"Holy shit!" I shouted suddenly. Sally Face and I were hanging out with Larry in the stoner's bedroom.
"What, are you okay?" Sally Face asked with genuine concern from his spot next to me on the floor. The three of us were drawing, and there's not enough room for everyone to have a seat, so Sal offered to join me on the floor.
"I should be asking you! You went a whole day without picking me up! Not even once!" I cried, dramatically feigning an overwhelming wave of worry.
"Aww, look at you two lovebirds," Larry sang, swinging his legs and laying on his stomach from his bed.
"You're just jealous you can't find someone because you give off trash panda vibes," I shot back in the same mocking tone.
"Oh, yeah? Well you- At... At least I have a nice personality!"
"Yeah, a nice personality that gives off trash panda vibes," I gave him a smug look.
"Shut up, man," he grinned and shook his head. We all knew come-backs aren't really his forte.
"Haha! Never!"
"THEN I WILL TICKLE YOU TO DEATH!" he hollered and lunged at me.
"NO, STOP! HAHAHA- I SAID STOP!!" I manage to choke out through bursts of laughter and curled up in a ball in an attempt to avoid the gesture.
"Okay, I'm done," Larry sighed and fell back after what felt like eons, exhausted.
"Ha... Finally..." I sighed and wiped the tears from my eyes. Sal had been watching Larry and me the whole time (mainly Larry), but I pretended not to notice.
I laid there with a hand over my heart as I regained my breath before sitting up and leaning on Sal's shoulder. I closed my eyes drew shapes on his knee with my index finger, although I could feel him watching me from the corner of his eye.
"Whatcha thinkin' bout Sally Face?" I asked after a while.
"Nothing," he muttered. Did I make him angry?
"Oh. You okay?" I finally opened my eyes to see him glaring down at his paper.
"Yeah," he answered and crumpled his drawing into a ball.
"Are you suuuuure Sally Face?" I asked, laying my head on his lap and raising my eyebrows at him.
"Yes, I'm sure," he finally caved and chuckled.
"Good."
He booped my nose in response, to which I said wasn't fair because I can't boop his back since there's plastic in the way.
"Sounds like a you problem," he teased.
"Sally Face one, Y/n zero," Larry said, once again focused on his artwork.
"This doesn't involve you, Keith Jackson."
"You sound like my dad," Sal booped my nose again and I knew he was smirking under that mask.
"I AM your dad," I declared. "That's a great song, by the way. You would love it, Larry."
"A song called- nevermind. My mom's calling, gimme a second," he quickly left the room and closed the door on his way out.
I said nothing for a moment until I whispered to Sal to let him know it had been longer than a second and that I was keeping track. He tried to muffle a laugh and lifted his prosthetic to lean down and kiss me. I placed a hand on his neck but we both quickly pulled apart when the door handle clicked.
"...What was that?" I asked.
"Dunno."
We got up and I tried to open the door... Only to find it was locked. That can't be right, it's probably just jammed. I tried again, this time with more force.

...
It's official, I'm locked in somebody's basement. Absolutely fan-fucking-tastic.
"Larry! Open the door!" I shouted and pounded my fist on the cool surface. It was probably just done by habit.
"Hold on, I'm busy!" he called back.
"Great," Sal sighed.
"Uh, Sally Face?"
"Hm?"
"Why is Todd blowing up my phone and telling me to come over because it's an emergency? Is this some kid of sick joke you guys planned?"
"What?"
"Look," I handed him my phone and fiddled with the drawstrings of his hoodie.
"I'm gonna call him," the blue-haired boy said finally and gave me my phone back.
"Alright."
He pulled out his own device from his pocket and dialed Todd's number. The phone rang one. Twice. Thri-
"Hello, Sal," Todd chuckled nervously.
"Hey dude," Sal pressed the speaker button and signaled me to stay quiet with a finger to his lips. "What's up?"
"Oh, just doing homework. Y'know, the usual."
"You did that yesterday."
"I-I meant studying, of course!"
"Studying doesn't sound like an emergency to me."
"W-what are you talking about?"
"You know exactly what I'm talking about. Not cool, dude."
I could hear some shuffling around and someone muttering a string of curses under their breath. They sounded weirdly like... Larry. Then there was shouting. I heard a feminine voice join in and Todd hung up. I had no idea what they were yelling about, but Sal and I knew damn well who it was.
"What now?" I sighed.
Sal patted the floor in front of him. I moved over and he put his legs on either side of me and hugged me. I looped my arms around his neck and buried my face in the fabric of his shirt.
"Are you okay, angel?"
I groaned in response. I don't know how he's so... unbothered. Like, he isn't even fazed by the situation! His feelings aren't my business, though, and neither is his way of processing things. I moved a bit closer to wrap my legs around him and he rested his chin on my head. I took in his scent as he held me impossibly closer. I just need a nap...
