《Undead Nightmare》Chapter 2: School Of The DEAD

Her name was Saeko Busujima, she was 17 years old and was a third year in Fujimi Academy like I was. She had blue eyes and long purple hair which was uncommon for a Japanese girl. Saeko was 5'8, she weighed 123lbs, her bust was 83cm, her waist was 56cm and her hips were 86cm. I only knew those extra things about her because I overheard a group of guys talk about her and say those things. While I didn't know if those measurements were accurate, I really didn't care. Saeko was beautiful and was extremely skilled with a sword. I figured as much considering who her family was and who her grandfather was.
The Busujima family was known for its swordsmanship and skill with a blade, they had their own fighting style and had many dojos all over Japan. My family on my mother's side also had its own dojo and had its own fighting style. My grandfather before he died would tell me all about his friend who was a Busujima. He taught me everything I needed to know about the way of the sword and would have his friends teach me what they knew as well. Right now wasn't the really a good time to worry about that considering what was going on.

Y/N and Saeko were on their way to the administrator's office so they could get out of the school before it was completely overrun with the undead. The two of them were doing their best to avoid the undead as to not waste effort fighting them. They also didn't want to fight the undead as it would only attract more and the two of them didn't want to get surrounded. However the two did cut down any undead that tried to attack them or got int their. There was a few things that Y/N noticed about Saeko Busujima as he watched her kill the undead. One of those things was how graceful she moved, with a single swing she could take down more then one undead at a time.
Another thing that Y/N noticed was how she seemed to have a smile on her face as she killed them. It looked as though she enjoyed killing the undead, Y/N didn't know how to exactly feel about that. Yes he was now killing those who had made his life at school hell but he didn't really get all that much satisfaction from it. But Y/N did however feel a sense of relief as he let out all of his built up emotion with each of his swings.
The two of us, Busujima and I had made it through the school and we had almost made it to the administrator's office. We did almost go to the faculty room but that was a bad idea, other students had gone there seeking help only to be attacked and eaten by zombified teachers. The school was a nightmare, dead bodies everywhere, zombies eating corpses or killing a few stragglers left around here and there. Busujima and I only focused on getting to the administrator's office but we soon heard something up ahead.
"Did you hear that Tatagami-san?" Busujima asked me
"I did, it could be more of those things" I answered putting my hand on the hilt of my wakizashi, getting ready to draw it
"I think it was coming from the nurse's office" Busujima said listening for the sound
"Could be survivors" I said listening to the sound as well
"We should go and help them" Busujima said
"Are you sure you want to do that Busujima?" I asked her wanting to know how serious she was
Advertisement
"If we hurry we can save whoever is alive and then we would have more numbers as we escape" Busujima said not answering the questions
"You are right, I guess we should get going then" I said
"I will follow you then" Busujima said
The two of us then ran off to the nurse's office to help the people who were in danger. Another important rule to surviving a zombie apocalypse or any dangerous disaster was to be in a group with numbers. The more people, the better your chances of survival were, only if they were capable of surviving themselves. If they could do that then those people would only slow you down and lower your chances of survival. Hopefully whoever we saved would be able to survive and wouldn't slow Busujima or I down.
Holding off a group of undead with an IV pole in the nurse's office was a young student. He was protecting the school nurse with incredibly large "assessts" Shizuka Marikawa. Unfortunately for the young student, one of the undead ends up bitting him which means he will eventually turn into one of them. He tries to get miss Shizuka to escape while she can and to not forget him but unfortunately she does not even know his name. As the undead begin to bite down into the young student each of the undead suddenly dies.
One of the undead gets their head bashed in while the other two get stabbed through the backs of their heads. Once they fall over dead, it is revealed that Y/N and Saeko were the ones who ended up killing the undead.
"You saved me" Shizuka says to the two
Right away Saeko goes to the side of the student who tried to save Shizuka from being attacked by the undead
"You did a very heroic thing, saving her like that" Saeko tells the young student
"I...I did what I could" the young student says coughing up blood
"I am sure you are aware of what happens when one of those things bites a person?" Saeko asks the young student
The look on his face gave it away, he knew what was going to happen to him now that he had gotten bit
"Can you tell me your name?" Saeko asks the young student
"Kazu...my name is Kazu" the young student answers giving Saeko his name
"Now Kazu, would you want your family and loved ones to see you as one of those things?" Saeko asks the young student Kazu
"No, I defiantly don't want them to see me like that" he answers
"Then I will end your suffering here and now before you transform into one of them" Saeko says as she stands up
Saeko readies her wooden sword but before she can use it Y/N stops her and hands her his tanto knife
"This will make it less messy" he tells her
Saeko nods and takes the tanto, she leans down and quickly stabs Kazu in the head, killing him before he can transform. Saeko pulls the tanto out and cleans it off before handing it back to Y/N.
"That just happened" Shizuka said
"Alright miss Shizuka, you should come with Busujima and I" Y/N tells Shizuka
"Let me grab my medical supplies" Shizuka says as she grabs her medkit and other supplies
"Once you grab that, let's get out of here" Y/N says
After rescuing miss Shizuka from the zombies in the nurse's office, she joined Busujima and I as we tried to find away out of the school. As we traversed the halls, I decided to run a few important tests on the zombies we encountered. I already knew how the spread and how to avoid getting infected as well as killing them. There was a few other important pieces of information that I needed in order to help us continue to survive. We stopped at a corner and peaked over to see a few zombies standing around not doing anything. A grabbed a baseball that I found on the floor and tossed it up a bit.

