《Killer Bay》The Calm Before The Storm

"I need more sandbags over here!" Frank yells as the wind whipped at his raincoat.
"On their way!" Adalet shouted back as she and Yann wheeled over the cart of sandbags.
"Man," the detective grunts hefting a bag onto the wall he was building along the road, "we're going to drown before we can get this done!"
"Actually," Russell spoke up, "the statistics of drowning during the start of a tropical storm are-!"
"I don't want to know!" Frank cut him off quickly, "just hand me another bag, kid!"
"Are you sure you want to be out here, Yann?" Adalet asks taking a bag from the scientist, "shouldn't you be getting your house ready for the storm?"
"There's another team working on that area," Yann replied re-tying his dreads back, "they predict that that area won't get the brunt of the storm again, but you can never be too sure."
"Thanks again for taking Ahmet for the day," she says as they headed back to the truck, "he's really warmed up to the kids."
"It's no problem, Ahmet's always welcomed at our house," he assured, "besides, I might have him babysit some night."
She laughed, "I'll mention it to him later..."
They stopped behind one of the large box trucks that the emergency teams were using to transport their gear across town with. Adalet and Yann began reloading their wheelbarrows with more sandbags to disperse to the teams around the neighbourhood.
"Hey, Yann..." Adalet says dropping a bag into her cart, "I haven't been able to ask you... but have you thought about looking for Léon?"
Yann paused in his move to grab another sandbag, "I... I don't know, Adalet. After years of thinking I had no one left from my family, I find out that I have a brother that I was never told about! And from my nephew who I didn't even know existed!"

"Yeah, I can see where that would be shocking..." she replies, tossing a sandbag into her wheelbarrow, "but Yann, this is your brother, don't you want to know who he is? Or why you never knew about him?"
"Well, yes..." he sighed, "but when I asked Nathan if he knew how to find him, he said the information he had changed over the year, the most recent piece of contact information he had was an email address, no phone number or even a home address!"
"But he does live in Jazz Town?" she prompted.
"As far as Nathan knew, he just moved within the district during the last five years, after he retired from active service," he answered.
"So just ask Hannah to track him down," Adalet says, "you know she could do it in her sleep!"
"I know, I know, it's just..."
"Just what, Yann?"
Yann watched as the dark storm clouds moved across the sky, "I'm scared, what if he doesn't like me? What if he wants nothing to do with me?! Maybe he left because he hated mom and dad, or me!"
"Yann, I am going to tell you something I haven't told anyone else," she waited until he was looking at her, "my mother was horrible to me growing up, she tried to live her life through me and when I was finally able to move out, I went as far away as I could, and I mean far! I was terrified of seeing her again, some things my fear would keep me up all night long..."
"What did you do?' he asked.
"Nothing," she responded, "the next time I saw her, we got into a fight and she died later that night... But for how much I hated her, I still wish that we could have moved on, become family again... I'd give anything to tell her that I loved her again, but I can't. But Yann, you have a chance to have a brother, don't you think you owe it to not only yourself and your parents to meet him, but that you also owe it to Léon?"

Yann seemed to ponder this for a moment. The wind around them picked up blowing the grass and trees around them in its cold breeze. Adalet watched as her teammate looked to have the gears spinning wildly inside his head before he came up with an answer.
"You should have been a lawyer, Adalet," Yann chuckled, "you make a compelling argument... Alright, after this storm clears, I'll ask Hannah to find him."
"Promise?" Adalet questions.
He grinned, "promise, now let's get these bags to Frank and Russell before they kill each other!"
"Why did they agree to be on the same team again?"