.
.
.
"Hey, sweetheart. I need you to wake up for me, please."
"Hmm?" I opened my eyes to see see Sal, but he was asleep, and he doesn't sound like that. I yawned and rubbed the sleep from my eyelids to see Lisa kneeling beside me.
"Are you okay?" she asked softly. Oh right...
"Yeah... Where's Larry? I need to talk to him, it's kind of important," I prayed she wouldn't question what was happening.
"I think he's with Todd right now, hun. But why were you locked in here with Sal?" worry was laced in her voice, and I really wished I knew the answer.
"I don't know, honestly. The three of us were just hanging out and then Larry left, 'cause he said you were calling him, but he locked the door behind him and Todd started blowing up my phone," I replied softly.
"Oh sweetie-"
"Who are you talking to, angel?" Sal groaned and slowly opened his eyes.
"Uh, Lisa came to the rescue," I told him, trying to ignore the heat rising to my cheeks.
"Oh. Hi, Lisa."
"Hello, Sal," she smiled graciously.
"Y/n told me what happened, or what they know of, at least. Are you alright, Sal sweetie?"
"Yeah, thank you. What time is it?" my boyfriend sighed.

"It's 11 at night," Lisa replied, checking her watch.
"Thanks."
"Of course. You two can stay as long as you need, help yourself to anything in the fridge, alright?"
"Yeah, thank you so much," I gave her the best smile I could muster. She smiled down at me sadly and left the room, leaving the door slightly cracked open.
I didn't want to get up, my thoughts still felt fuzzy, so I decided not to move and fall back asleep instead. I relaxed back into Sal and listened to his heart beat and just as I was about to drift off once more, Sal gripped my thighs and carried me somewhere. Too tired to care...
-Time-skip to the next day-
"Huh..." Sal woke me up by showering me in kisses (he's too cute for his own good), which was quite possibly the best feeling in the world once I processed what was happening.
"Good morning, sleepyhead," my eyes fluttered open to see the boy crouching down in front of me with a smile. He held my face with one hand and supported his weight with the other.
"..."
I turned on my other side and closed my eyes once again, pulling the blankets over myself.
"Come on, love. I know you're tired, but you have to get up," Sal said patiently. I felt his weight on the mattress and he pecked the tips of my ear. I covered my ear in response. I heard him sigh and leave. Sally Face one, Y/n one... When I was sure he had left, I pulled the covers below my shoulders.
"Ow!" I yelped in surprise and pain, not even a minute later. "What was that?!"
"I told you to get up patiently, and you didn't," my boyfriend said smugly.
"That hurt!"
"I know. I bit you."
"You... You bit me?" I turned to face the boy and lightly touched my neck to feel a small amount of blood pooling beneath my fingertips.
"Yep. You gotta get up when I say get up. You slept for twelve hours, my love."
"Ughhhh..."
"Everything but your skirt, socks, and my hoodie is on that chair. I figured it'd be pretty uncomfortable to sleep in, heh."
"You didn't-"
"I didn't do anything weird, I swear on my life," Sal reassured me. "I'm gonna do some homework in the living room. Don't fall back asleep."
"Fine," I yawned. Wait... I'm in his bed... I remember him carrying me now, although the memory is cloudy.
I got up and grabbed my stuff, which I put in the backpack and left his room... Only to realize I didn't have my key. Awesome.
"Uhh Sal, would my house key happen to be with you by any chance?" I called, anxiety rising to the surface of my skin.
"No, I don't think so. I didn't look through anything," he called back.
"Okay... Do you mind if I shower and steal some clothes? I'll probably give them back."
"Go ahead, everything you need is already in there, angel."
I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding and showered as quickly as possible, putting a blue bandaid on my neck before leaving, since Sal left a box out on the counter. When I got out, I went straight to Sally Face's room and grabbed a random pair of fuzzy socks and a black tank top, which I pulled a pair of his sweatpants over. I towel-dried my hair and finished up.
As soon as I did so, I went to the living room and moved Sal's notebook to the kitchen counter, earning a confused look. I climbed on his lap for cuddles and hugged him.
"You're so cuddly when you're tired," his his chest buzzed against my ear as he laughed.
"And you're like a giant teddy bear that hugs back."
"I'll take that as a compliment."
"..."
"..."
"You know something about what happened last night, don't you?" I asked suddenly.
"Yes, actually. Larry told me that Todd called to ask him to keep me distracted and to tell you to check your phone without being too obvious," he sighed. "I still don't know what happened, but I think Ash went to Todd's place to talk to him and do God knows what to you. I'm hoping Larry was just smarter than that, though."