"What exactly are you going to do with that?" Miss Shizuka asked me confused
"I would like to know as well" Busujima said
"I have a theory that I want to test out" I answered
I then lightly tossed the baseball at a nearby locker making noise, the zombie heard the noise and began to bang up against the locker
"Just like I thought" I said
"I see now" Busujima said
"I still don't get it" miss Shizuka said confused
"The zombies are basically blind, they act on sound and move towards it, hoping it is food" I tried to explain to miss Shizuka
Miss Shizuka still had a look of confusion on her face even after I did my best to explain it to her
"He means if they can hear you, they'll find you" Busujima told miss Shizuka
"Oh, I get it now" miss Shizuka said
I let out a sigh of irritation as we continued on our way through the school halls. After the sound test there was something else that I was going to test but it was going to be just a little bit messy. It involved me doing just a few things that stopped us from moving forwards. However knowing this would be a massive help if we ever wanted to sneak through hordes of these undead assholes. First I found a dead body and using my wakizashi I cut off an arm from it. Next I found a zombie, I killed it and then also cut off an arm from it after I killed it. With the arm from a zombie and a fresh dead body my next test could be begin.
First we found a good spot to hide behind and as we peaked around the corner there was a small gathering of zombies. First I threw the severed zombie arm at the group of zombies to see how they would react. The arm made some noise and one of the zombies grabbed it. Next it sniffed it and not to my surprise the zombie just dropped the arm and continued to shamble around. I then threw the other arm that I collected, the non zombie arm and threw it at them. This time things were just a little bit different, one of the zombies grabbed the arm and began to eat.
"What is the point of all that?" Miss Shizuka asked me
"We already know they react to sound but I needed to see how they were with smell" I answered
"It appears as though they can smell the difference between a living person and one of them" Busujima said looking at the zombies eating the arm
"They can only smell the living so if the situation arises I have a way of helping us sneak past them" I said
"Are there any other tests that you would like to try?" Busujima asked me
"No I'm good, I've got enough information to help us survive and get past these bastards" I answered
With that, the three of us found another hallway to go down that didn't have any zombies in it. We were then going to go and find a way out of the school and hopefully a way into the city.

