"You're awfully quiet today. More than usual," you said, while leaning your head backwards on the sofa.
You had visited Xiao's home, as you'd often do after school. But his sudden quietness caused you to be wary.
Xiao closed his eyes as he crisscrossed his legs. "I've been thinking."
"Well, that's dangerous."
"Y/n."
"Haha, kidding. But what have you been thinking 'bout?" You shifted your gaze to the male beside you, now having your entire attention fixated on him.
He took in a deep breath before answering. "I'd like to apologize for losing that dumb challenge," he answered, lowering his tone.
You immediately shook your head. "It's not your fault at all, we're the ones who technically forced you so..."
"Mhm, but still."
You had to admit you felt bad about making him go through this. He had probably been blaming himself for the way Zixin was treating you.
You sighed while wrapping your arms around his waist. "What are you doing?" Xiao looked at you with a stunned face.
"Hugging you?? Can you really not tell..."
"Oh shut up," he rolled his eyes as he wrapped his arms around you as well, tightening the hug.
"You worry too much, Xiao. Forget about the challenge, it's over now anyway."
You felt Xiao hum in response as he continued hugging you. The warmth of his embrace was comforting, and you tried enjoying it while you could. After all, it wasn't every day you received a hug from Xiao.
The atmosphere went quiet after that, while you both remained in the warm embrace. You always treasured moments like these.
"I love you," Xiao mumbled quietly.
You smiled, "I love you too."
The both of you eventually parted from the hug, you leaned your head on his shoulder as he pushed backwards on the sofa.

"Also," he cleared his throat, "were you serious when you said you wanted to be called your highness?"
You were surprised that he still remembered that detail and also somewhat embarrassed. You didn't expect him to bring it up, especially right now.
But you quickly shook it off. "Haha nope, don't worry about that."
"Alright, whatever you say."
"Actually," you placed a finger on your chin while Xiao blinked blankly. "I wouldn't mind if you called me 'y/n my love' ever so often," you said with a smug smile.
Xiao immediately tensed up, his face blooming red. He was clearly flustered, but quickly managed to pull himself together.
"As you wish, y/n my love." He replied with an unusual amount of confidence, then instantly regretted it right after. Every part of him was practically dying from the embarrassment.
"Omg you actually said it," you dramatically gasped as you covered your mouth with your hand, which was just an attempt to hide the blush that had just appeared on your face.
Right now, the both of you were extremely flustered but of course, wouldn't show it.

As the atmosphere went quiet again, you felt Xiao slowly pushing you downwards onto the sofa. Now fully facing him, you raised a brow.
"Permission to kiss you?" He asked you, his golden eyes piercing through your e/c ones. You simply nodded in response.
His hands made their way around your waist, locking you in the position he wanted. You were laying down as he was hovered over you.
He closed his eyes and leaned downwards, his lips closing in on your neck. You felt him gently sucking on your skin, going from your collarbone to your jaw.
This caught you by surprise, and Xiao instantly noticed. He looked up at you, "Is this alright?" The redness on his cheeks was clear. "Yeah, it's alright," you reassured him.

An embarrassed chuckle escaped Xiao's lips as he leaned back downwards, continuing the act.
You wrapped your arms around him, moving your head a bit backwards as he placed small kisses all around your neck. He brought his body closer to you, barely leaving any space between you both.
Currently, the two of you were incredibly flustered since this was a first for both you and Xiao. Xiao had been just as hesitant as you were, but he tried his best to remain calm.
Eventually, his mouth moved upwards. You felt his soft lips gently press against yours, as his hands left your waist to cup your cheeks.
You closed in on the kiss, while parting a few times for air.
"I love you y/n," he groaned in between the contact. "I love you so much," he repeated.
You managed to say it back when he pulled away momentarily. "Ah— I love you too."
He gave you a small smile before lowering his head, continuing to kiss you lovingly. His hands wandered around your body as the two of you were melting onto each other.
Xiao eventually pulled away again after placing one last kiss upon your lips.
He then sighed in relief as he positioned his head on your chest, before closing his eyes. "Thank you for coming into my life," he uttered quietly.
You hummed in response. "Thank you as well," you said to which Xiao lifted his head at. "I'm not done," he quickly silenced you, placing a finger over your mouth. His sharp gaze locked with your soft one.
"You've made me feel things that I could never even imagine. Good things. And I thank you for that. I could never repay you for the happiness that you've brought to me," he murmured, now feeling even more flustered by the sudden scene.
A gentle smile appeared on your face as you laughed. "Hah, you've already repaid me for that just by staying by my side," you reassured him. You began stroking his hair with your fingers while he embraced you once again.
Xiao brought his face closer to your neck and you welcomed his warmth by wrapping your arms around his waist. "Can we stay like this?" He uttered in a low tone, his warm breath caressing your neck.
You nodded, "As long as you'd like."

Letters from a Dying World
Times historic are often penned after the fact in the lifeblood of the pitiful, forgotten masses. That roiling, uncountable crush of humanity, they who held the pikes and they who threw down the tyrants. Their veins opened by gazes academic, sharp and cruel, and pecked away at with quills, written out of their own story. The Second Dark Crusade was a time of such poignancy. A time when the light of man waned and flickered, choking in the acrid smoke of its own inadequacy. As befitting of such an age it has been covered more than a capital whore, and so I attempt not to tell that story again. That story of dull, unfeeling analysis. Neither here will you find the browbeating, propagandistic screeds so common in the hands of men, the light of youth still burning behind their eyes. Nay, here I shall attempt to cover fresh ground, not tread on the grave dirt of long dead authors. Here I shall attempt to tell the story of the small lives caught, unbeknownst to them, in the great and torrential downpour that we now call history. Here lies the true story of The Second Crusade. - Loremaster Ip'Qal
