What are you doing for Christmas eve?

Athena's POV

Suddenly, I heard someone clear their throat, making me push Max away. "YOU. What are you doing here," Max said as he looked towards the door while helping me up.

As I stood up, I turned to see Adriano standing there smirking at Max. "Looks like I came at the wrong time," Adriano said as he chuckled. "Anyways hi Athena," he said as he gave as he gave me a smile.

"Hi Adriano," I said as I gave him a smile back. "What are you doing here," Max asked again. "Just thought of paying you a visit," he said as he took a seat at the table. "Wait did you make that, Athena," he asked as he looked at the chicken Parmesan and the pasta. I giggled and nodded. "You should join us for dinner," I said and he nodded. "I'm sure he has better things to do," Max said making me shake my head.

"No actually I'm free. Oh plus I miss eating your food," he said and that truly touched my heart. I love it when someone loves my cooking. "I'm the best. You have to admit that," I said as I smiled. "Little dove, let's go get changed," Max said out of no where just before Adriano could respond. "We will be quick, Adriano," I said as we went to our respective rooms.

After a few minutes, I rushed back to the kitchen to find the maids leaving after cleaning up the mess that we made. Well they were very quick I must say. "So Adriano we have a lot to catch up on," I said as I took out an additional plate for him. "Yea. I also tried reaching out to you but you were unreachable. Stupidly, I only knew your first name," he said as he shook his head.

Just then Max entered the kitchen and took a seat between me and Adriano. Damn he looks pissed. "What's with the scowl, Maxi boy," Adriano said making me laugh. "My fist wants to meet your face," Max said in all seriousness. "Chill out dude," Adriano said as we started eating. Max simply threw him a glare and carried on with his meal.

"So tell me everything," Adriano said as he took a bite of his pasta. He moaned as he chewed. "As delicious as I remember it," Adriano said, making me laugh. What a crazy guy. "It's very delicious,little dove," Max said after Adriano. He then took my hand and kiss the back of it. Just by this small kiss on my hand, I felt my heart speed up. "Thank you guys," I said as I was very happy that they liked the food. "Oh what's the bruise on your cheek," Adriano said as he looked concerned.

Max looked guilty as he heard what Adriano said. "I elbowed her in the face," Max said making me slap my forehead with my hand. "It was an accident. I literally ran into him," I said as I slid my hand into his. I gave him a reassuring smile. "I still can't believe that you are engaged Max," Adriano said out of nowhere, making me chuckle.

"I know it's unbelievable," I said as I knew that he had a reputation for being with a lot of women. "Come on. It's not that big of deal," Max said as he rolled his eyes. "I'm skeptical about you two though," Adriano said and I sensed Max tense up.

"What do you mean," Max asked at he glared at him. "I mean come on Athena. I know you always wanted a guys who was humble and all that. Max is just so full of himself," Adriano said without any hesitation. "Excuse me. I'm right here," Max said. Well this whole situation just amusing to me but stressed at the same time.

"Come on guys, I know there is something up. I know way too much about your personal life ,Max. I would have known if you were seeing someone," Adriano said as he casually ate. I didn't know what to say so I simply looked at Max who had a blank expression.

"Why do I have a feeling that you know something that you shouldn't know," Max said as he glared at him. Wow he did that a lot today. "Well I may have seen a certain document in your office earlier when I was working," Adriano said and then I realised that he must have seen the contract.

"Why do you have to be such a drama queen. Couldn't you just go straight to the point," Max said as he smacked Adriano's head. "So can someone tell me why you had to make a contract," Adriano said as he looked at me. I was about to answer when Max beat me to me. "I needed my mom to stop her matchmaking. She is always on my back about getting settled down. So I asked Athena to be my fiance," he said the truth shortly and actually accurately.

"That means I still have a chance," Adriano said in a whisper to himself that I almost not hearing him. I frowned but didn't think much about it. "Oh well that's actually crazy," Adriano said casually. "Athena I pity you for being stuck with this asshole for a year," he said, making Max frown.

"Adriano, Max is not like that, he is a nice guy," I said and Adriano just rolled his eyes. "Will you stop talking as if I'm not here, you asshole," Max growled at Adriano. At that point, I couldn't understand if they were being serious or not.

"It's not like I'm lying. I'm stating facts, brother," Adriano said, making me realise that they were now messing with each other. Adriano is like a kid who is stuck in an adult's body. "You are still as childish as I remember," I finally said after not talking for so long.

"And you are still as perfect as I remember," Adriano said, nearly making my mouth drop to the floor. "Okay so look at the time. We have to get some sleep now. I'm sure you are tired too," Max abruptly said. "Oh yea. I'll see you guys later. I have work to get done," Adriano said as he put his plate away.

As we bid farewell to Adriano, I kept thinking about the kiss that happened just a few hours ago. I mean how will Max behave? That's it, we are now alone.
