《The Man Between The Pages {Jikook} [completed]》~Compulsive liars ~

far as I know Jungkook, not all sociopaths are harmful. How did you even come to that conclusion?'' Jimin questioned the younger man.
Currently sitting on the couch in front of Jungkook's fireplace- drinking the usual afternoon tisanes- the twenty three year old decided that he wanted to discuss about the ''sociopath'' topic with someone. For an odd reason calling Jin was out of Jungkook's picture and after spending a sufficient amount of time thinking over and over again, he came to the decision of giving a call to Jimin.
He didn't even bother writing it down on his papers. He just grabbed his phone and called him like two normal people actually do. Two friends...with an aliquot of sexual tension.
''Taehyung said something weird yesterday. Of course I didn't believe him at first but I...fuck...I did some research on the subject and it turns out...''.
''So you are telling me that you searched online and you believed everything you read? Kook, come on! I thought that you were more clever than that'' he chuckled, making the younger's eyes pop out of their sockets.
''I am a writer...The fact that I have a vivid imagination and a vast vocabulary doesn't make me clever'' he retorted earning a whicker from Jimin.
''Did you just roast yourself Kook ?''.
''I am serious Jimin. I am driving myself insane'' the man uttered and wrapped his hands around himself.
''Sorry, sorry for the teasing... But Kook, you can't possibly believe you are a sociopath. I mean sociopaths are people who are just manipulative narcissists. And you don't look like the manipulative type, at least not to me'' Jimin tried to reassure the younger, yet Jungkook looked as if he didn't believe a word.
Taehyung's words had put down roots in his brain and they had slowly began to make their way to his heart as well. Sure, Jimin's comforting words had managed to put him at ease but Jungkook wasn't able to breathe clearly yet. He was one of these people, you see. The ones that despite being told one hundred great things they always remembered the one bad.
''You don't know me...Not enough''.
''Let me get to know you then. Tell me, what makes you believe that you are truthfully a sociopath? I have read some books about sociopaths, maybe I can help'' he urged the raven haired to explain himself with his dove-like voice.
''You will drift away from me too... E-everyone do-oes this after a while'' he stammered.
''You are the worst sociopath I have ever seen in my life... I won't leave you. I p-promise'' he smiled and finally Jungkook gained the courage to speak.

''There are many signs apparently ... Can you believe that people actually have relationships with sociopaths?'' he asked, rolling his eyes.
''As long as they can calm them down and not allow them to use manipulation, I can't see why not. You know that this is pretty normal, right? Sociopaths can easily adjust to new environments and their partners are able to change them for the better to some extent. Of course this is just a rare occurrence''.
''The site wrote that they lack remorse'' Jungkook countered back.
''I am pretty sure I have heard you apologizing before... And sociopaths can actually understand the terrible predicament somebody might be trapped into. They just can't feel it. You aren't like this''.
''Thank you for being so nice to me'' Jungkook murmured and grabbed a cigarette from his pocket. The smouldering stick instantly lit up, a think cloud of smoke escaping the younger's cavern with every puff. Oddly, Jungkook found serenity in the smell of burnt tobacco, especially when the smoke lingered a little longer on his lips. The tingling burn isn't bothersome, on the contrary Jungkook enjoyed holding the puff a little longer before exhaling. ''Sorry for not talking, I was just lighting up a cigarette''.
Jimin felt a sense of discomfort yet he chose to ignore the younger male's addiction. People had different pressure valves when it came to specific utopias. Some escaped reality with drowning in the sky while others were using materialistic things. And unfortunately Jungkook belonged in the second category.
''Don't thank me. I am just trying to convince you that Taehyung said all these nonsense because he was probably angry, caught up in the heat of the moment''.
''Now that I am thinking about it, you are probably right. I read that sociopaths are also charming, so I certainly can't fit the type'' Jungkook laughed yet Jimin's lips formed into a straight line.
''You are joking, right? Have you seen yourself in a mirror?''.
''I mean I am handsome but ...''.
''Why but? You are incredibly good-looking, stop doubting yourself. When I first met you I was like... damn, the man is fetching'' Jimin complimented and fixed the hair strands that didn't obey. Instead of blushing or feeling timid, Jungkook found himself shuddering at the words. He felt as if Jimin was saying these words just because Jungkook had basically ''created him''. Although Jimin didn't know that...
''You are pretty too'' he mumbled. If only Jimin knew how many paragraphs the author had written for him.
''Oh, thanks'' Jimin smiled, not flustered at all, as if he had been receiving compliments his entire life. '' Now promise me that you will stop having these thoughts. You aren't a sociopath. You aren't neither manipulative nor competitive. You have literally nothing to worry about''.

