What do you think about Athena?

Athena's POV

Today has been amazing so far. Max went to work and I spent the entire morning baking brownies. I am feeling this outburst of joy from within and I just don't know what to do.

"I should go visit my mom," I thought to myself as I sliced the cooled off brownies in front of me. The aroma of those freshly baked brownies is making it hard for me to not eat all of it. It took all the willpower in me to not devour the entire bunch of brownies.

"You already had 3, Delia. Sharing is caring," I said as I packed some to bring for mom and Eros. I also left some behind for Max because I felt like he would like them.

Running to my bedroom, I quickly changed my clothes and grabbed all my things. "Where is my sketchbook," I said out loud as I looked around. Remembering that it was in my backpack, I quickly went and put it in my bag.

Quickly grabbing my things, I walked out of the house to see John and Ethan. "Good morning boys," I said as I walked towards the garage. "Good morning Athena, where do you want to go today," John asked me as he opened the door for me while Ethan walked to the driver's seat. "Let's go to my mom's house," I said and he nodded before getting into the front.

After what seemed forever, we finally reached mom's house. Knocking on the door, I patiently waited for mom to open.

"Hi mommy," I said as she opened the door. "Oh hi honey, come in," she said as she moved to the side. Giving her the box of brownies, I went to sit on the chair in the kitchen where she was cleaning up.

"Mommy, let's go shopping," I said as she wiped the counter top. "Well then okay. You can also text Eros and tell him to come meet us at the mall," she said. Looking at the time, I realised that his school was nearly over. Nodding, I took my phone and sent him a text while mom went to change her clothes.

We walked out of the house and locked the door behind us. "Mommy, this is John and Ethan," I said as I pointed to the two bulky man towering us. "Mrs. Demetrius, it's a pleasure," John said as he shook her hand followed by Ethan.

As Ethan drove us to the mall, I was constantly playing with the the vintage ring around my middle finger, next to my engagement ring. "I see you really love the ancestral ring, sweetie," mom said bringing me out of my thoughts.

"Yea, it's beautiful. It seems really old," I said as I examined the details of the ring. "Well it is really old. This ring is likely hundreds of years old. You know how on your dad's side, there were wealthy and living lavishly. Well this is ring was made by one of your father's great great great grandfather. Then the ring was passed down from generation to generation and now it's yours. From what your dad told me, the ring was made to represent the innocence and purity of your great great great grandmother," mom said making me gasp.

"Wow we surely had romantic men in our family," I said as I chuckled to myself. Mom laughed at my statement as she shook her head.

After a few more minutes, we finally reached the mall. We looked around with John and Ethan trailing behind us. I must say, I have been getting some unwanted attention as I could see people staring at me knowing that I was the fiancee of Maximus Knight.

"Oh mommy look at this one. Go try it on," I told her as I handed her the beautiful floral dress. She turned and walked to the trial room while I continued looking for more clothes for her. Scrolling around, I was looking at the clothes when I suddenly someone utter my name.

"Yea, I just saw Athena Demetrius, you know Maximus Knight's fiancee. Have you looked at how cheap she looks," the lady in blue said to the other one standing next to her. "I seriously don't know what he sees in her, Elaine," the woman said to her friend. "I heard that she isn't even rich. Maybe she is just a gold digger," she said. At that point, I was fuming. "Yea probably, I must admit, Amanda Reed was a better suit for him. This Athena girl is just trash," one of them said making my insides boil.

Walking out of that section of the store, I decided to brush it off for now and just enjoy the time with my mom and Eros who was going to join us.

After buying all the things that we needed, me and my mom went to meet Eros at the coffee shop. We even invited Ethan and John to come join us. "Honey you really didn't need to buy me all those things," mom said making me shake my head. "I wanted to, mommy. Anyways do you want new clothes Eros," I asked him and he nodded.

"Ok we will get some clothes for you when we finish our drink," I said. Mom was having fun and animatedly talking to both John and Ethan, asking about their kids and wife. I should really take mom out more often because she must be very bored at him.

Soon after, we were all done with our drinks and mom wanted to go home. So Ethan drove her back while me, Eros and John went back to shopping. "So when is your graduation party, dumdum" I asked as he dragged me into the store. Talking to Eros is kind of soothing to me as I always end up laughing and forgetting my problems.

"I'm so excited to learn architecture, Delia," he said making me smile. "You know I missed you a lot, you little stinky butt," I said as I hugged him and gave him kiss on the cheek. "Why was that so sloppy," he said as he wipe his cheek with the back of his hand. "Tell me you love me or else I'll not buy you anything," I said as I gave him a smirk. "I love you," he said while he stuck his tongue at me.

After two torturous hours of shopping with Eros, we were finally done. As we went to the coffee shop to grab something to drink, I saw the two women that were talking shit about me. Maybe they are right. I might not be the suitable "partner" for Max. Looking at the rings in my fingers, my eyes widened as that I couldn't imagine my life without Max. According to the deal, once the year of the contract is over, I would not be able to see him or contact him at all.

I am in love with him. I am in love with Maximus Knight and I am not even worth him. If I go through with this contract, the rumors about me being with him might just spice up and harm his reputation. Now I don't even have to worry about the money for Eros' university because I just figured it out. There is absolutely no reason for me to pursue the deal because the sole purpose was to get money to pay for my brother's university.