"When did you find out?" I lifted my head and looked anywhere but his face while trying not to have a hurt expression.
"This morning when Larry came over."
"Oh. Wait, he came over and you didn't tell me?"
"You looked dead inside, so I didn't wanna wake you up. He only went in my room once, though, just 'cause he didn't believe I had you in... nevermind. He almost woke you up, though, heh."
I laughed and looped my arms around his neck to kiss him. We stayed like that for a while, his hands resting gingerly on my waist as I ran my fingers through his blue locks. After a while he asked how my side and neck were.
"I'm okay, just don't bite so hard next time," I assured him.
"Next time?" He raised a brow.
"Speaking of time, what time is it?" I changed the subject and averted my gaze. Heat rose to my cheeks.
"Uhh... Three sixt- hey! Don't change the subject! When is next time?" Sal questioned eagerly.
"Why are you so curious?" I grinned up at him.
"Why wouldn't I be?" He winked.
"Sal... That's kinda... Gay."
"Just like you."
"I know, it's finally rubbing off on you."
Our conversation was interrupted by a knock on the door.
I moved off of him to greet whoever it was, but he told me he'd get it, so I sat back down on the couch.
"Hello-"
"No."
The door was slammed shut. I'm 99.999% sure that was Todd. To be fair, I'm still a bit upset with him, so if my dear Sally Face wants to slam the door, that's fine with me. Back to the blue haired boy, he was currently walking towards me with furrowed brows and moving onto my lap for cuddles.
"Aww, you're so cuddly when you're mad," I teased.
He let out a pitiful sound somewhere between a groan and a whine. I laughed and covered his beautiful face in kisses. The knocking on the door began again a few minutes later, this time followed by a click.
"Wha-"
"OH MY GOD! HE IS A BOTTOM! HOW DARE YOU NOT TELL ME, Y/N!!" Larry screeched from the doorway.
"What? No!" I yelled.
"Not cool, man. We both know I could take you in a fight," Sal warned the taller boy.
"Pshh as if!"
"Alright, that's enough," I interjected.
"See?! You even listen to their every command!"
"That's not true, he's just respectful... For the most part."
"Is that why you have blood on your neck?" Larry smirked.
"Yes, actually," Sal spoke.
"OKAY, are we done yet?" I laughed nervously when I realized there actually was blood beginning to drip down my neck.
"Yeah, stay there, angel," Sal said and got up, patting my head before he headed into the bathroom.
"Sooo... Was it knife-play?" Larry's smirk widened.
"No!" I seethed.
He cackled and leaned a hand on the wall to regain his composure. I sighed and covered my face with my hands. I then heard Sal re-enter the room and felt the cushion sink as he sat down next to me on the couch. He slowly peeled off the bandaid, then wiped up the blood from my skin with a wet paper towel.
"Damn, that's cold."
"Sorry. This might hurt a bit," he said. I uncovered my face to see my boyfriend leaning over to grab a cotton ball and a container labeled "hydrogen peroxide."
"Oh my god- those are bite marks!" Larry squealed like an excited toddler.
"LARRY!" Sal and I shouted in unison, which only made him squeal louder.
"I think my eardrums need bandaids," I groaned.
"Same," the shorter boy laughed.
"You're welcome."
I took in a sharp breath as the hydrogen peroxide came in contact with my skin. "Sorry, but it's gonna get infected if I don't," Sal frowned.
He didn't look very pleased to see how deep he had broken my skin, or me in pain, even if it was mild. Thankfully, it was over in an instant, and he was gently pressing a clean bandage on my neck a moment later.

Void Breaker
Note: Sadly, this story is currently on hiatus :( Elizabeth Sayler had lost everything in the bombing of Reaver Stadium. Her career, her fame, her power — all of it vanished the moment she lost use of her legs. Now, she's beginning to lose hope of ever healing herself… until her world integrates into the Void. When the apocalypse comes in a flurry of System messages, everyone on earth is given a choice: give up what they value most in themselves, and acquire a path to their heart’s greatest desire. Most would hesitate, but for Liz? She has nothing to lose, and absolutely everything to gain. Armed with newfound powers in a world teeming with monsters, she’s determined to not only survive, but to somehow break the Void’s endless assault. * * * This is a small note about the portrayal of disability in this story. As much research as I do and as many people as I ask, I will in the end only be able to understand a small portion of paraplegia and similar disabilities. Therefore, if there is anything particularly disrespectful, please do not hesitate to contact me. I always intended to portray disability in a respectful way in this story, but please know that Liz as a character does not start out with a healthy view of disability. This is intentional, and a large part of her character development comes from this view changing as she learns. Disability is not something she simply "discards" at the beginning of the story, but an ongoing theme and a part of her journey.
