The smell of exotic tea's wafted in the air when they entered and a server rushed forward crooning "Your Grace! welcome, right this way". He placed them at a more secluded part of the shop where they drank tea, ate scones and chatted idly. Isabella felt at ease, enjoying being distracted from the woes of her life. He did not mention her father and she was grateful for it; however she began to wonder if he knew of what had transpired.
Just then Alexander leaned forward saying "can I tell you a secret?". Isabella smiled feeling like a child once more and whispered "yes, what?". " Its a rather sad tale actually" Alexander began. " A good friend of mine has just passed away, he was in the West Indies on business and contracted Cholera*". Isabella gasped "oh I'm so sorry to hear that" she replied. She could see the hurt in his eyes and it pained her.
"Yes well, the secret is he had a child called Emma, she's just 6 years old and has no one left to care for her, her mother died a year after she was born. Jack wrote a letter to me before he died saying he did not have long left to live and he asked me to care for her. I've accepted and she will be arriving next week".
Isabella was astonished, she had heard of Alexander's rakish ways and he had proven them once again with her, but he had also proved to be kind in a way she had not expected. "So you will have a ward* under your care! How do you think you will fare?" she replied in a shocked tone and giggled at the unintended ryhme.
"Hmm, I don't know but I could not turn down a friends dying request, she will have a good life, I will promise her that" he said with conviction in his tone. Isabella believed he was speaking the truth. "And who knows maybe it will make an honest man out of me, having someone else's interests to think of above my own". Isabella laughed "I'm sure you will do wonderfully"

"Well you have more faith in me than some" he replied "My aunt was none too pleased when she heard the news. I am to marry a woman of her choosing you see and she thinks this complicates matters".
A sudden pang of jealously rushed over Isabella at the news, before she instantly berated herself thinking "you foolish girl, obviously he is destined to marry a lady of high birth". The response she felt to the news confirmed that she did have feelings for him, feelings she knew she must burry and never uncover again. "Well I'm sure your aunt will come around once she meets the child, and your future bride will surely accept her too" she smiled though it did not meet her eyes.
Alexander beamed at her "I hope you are right" he stated before rising from his seat "Shall we leave?" he inquired, Isabella nodded and they made their way to the door. Just then Miss Parker spotted Isabella and her face betrayed that she knew of her father. She bounded forward a look of malice on her face "Ah my dear, I'm so sorry to hear about your father, how are you feeling" she gushed, insincerity dripping from every word.
Alexander then stepped forward from behind Isabella and Miss Parker went pale "Ah your Grace, good afternoon" she stumbled, looking from Isabella to the duke, confusion written on her features. "What do you mean.. so sorry to hear about your father... Isabella what's this about?" Alexander asked.
At the use of Isabella's given name instead of the socially correct "Miss Bradford" Miss Parker almost fell from where she was standing. She openly gapped at them before cutting Isabella's attempt at replying short and stating "Oh your grace did you not hear, Miss Bradford's father is to be imprisoned for unpaid debts, enormous debts at that, this Monday I hear". Alexander stared in shock before taking Isabella's arm and saying "Excuse us". He pushed past Miss Parker and walked to his carriage without stopping, Isbella struggling to keep up with his pace.

Hand extended he helped Isabella into the carriage and took the seat across from her stating "Why didn't you tell me?" Isabella didn't reply for a couple of minutes before replying "I didn't want to trouble you with it, this is a matter for my family to deal with and I cannot take others pity. My father must deal with his crime and my family's ruin cannot be undone".
Alexander grimaced " I see...". The rest of the carriage ride passed in silence until the carriage neared her family home and the thought that it wasn't going to be her home much longer sent a pang of pain through her heart.
She exited the carriage quickly just as it had stopped, stating "Thank you your grace and goodbye". He paused before replying "Goodbye Miss Bradford" his tone sounding distant. Isabella hurried up the steps to her home, an ache starting to build in her throat as she tried to stop the tears that were threatening to erupt from her " That is the last time I will see him again" she whispered solemnly before running to her room and slamming the door.

