her. She was not conspicuously tall, her features were striking but not conspicuously beautiful. Her hair was wiry and gingerish and brushed backward from the temples. Her skin seemed to be pulled backward from the nose.
"Hello miss, my name is Angeline." She said with a soft voice that sent chills down (Y/N)'s spine. "Um, hello." She squeaked out, her voice sounding more hoarse than expected. "I must get the General. He gave me the task to get him when you woke up." Angeline said with a smile as she turned on her heel and walked out of the tent.
As (Y/N) waited, nurses kept on looking at her in a peculiar way. It was if she was a laughing stock of the medical tent. The women who walked by her cot slowed down to stare at her, but continued to move fast after they passed.
Angeline came in the tent with a tall, man by her side. He walked towards her, leaving Angeline to scatter back into the crowd of nurses. The man seemed old by the way his stance was; slouched. But up close he looked younger. He had bright, dark eyes and satiny brown skin and stood hunched over with arms slightly extended to his sides, as if ready to take wing at the slightest sound. It's impossible not to think of a bird. "Hello." He paused to flash a cheeky grin at the young woman. "My name is Gorge Washington. You might know me as General Washington. I already know your name is (Y/N)." She jerked a little to hear a tough man speak with such a kind and gentle voice. "I heard of your accomplishments in the camp in Maryland."
Bloody hell. She thought as she straightened her stance on the bed. "I-I'm so-" "Don't bother." He interrupted, waving his hand in the air to silence her. "I think that was very brave of you. But, with a heavy heart, I will not be allowed to accept you into the army. You must work as a nurse."
(Y/N)'s heart dropped at the sound of her not being able to join the army. Of corse, she expected to become a nurse, but that was because she didn't want anyone to know her secret. Now everyone knows, and she wasn't allowed in the army. She clenched her fists in anger. "Why?" She asked George, trying not to appear as if she wanted to rip someone into pieces. He let out a sigh before answering. "I really thought it would be an experience to get a woman in the army. But my right-hand man, you might know him as Alex," Anger was boiling in (Y/N)'s veins. It was the knight in shining armor who saved her, but now he was becoming less of a hero.

"Said that it would be safer for a woman to stay in the camp. I agreed with him because I don't want you getting hurt." George said sympathetically as Angeline came up behind him with clothes in her hands. "Miss (Y/N), I have gotten you some clothes to change into. Do it quickly because we need your help." Angeline said while George smiled and walked out of the tent. (Y/N) let out a sigh and slipped the rags over her nightgown.
"Ok, I'm ready."

"(Y/N), we have another soldier that just came in with a cut on his knee." Angeline said as she grabbed the young woman's arm.
(Y/N) was taught the ins and outs of nursing for the past few day from Angeline, and she started to enjoy it. "I heard that he got into a fight with Charles Lee." Angeline added on as she pointed to a man sitting on a cot facing the opposite direction, so all (Y/N) saw was his back. She rolled her eyes and gave a sigh. "Yah, I'll fix him up. I'm not surprised to find another soldier that got into a fight with Charles." She answered as she made her way over to him.
"Hi, my name is (Y/N). I will be helping you out with that leg." She said with a smile as she walked up behind the man. He turned around to face her and his mouth gaped open in surprise. "(Y/N)?" The man mumbled, as
(Y/N) stepped back. It felt as if she heard that voice somewhere. It took her a second to realize it, but when she did, she furrowed her brows in disgust. She did not see him as the beautiful man that others saw, with dark, tousled hair tied into a ponytail and a face that could have belonged to a king. She looked at Alex only to detect pity or sorrow, the dangerous moods that almost always led to anger.
"Alex." (Y/N) said with a face bare of emotion. "I better find someone else to take care of you." She started to walk away until a warm hand grabbed hers. "Wait, please." Alex begged as he started to pull (Y/N) towards him. She quickly yanked her hand out of his. Alex's face dropped when he realized how much she disliked him.
"Look, I'm sorry for telling the General that you shouldn't fight in the war, but it's true. You could get hurt." Alex looked up to (Y/N) to see if she would notice how much he cared for her, but instead, that face free of emotion was still present. "I think we got off on the wrong start." He said with a smile as he held out a hand for her to shake. "My name is Alexander Hamilton. Nice to meet you."
(Y/N)'s body quivered at how beautiful that name sounded as it rolled of his tongue. She rolled her eyes to the floor, trying not to look desperate, and shook his hand. "My name is (Y/N) (L/N)." She said blandly, as she tried to push the funny feeling in her stomach down. She knew it was butterflies, but she didn't want to admit it.

She knew she liked him.

