《Cute but Psycho (Emmett Cullen)》Chapter Fifteen

The next morning, Piper almost contemplated staying home from school. She had finally come to terms with what Bella had said about the Cullens. She realized that Bella was right, which scared her half to death. Honestly, she couldn't believe that she had sat so close to a vampire for so long. If she had known, she probably wouldn't have been so close to any of them. They didn't hurt her at any chance they had gotten, so she wondered if they were even bad guys after all.
After getting dressed, Piper went straight to her car and drove to school. It was Friday, meaning Alice and Rosalie would be expecting her, but she didn't know if she would be able to handle staying a weekend with them after she had learned the truth about them. Honestly though, she wanted to know so bad why Emmett hadn't told her the truth, even though she knew it was a secret, and he had the right to keep the secret from her.
As soon as Piper arrived at the school, she seen the Cullens watching her car pull in. Edward was the only person that wasn't standing with his family. Looking over, Piper seen that Bella's truck was already in the parking lot, but she was also no where to be seen. Frowning, Piper realized that her sister had disappeared with Edward, even after finding out the boy and his entire family were vampires.
"Piper," She heard, causing her to jump,"Alice told me you know about us now. I think you deserve to know why I didn't tell you, and you have the right to ask me anything you want and I will answer." Emmett said, as he climbed into her car.
"Do you want to ditch school?" She asked, as she started her car again,"it's not like you need it. You have the chance to go to high school for eternity." She commented sarcastically, causing Emmett to chuckle.

Even when the girl was irritated, Emmett seemed to find her almost hilarious. She could make anything funny if she wanted to, and he was sure that the girl knew it, too.
"I would've told you, but my family and I believed it would be too dangerous for you. You finding out on your own worked in my favor though, I can tell you that." He said, making her sigh.
"When I came to this school, my friends said your family never talked to anyone, until you talked to Bella and I. Why?" Piper asked, causing Emmett to look over at her.
He wanted to explain everything in detail, but he wished to explain the mate thing to her at a later date. He couldn't lie to her now though, so he was going to tell her everything, even if he didn't want to yet.
"It was safer for all of us, especially Jasper. He's the newest vegetarian to our family, meaning he's the newest to drinking only animal blood. He didn't have the same life as the rest of us when we turned, but he's getting better. When you and your sister arrived, there was something about the two of you; something special. Bella, she's Edward's blood singer." Emmett said, causing Piper to bite her lip.
"Blood singer? What is that?" She asked, glancing over at him.
"Her blood sings to him, essentially. To be honest, it means it's hard for him to be around her, since he pretty much wants to suck her dry because of the scent of her blood, but he's attracted to her, and the fact that he can't read her mind like he can everyone else's. He has the power to read minds. I believe he's falling in love with her, even though she's his blood singer." Emmett answered, making Piper nod stiffly.

"And me?" She asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
"You..." He trailed off,"You're my mate. Unlike a blood singer, I don't want to feed on you. I feel protective over you, and I guess you could say almost possessive in a way." He replied, causing the girl's eyes to go wide.
Piper wasn't expecting to be the mate of a vampire. Hell, she never expected to ever have a man in her life. She believed she was going to be the crazy cat lady when she grew old, but with ferrets instead of cats.
"D-does that mean I have to be like you?" She asked, pulling over to be able to look at him in the eyes.
"No, not if you don't want to. I would never want to live the rest of my life without you, but it's your choice." He said, causing her to sigh.
"That's totally not putting the pressure on me at all." She murmured, laughing lightly.
"I was hoping, maybe, now that you know about us, that you'd want to try and be with me. I want us to be together, and I was hoping you would, too. Not only because of the mate bond, I've grown to like you for who you are, and I want to be with you." He rambled, causing the girl to smile shyly.
"Emmett, I know you think I'm freaked out by all of this, and truthfully, I am just a little, but I started liking you before I knew all of this. It might take me a bit to wrap my head around everything, but I'd like to be with you. We just have to take things slow, just not Bella slow." She said, not knowing Bella was willing to move way faster with a vampire than she ever had with a human male.
"Works for me," He replied, laughing with a smile on his face,"Now we should go back to your place for you to pack for the weekend. You know Alice and Rosalie won't let you get out of this weekend's plans now that you know the truth." He said, and she nodded laughing as well.
She wondered if being with a vampire was actually going to be as bad as she was scared it was going to be...

They didn't move for a thousand years... "Admiral Grant," the King suddenly shouted. The soldier's head snapped up in surprise. "Yes, Your Majesty?" "Wake the Giant." The rust peeled off like dead skin, falling into the ocean and revealing the shining metal body beneath. The ground shook as the gears began to turn, their grinding heard for miles.