How am I Supposed to Save This World with No Power?
Wu Li was but a student trapped in a future he did not want when the Portal sought him out to become the Savior of an entire world. However, unlike any beings born in that world, Wu has not a single ounce of power within his body. Worse yet, he's the fourth one that's been summoned in history and he's got massive shoes to fill. How will he overcome his own powerlessness and become the savior that everyone expects him to be? With a beautiful girl acting as his slightly disappointed yet adorable guardian, a smoking hot rivalling bounty hunter from the High societies out to take his head, and countless other encounters along the way, Wu fights on to become the greatest of the four saviors, while seeding this world with...the principles of science. This is a story set in a world with a rich history of the magic power known as the Wave, and all native species are capable of interacting with the Wave to obtain power in a variety of ways. Think of this as a combination of Dr Stone and Black Clover! I am writing this story using similar structures to anime seasons, and the chapters in itself are structured more like manga chapters. The first two seasons are already planned out, and it is likely going to be daily upload (12 noon EST) of chapters from ~ 2 k words in length during the 'season' when there is backlog of chapters, with a week or two of a break in between seasons if no backlog. If you liked this story, please drop a rating and review. If you hated it, please drop a review and help me get better. Don't just spam a 0.5 rating and leave like a coward lol.

The Morgulon
Greg never really wanted to become a werewolf hunter. He just wanted to prove to his father that he could do the job his family was famous for, maybe earn some money while he’s at it. He certainly never wanted to become a werewolf, or run away from home, or fight the inquisition. Unfortunately, as his brothers would say, fate has a shitty sense of humour. Updates on Mondays. "I feel like this story perfectly represents how you can't judge a book by its cover (or, in this case, concept). Edgy badboy werewolf teen romance? Yeet that concept out the window and get ready for an action-packed fantasy with an incredibly built world and logical, realistic characters." "This is a great story, probably better than any werewolf novel I've read. It's certainly not a typical werewolf story (but don't let that stop you from reading it, the werewolves are still amazing.)" "A werewolf story where people aren't constantly meeting gruesome ends that still maintains a gritty atmosphere. Realistic worldbuilding and character design make this a must read!" - RR reviews The first chapter is also on DeviantArt, more may follow.

Kill 10 Rats
You awake in the middle of an unfamiliar woods with nothing but a knife and a pair of pants. You have no idea where you are, how you got there, or even what your name is. Noob Slayer is an average college student, part time computer repair guy, and a full time gamer. He awakes to find himself in a world he does not understand. Follow him as he explores this new world, looks for answers, and tries to remember his name. Authors Note: This is a side-project I started after being widely stumped trying to write another book. It is my first attempt to actually post something I've written online, but don't be afraid to be brutal. Improving myself is why I wanted to write this in the first place. I know the VRMMO genera is a bit over-done but hopefully it has a few good stories left to tell. Warning: This is written in the first person. Will contain brutal fight-scenes, bad pop-culture references, a ton of MMO-tropes, and possibly some light sex if the MC doesn't screw it up too badly. Legend of the Guild: Point Blank
Status: On hiatus indefinitely, because I'm going to be busy and the story is now at a place where it needs major reconstruction. Curt is a young gunslinger from a small town called Ore Town, situated in a barren wasteland known as the Dusts. While sabotaging the gang threatening his town, Curt is forced to take a leap of faith, literally. He plunges into the sea of clouds expecting death, only to arrive in an entirely new world beneath his own. Saved by a young girl using magic, Curt isn't too sure what to make of his second chance of life. When he meets a fellow Duster who had fallen years ago, he's roped into becoming second-in-command of a brand new guild. Guild duties aren't easy, especially as Curt is tasked to recruit fighters to take on the Grand Guild Tournament, where the winning guild takes home an enormous prize pool -- and most importantly, a mysterious ticket to the fabled "Star City" that exists above the clouds. Going with the flow only takes him so far, and Curt soon finds himself burdened with more responsibility than he bargained for, including the fate of the two worlds. ==============================Wordpress This webnovel is written for fun, and everything posted is essentially a first draft. Beware of typos and lack of creative descriptions — my main priority is to get the story out over writing quality. Still, I hope you enjoy the story. Updates are sporadic, but I aim to release a chapter (~2000-3000 words) at least once a week. Average release time is 1 chapter/3 days. I took inspiration from the lore of the MMO, Dungeon Fighter Online (Dungeon & Fighter), and there may be easter eggs or references to the game, but the story and characters have become wholly original and standalone.
