The tension was so thick in the air that one could cut it with a knife.
Taehyung was back at his home, standing by the large window by his sofa, fuming with rage. Hyein could actually see a slight tremor of his fingers as he physically forced himself to keep control.
When Taehyung had spotted her with Jimin, he had simply taken hold of her hand and dragged her out of there, without even a look of acknowledgment towards his brother. In fact, Hyein wondered if he had even seen him. Given the state of mind he was in at that moment, she wouldn't be surprised if he hadn't seen Jimin.
Hyein gulped down nervously. She had been standing there for some time, expecting an out lash from the raging bull that had forcefully dragged her out of there. He hadn't spoken a word and as time passed, it only seemed to get worse.
"Mr.Kim?" She called tentatively, her voice soft and gentle so that she won't accidentally tip him off.
"WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING HYEIN?" He exploded, making her wince at the impact of his deep voice nearly shattering her eardrums. She was too scared to reply. She couldn't even find it in herself to correct him for calling her real name.
"I told you to not do anything dangerous, didn't I? And what did you do? You immediately went running after the stalker!" Taehyung fumed. Hyein bit down on her lower lip in shame. When the guy had tried to run away, she didn't consider the fact that it would be that dangerous. She just got too pumped up with the adrenaline that she had completely forgotten about her promise. She just lost what little trust Taehyung had in her.
"God knows what would have happened Hyein! Do you know how dangerous it was?!!"
"I-It wasn't that dangerous," Hyein weakly defended.

"Like hell, it wasn't! You could have gotten hurt!"
"It's not like you care."
Silence.
She probably shouldn't have said that.
Taehyung's eyes darkened into a hard scathing glare that burned.
"You know what? I don't need your help anymore. So ignore the case. I can do this on my own."
Hyein gasped. She had messed up. She couldn't let him handle the case on his own. "Y-you can't do that."
"Watch me." He simply replied.
"Taehyung I am already involved in it, you can't just kick me out now. You can't do this alone."
"I can. Now, if you will, leave me alone." There was no talking back. He was determined and there was nothing she could do.
Hyein had really messed up.

"And then do you know what that jerk did? He grabbed my hand. MY HAND! Even taking a bath in a tub full of hand sanitizer won't help me! I can't believe this ugly, bullfrog-faced-"
"Hyein-ah stop! Do you even know what you're saying? You chased after a stalker, Hye! A STALKER! What would you have done if he did something to you?" Hoseok cried trying to get the point across to his stupid friend who was yelling at the phone.
Hyein couldn't find an answer as clutched her phone close to her ear and Hoseok's deep angry breaths could be heard through it. Hobi was right. He was right. She did something wrong.
"Hyein-ah~" Hoseok called softly, knowing that his friend was upset. "I know that's not what you meant. I know that you are angry at yourself, but you have to admit it."
Hyein clutched the phone tighter, curling herself into a ball on the sofa as she listened to his voice. It resonated within her mind. As always, Hoseok had an eerie way of reading her mind, when she was distressed and he had an exceptional talent for comforting people.

"Okay.." She softly murmured, finally accepting her mistake. "I'm wrong. I'm sorry."
"You should be," Hoseok replied, his voice a little brighter now that she had accepted her mistake. "You don't know how stupid that was."
Hoseok sighed, " and also Taehyung, is it?"
"Yeah.."
"Taehyung was that angry at you?" Hyein groaned. It was obvious where this was going.
"Yeah, so what?" She could physically feel his evil grin through the phone.
"I told you, didn't I?"
"Okay Hobi, we're not going there," Hyein warned, and her thumb hovered over the end call button.
"Think about it Hye, why else wo-" beep
The call duration lit up on her phone and Hyein threw it on her sofa before curling even further into her blanket with a pout.
"Stupid Hobi."
_______________
Taehyung stared at the large whiteboard in his study, where he had made a little table all by himself. Though the board was really big and wide, there wasn't enough information to fill up all the parts. Every clue he added to the list only raised even more questions. But in the end, he concluded that the answers came to lie with the two main suspects, their names written in the center in big red letters.
He dragged the deep red marker towards the center connecting all the clues to the main suspects. There was nothing special about it. It just looked like a particularly weird spider. The clues didn't point anywhere. What was he even doing? Taehyung groaned.
"I would place Park Jimin at the top if I were you. After all, he just magically appeared out of nowhere at the scene yesterday."
Taehyung glared at the source of the voice.
"I told you to stay out of it."
"Oh, you did but I'm just not going to listen."
"Secretary Lee!" Taehyung yelled and Hyein tried hard not to flinch.
"You can't do anything about it."
"And why is that?"
"Because then I'll report it to the Police and it will be game over for our Heir." She smirked.
"Oh, and what would happen if I, the victim, denied everything? Even the evidence of the break-in is with me." He challenged, an eyebrow lifted up, a look of taunting in his eyes.
"I did think about that. But I've come prepared," Hyein said as she fished out her phone from her coat pocket. With a smirk that brought out her dimples on her cheeks, she pressed the 'play' button on her phone.
[...You look cool when you're serious. Like when you completely focus on something, wow...]
The familiar thick raspy voice rang out through the room and the color drained from his face.
[Uhh, okay... and then?]
The awkwardness in her voice was even more prominent through the recording.
[And... I want to....]
[.....You want to?.....]
[..........I want to k-]
"STOP! I got it! I'll take you back, I'll take you back, okay?" Taehyung yelled, waving his hands in front of her face that was glowing with a triumphant smile as she watched him struggle.
Hyein sighed, hands dramatically waving outwards, "God, having this kind of charm is such a hassle." she teased. "You..you-" Taehyung miserably stuttered to find an appropriate threat to shoot towards his smirking secretary in vain. Having no other choice, he shot a withering look her way before storming out of the room, ramming his shoulder into hers on his way.
"Ouch! You didn't have to do that, you je-" Hyein caught herself from completing the word in time. But Taehyung wasn't listening anyway. He walked out of his house with clenched fists and face flushed in an adorable shade of red. Hyein's grin broadened at the sight.
"Yah! Let's go together!"