We continued our way through the halls of the school, still trying to find a way out. I had come to realization that we not only needed to find a way out of the school but also a form of transportation. The transportation would not only help us get through the city but it would also help us move around faster.
"Miss Shizuka, where does the staff keep all their keys for their vehicles?" I asked miss Shizuka
"Um, I pretty sure all the keys for the teacher's vehicles are kept in the staff room" miss Shizuka answered
I looked over at Busujima to see if she would agree to us going there
"If it helps, I guess that is the next place we can go" Busujima said
With a new destination set, the three of us headed towards the staff room where we could grab some car keys and "borrow" one of the teacher's vehicles. As we ran down the hallway, Busujima and I avoided killing the zombies that we ran past or were around us. We continued to do this until miss Shizuka stopped and asked us why we weren't killing them.
"So why aren't you killing those things?" Miss Shizuka asked us
"We aren't killing them because there isn't a need to, they are slow and we are faster" I answered
"Plus the more we killed the more the dead bodies would slow us down" Busujima answered
All around us were the dead bodies of students and teachers all over the floor, some were there because they died there while others had been dragged by the zombies. I still wondered if they dragged the bodies into the halls to slow down the survivors so they could finish them off. That was something I wanted to know, dumb slow zombies were one thing but intelligent zombies were something else.
"I think it is best if we continue on now" Busujima said
"We need to hurry fast before we get surrounded" I said
We then continued to head towards the staff room, still avoiding the zombies we ran past or came towards us. Right away I began to see that miss Shizuka had fallen behind and wasn't running all that fast. Busujima also noticed this but she had a plan to fix this problem so miss Shizuka would be able to keep up either us.
"What are you doing?" Miss Shizuka asked Busujima as she grabbed her skirt
Busujima didn't answer, she instead ripped part of miss Shizuka's skirt which caught her off guard
"Why did you do that?" Miss Shizuka asked Busujima freaking out
"You'll be able to run faster and keep up with the two of us" Busujima answered telling miss Shizuka why she ripped her skirt
"But it was designer" miss Shizuka complained with a sigh
"Do you care more about designer clothing or your life?" I asked miss Shizuka
"Can't I care about both?" Miss Shizuka asked
"Well there's some progress but we need to continue moving" I said
After all of that was over and done with the three of us continued on our way but something happened that stopped us. Off in the distance we heard the loud screaming of a girl and the sounds of zombies. Busujima and I looked at one another and decided that we needed to go and help them out.

Standing in a corner surrounded by zombies was Kohta Hirano with a modified nail gun and Saya Takagi handing Kohta the nails. Kohta was quickly and effectively killing the undead with his nail gun but he soon realized that he was starting to run out of nails.
"Takagi throw me some more nails" Kohta told Saya
Saya went to throw him more nails but was unable to as one of the undead started to approach her. Panicked and afraid for her life, Saya turned on the drill she had and rammed it into the head of the undead. Blood splattered everywhere as Saya pushed the drill deeper into the head of the undead until she was sure it was really dead. Watching all of that happened was Y/N along with Saeko and miss Shizuka. On the other side of them was another group of students, a guy and girl.
"See, I can do anything I put my mind to" Saya said as the undead fell to the ground dead
Soon, Saya fell to her knees and began to bawl her eyes out, Saeko went over and began to comfort Saya. Y/N looked around and saw all of the undead on the ground with nails in their heads.
"I would hate to miss seeing what you can do with a real gun" Y/N told Kohta
"I think its best if we move to somewhere safe" the other guy suggested
"Best not to stay out in the open" Y/N said
With that Y/N and the others moved into the workshop room and out of the halls