However Jungkook just cracked a small smile and didn't say a thing. Because deep inside he knew he was all these things. Competitive? Always. From a very young age he remembered himself desiring to be the first, to win everything. And let's not even discuss the manipulation topic. Even if he didn't do it willingly, he really didn't mind leading Jimin and inspecting his movements. But he has been enjoying the man's company a little too much... As if he was growing feelings.
And Jungkook wasn't sure if he would enjoy being in love.
''Ι will be working all week. I won't even have the time to breathe'' Jimin complained. Grabbing his jacket and delicately throwing it over his shoulders, the blond rolled his fingers through his hair and made his way to the exit door, Jungkook following his footsteps. The author had invited him to his place, the man's gentle, caramel face bringing him a sense of placidity.
''So you won't have time to hang out this week?'' Jungkook inquired, receiving a not so subtle smirk from Jimin.
''Don't worry Kook. I will find some time for us'' Jimin tittered. He wasn't a fool, he could track down the sexual tension between them from miles away.
''I...''.
''I will give you a call. What are you planning to do now? Continue this novel of yours?'' he asked.
''I am about to order some pizza and rot on my chair with the company of my typewriter'' Jungkook laughed, massaging the back of his neck.
''Go and write another masterpiece. And order the pizza later, it's too early now...See you around Kook'' he waved his hand and ran to his car. Jungkook made sure that Jimin drove off safely and walked back inside his living room, throwing himself on his sofa.
What was he doing? Was he seriously falling in love with Jimin? He was unable to explain the peculiar similarities between his fictional character and the real Jimin, let along begin falling in love with the blond. Ηe tried to avoid him yet his efforts were fruitless, not even managing to dodge him for five days.
Jimin was his new addiction and quite frankly if Jungkook had noticed correctly, the blond had grown a soft spot for him. And for Jimin he wasn't a sociopath...
Standing up abruptly, he ran to his desk and grabbed all his files. Every paper, every note, every single page he had written was thrown into his cupboard. Shoving the papers in the drawers, Jungkook locked the cabinets and with trepidation glistening like liquid fire in his irises, he threw the key on the left corner of his bookcase's shelf. Ashamed of his own fear, seeing that he didn't have the guts to place the key directly on the wooden surface, he saw the dust that was taking roots on the left side of his shelf. He was such a freak being afraid of the left sides.
He couldn't bring himself to clean up that area. He wasn't going to take the key from there too. This was a potentially effective method of erasing all these past events. Of forgetting his fight with Taehyung, of disregarding Jin's idea about writing a monologue...Of locking the fact that Jimin wasn't a fake chimera.
Because he was a hundred percent real and he had managed to gain his trust in a heartbeat. And Jimin was the only person he had right now.
Jungkook just wanted things to be normal. Have a relationship, a house to spend his life, a good job, a simple, nice aliveness. He owned a place and let all things aside he had a job. The only piece that was missing from the incomplete puzzle was love.
And Jungkook hoped this could change. But he wanted it to happen the good, old-fashioned way. No manipulation, no writing on his notes that he wants Jimin right then and there.
If Park Jimin was going to fall in love with Jeon Jungkook, it would have to happen naturally.

''He looks so innocent''.
''Let me tell you something Yoongi, Jungkook is nothing but innocent'' Jin retorted, his eyes averting from one screen to the other.
''I meant in terms of malice and roguery. He has courage but he is pretty gullible. However, he hides lies quite easily...At least he thinks so''.
''Why are you always speaking so calmly?'' Jin inquired the younger man. His cat-like eyes pierced Jin's tough exterior and with a small, almost childish laugh, Yoongi answered the raven haired's question.
''I don't want to frighten my interlocutors. And since my interior is impregnable solid, my exterior should be warm liquid. You should know that humans hide their true personalities really great Jin. Not because they are hypocrites but because they don't want to be different'' Yoongi closed his eyes and smiled.
''But Jungkook isn't a sociopath Yoongi. You know that!''.
''Trsut me Jin...when reason fails, insane logic helps''.