The next few months flew by. (Y/N) started to get a hang of being a nurse and started to move up on the position status. She became one of the head nurses, and she enjoyed her time helping out wounded soldiers. She became close with Alex after she forgave him, even became best friends with him. But still, a thought was always breathing down the back of her neck. It got bigger and bigger each time she seemed to mention it in her mind. The thought sometimes got so big, she thought it would consume her.
It was Alex.
Alex seemed to come into the medical tent more often. Mostly with bruises from fighting. When ever he came in, he asked for (Y/N) to take care of him, for she was the best nurse after all. But a thought was breathing down his neck as well. Something that could not be pushed away so easily. The thought sometimes got so big, that he thought it might consume him.
It was (Y/N).
One day, the medical tent was empty. All the soldiers were at the northern part of the camp, training. And all the nurses were there to help if any one of them got hurt. Except one nurse stayed behind, just to make sure everything was in order.
(Y/N) sighed as she fixed the thin covers on one of the cots. She decided to stay back for no particular reason, only to make sure everything stayed in order. The whole southern side of the camp was quiet, except for the occasional gun shots heard. "(Y/N)?" A voice said, as (Y/N) gave out a shriek of fear.
She turned around towards the entrance of the tent and saw Alex standing there with a smile. "Alex? What are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be training?" (Y/N) asked as she relaxed herself from the sudden jolt of energy she just induced.
"Yah..... John and I might have gotten into a fight with Charles again. Washington wasn't happy...... he kinda sent me back." Alex said as his cheeks turned into a dark crimson color. He rubbed the back of his neck embarrassingly as he steeped into the tent to avoid the hot summer breeze.
(Y/N) chuckled. She remembered the man that had unreasonably pretty tawny eyes, mahogany-colored hair, and a particularly nice nose. Oh, John was definitely a heart stealer, but not her type. She was introduced to him a little while ago when Alex dragged her into a bar.
"I got a cut on my arm. Do you mind stitching it up?" Alex asked as he sat down on a small cot. (Y/N) pulled out the stitches in her dress pocket and started to fiddle with them in her hands. She walked over to Alex and grabbed his arm that he was holding up. She pulled back his sleeve and was shocked to see a small cut. "This is what you want me to stitch up? It's barely letting out any blood." She remarked while Alex let out a chuckle, as if this was his plan all along.
"But it hurts, can you please at least add a few stitches." Alex pleaded as (Y/N) sat next to him on the cot. "Fine." She said with an exaggerated sigh. She moved up closer to Alex so it would be easier to view what she was doing. She started to sew his small cut with simple strokes.
Little did she know that Alex was admiring her; how she worked and moved with such ease made him swoon. "Almost done."
(Y/N) whispered as she implemented the last few stitches on his arm.
Alex was feeling a surge of courage at the moment, so he did the first thing that came to mind. He gently lifted (Y/N)'s chin, which made her look away from her work in to Alex's big eyes that held desire.
There was no pause as Alex slowly moved his head closer towards (Y/N). She exhaled shakily as he leaned down and kissed her on the cheek, brushing it lightly with his lips-and still that light touch sent shivers through her nerves, shivers that made her whole body tremble. Alex traveled his lips down her jawline, just to toy with her. When he finally kissed her mouth, everything goes oddly quiet, like the moment of silence between lightning and thunder.
Alex paused, and let his lips slip away from hers. Guilt settles into his eyes. This was his best friend, he shouldn't ruin this friendship for his own jealous reasons. "I-I'm sor-"
(Y/N) interrupts him by pulling him back down on her. They kiss again. The next kiss is the kind that breaks open the sky. It steals both of there breaths and gives them back slowly. This time, she wasn't letting him go that easily, so she wrapped her arms around his neck. Alex chuckles, not fighting it, and kisses her deeper.
They start to kiss like crazy. Like there lives depend on it. Alex's tongue slips inside
(Y/N)'s mouth, gentle but demanding, and it's nothing like she's ever experienced. Every square inch of her body dissolves into his as her fingers gripped his hair, pulling him closer. Her veins throb and her heart explodes. Alex lightly pushes her backwards and they are both lying down on the small cot that smelt of cotton and blood. The weight of his body on top of her's is extraordinary.
(Y/N) inhales his sent of sweat and alcohol. But there is that extra scent that's just ... him. His lips taste like honey. His face has the slightest bit of stubble and it rubs her skin but she doesn't care, she didn't give a damn. He feels wonderful.
Alex finally pulls away, leaving both of them panting, trying to catch their breath. Silence surrounded the two as they both stared into each others eyes, but then (Y/N) starts to giggle. It lifted the pressure off of both of them as Alex started to chuckle too. She could only slip out one sentence before she started to have laughing fits.
"How'd I get myself into this mess with you?"