Workshop: Fujimi Academy
Their names were Takashi Komuro, Rei Miyamoto, Saya Takagi and Kohta Hirano. Each of them had grouped together like I had with Busujima and eventually miss Shizuka. Busujima and I had told them about our plan to grab some keys from the staff room and find a vehicle out of here. I also had told them about how the zombies worked and we compared what we had found.
"Do you think someone is going to come and help us?" Miss Shizuka asked
"We did see some SDF helicopters flying over the school" Miyamoto said
"They're probably busy dealing with this thing elsewhere, same with the police" Takagi said
"In most cases the army should be able to stop the spread easily by killing all the infected" I said
"They must be evacuating civilians instead of killing these things because it seems like their numbers aren't shrinking" Takagi said
"My sister is in the JDF and she hasn't gotten in contact with me which means they are probably busy dealing with this thing too" I said
"What if it is only happening in the school and around it?" Miss Shizuka asked
"Highly unlikely, these things seem to be leaving the school, looking for more food" Hirano said looking out the window
"It seems like we need to come up with a plan then" I said
"Tatagami-san is right, we need a plan" Busujima said agreeing with me
"What did you have in mind?" Komuro asked me
"Besides getting us a vehicle we need to think of a plan once we leave the school" I answered
"I suggest we go and find our parents" Komuro said
"Yeah, I've got to find my father" Miyamoto said
I didn't really care if my aunt or uncle were dead, I knew my sister was safe wherever she was at
"I'm pretty sure my parents are fine but I would like to make sure they are okay" Takagi said
"I don't think risking our lives looking for them is such a good idea" I said speaking up
"Why do you think that?" Komuro asked me
"Miyamoto's dad is a cop and I am pretty sure everyone else's parents are at an evac point" I answered
"I still need to know if they are alive" Komuro said
"It wouldn't do you or any of us getting ourselves killed trying to find them when they are most likely okay" I told Komuro
He grew silent, he knew I was right but I could see the worry in his eyes for his parents. If mine were alive, I would want to ignore the rules and make sure they were alive.
"Okay, we can go and look for them but only after we get out of the school" I said
"We're gonna need some better weapons if we are going to get out of the school" Miyamoto said speaking up
I looked at all the weapons they had on them, a metal baseball bat, a broken mop handle, a modified nail gun and power drill. Busujima's sword may have been made out of wood but she was still effective with it.
"Before we head out, I think its best if you all either modify your weapons or make some new ones" I told them
"What about you?" Komuro asked me
I took out my wakizashi and tanto and placed them down on the table
"I think I am good" I answered before putting them back on my belt
"Guys, I think you should see this" Takagi said getting our attention
All of us looked up at the TV in the workshop and saw that the news was on. Right away all of our fears about this outbreak had just been confirmed by what we were seeing on the TV. This virus or outbreak, whatever you wanted to call it, wasn't just at the school, it had spread to the town. It wasn't just in the town, it had spread to the nearby cities. Not just that but this thing had spread all the way through Japan. It wasn't just Japan that it had spread to, it had also spread to all the other counties and nations of the world.
The prime minister and the emperor of Japan had become infected were now zombies. Almost every high powered official in the Japanese government had become zombies. Even the president of the United States of America and his cabinet had become infected. Things had just gone from bad to worse, really really worse and it looked like there was no chance of it getting any better. I was hoping my family in America were okay and that they were safe. This was really starting to look like the end of the world and all of us were trapped here.
"Now what do we do?" Hirano asked
"We do the only thing we can do" Busujima answered
"What is that exactly?" Takagi asked
"Survive, all we can do is survive this" Komuro answered
"The real question is how long can we survive this" Takagi said
"Don't say that Takagi" Hirano said to her

The Choice is Not Yours
Author's Note: (As of November 20, 2021) I rewrote all the chapters perhaps more than a year ago, but haven't announced that I did so. Because that kind of announcement would include something along the lines of, "I'm working on the story so expect new chapters!" But the truth is, I lack motivation to do anything. And I would hate myself if I broke a promise. I'm extremely sorry if you have been patiently waiting for uploads. These days, I've been studying, not well, but studying somewhat. I will definitely bring more to show, with regular uploads. If not this story then there's another story I've been writing that's really exciting to me. It's not exactly similar to this story since it has a male lead and he is a baneful asshole with even less morals. I hope you'll like it when it comes to existence. And I'll leave my announcement off with the aforementioned promise. Meet Amber, a tomboyish, unstable, and cheeky lass who likes to keep to herself. According to her, she'll live the rest of her life on auto-pilot mode, awhile holding onto the few things that make her remotely happy. However, she forgot that people never really leave you alone, be it humans or even the Gods. And exactly that happens, ending her monotonous life on such the Gods' whim. But at what cost to her? Will she be able to hold onto the things she holds dear? Or will she fail miserably and lose herself in the process? That's what the Gods want to know. Disclaimer: I do not own the cover photo.Warning: If you are easily triggered, I am not writing this novel for you.
