《The Insemination》Chapter Two

Miami, Florida is very beautiful around this time of the season. Sure, the heat would rise up more than it needed to, and the wind could get harsh; but it is fall, that was to be expected. The leaves have started to turn into their natural autumn colors, as some have started to decorate the ground.
As Amelia stops at a red light, we turn our head to the loud music booming from the red Dodge to our right. The driver looks at us and flashes his deep side dimples. He puckers his lips out making a small smooching sound.
I look to Amelia, as Amelia looks to me and we burst into laughter. "He's looking at you," I tell her still laughing.
"Nope. That's all you there," she says as the light turns green. "He can always be a step daddy." Once the light is green we drive a few more blocks down until she turns into the right lane and makes a right into Starbucks.
Parking her car in the parking lot, she checks her face first as I have already exited the vehicle. "Would you just stop you look fine," I tell her when she is finished. She has always been the one to constantly check and fix her makeup.
Instead of replying, she sticks her tongue out at me making me laugh. Getting out of her jeep, she locks the door and loops her hand through my arm. Making our way up to Starbucks a guy exiting the building holds the door open for us.
"Thank you," we say in unison walking in. Walking into the aroma of coffee, mochas, frappes, and lattes, Amelia starts searching the building. It doesn't take her long to notice the tall, short hair man at a table by the window.
"Hey baby," he says as he notices her walking towards him.
"Sorry we took so long," she says bending a bit to kiss him on the lips. "Irina had to keep her legs elevated a bit longer than expected."
I roll my eyes at her as she sits next to Thomas. "You make it sound so dirty," I tell her pulling a chair out in front of Amelia and sitting down.
"I'm not trying to. I'm just saying, I wouldn't have a random guy between my legs injecting me with some random guys sperm. I don't see how you can do it."

"Easy, you tell them you want a baby, lay on a bed with your legs elevated and that's it!" I say smiling.
"Look at her baby she has a glow doesn't she," Thomas laughs ignoring me.
"Doesn't she? It's so cute," Amelia coos.
"Okay you two, I'm sitting right here."
"An order for Thomas," I hear someone call.
"That's us," he says standing from the table.
"Feel anything?" Amelia asks me as Thomas leaves to get the order.
"I just got the sperm put in me, I don't think pregnancies work like that," I tell her which makes her roll her eyes.
"Okay, a s'mores latte for you with a fruit cup," Thomas says returning and places down Amelia's drink. "A white hot chocolate for you, and a cappuccino for me."
"Yes," I smile. Opening a straw, I stick it in my drink and put the green straw up to my lips. Carefully drinking the hot liquid, it brings an instant smile to my lips as I feel it flow through my body.
Then I look at Amelia's coffee and frown. Coffee has been my addiction since I started at the Institute, but in order to make sure the process of being pregnant works, I have to stay away from it.
"So, enough about me," I tell them. "You two need to pick a wedding date still."
Amelia groans. "Cut us some slack, we're trying. We just found a wedding planner not to long ago and we have an meeting with them coming up. We already have the number limit of people and the location down. Plus we thought about December. A winter wedding."
"Hey I am only doing my duty as the Maid of Honor. It is my job to pressure you about these things. Also, a winter wedding sounds beautiful. Will you dress up like Elsa from Frozen?" I joke.
"I know ha ha ha. Make fun all you want, but I actually think it will be beautiful." Before Amelia has the chance to say anything else, Thomas's phone starts to buzz.
"Hello? Where? Okay I'm on my way," he says hanging up. "Well, duty calls," he says standing from the table and leaning over to kiss Amelia.
"Another house?" Amelia asks kissing him back with a worried look on her face.
"Nope. Just some old lady that wants her cat out of the tree," he laughs while cupping her face.

I notice Amelias stress lines leave once Thomas laughs and his hand rests on her cheek. He gives Amelia one last kiss. "I love you baby," he tells her. "I love you too," she smiles.
"See you later Irina," he calls out to me as he leaves the table. "Later Tom Tom," I call back calling him his nickname I somehow have given him from the time of knowing him.
Once he leaves the building, I turn my attention from my drink, to Amelia, and frown. "What?" she says looking at me trying to seem innocent but avoiding my eye contact. She stuffs a sliced pineapple into her mouth looking everywhere but at me.
"Is it really bothering you that much that he is a firefighter?" I ask snatching her fruit cup from her before she eats another one.
"No."
I feel a small pain in my chest. "Your lying," I tell her eating a pineapple myself.
She looks at me and shrugs. "I just worry about him. We are to marry soon, what if something bad happens? I cannot live without this man Irina."
I do a side smile as I reach out and take her hands. She looks into my eyes and I see the worry that must keep her up at night. "Nothing will happen. I have a feeling your wedding day will be spectacular. Besides I'm your Maid of Honor. You know I won't let anything go wrong," I smile trying to redirect her attention.
The worry on Amelia's face starts to fade away. "True. Now, let's get out of here. We should be able to make it to school early and have twenty minutes to spare," she tells me while gathering her belongings.
Picking up my cup, I walk to the trash can and toss my drink. Following Amelia out of the Starbucks, we make our way to her jeep. Getting in, she hooks up her iPhone to her jeep, and starts to play Pandora.
Without noticing, my hands fall to my stomach. Looking down I smile. To be a mother is a wonderful thing, yet so many do not agree. Women who can find someone to give them a family are the luckiest women in the world to me.
While my luck on the other hand, just doesn't quite cut out for me.
It will be a miracle is I even get pregnant.
Removing my hand from my stomach I sing along to the words of "Sugar" by Maroon 5 as we make our way to campus.

It doesn't take long for Amelia to be in the parking lot of the school. I sigh as I think about my next class.
"Oh come on you big baby it's just one more class," she tells me as we walk out of the parking lot and pass groups of students talking, texting, or just sitting in a group. "Oh, and are we still on for tonight?"
"No, I told you I have a shift at four until closing."
"That's right. I was eating when I got that message. I think I was paying more attention to the pasta more than your text."
Looking at her I shake my head and laugh. "You are such a fatty," I joke.
"And you love me for it. Call me," she says as she breaks off into the direction of her class once we are inside of the building.
"Okay," I say back as I head into the direction of my own class.
Making my way up the stairs I start to huff. No matter what stairs they are, they always kill me. And one would think I would be use to these stairs after being here for almost four years.
I guess that would mean I am out of shape, but my weight is so small one would think no stairs could bother me. And I go to the gym, yet, these stairs just makes it hard for me.
Making it to class with ten minutes to spare, I look at the crowd of students. "Hey Irina," say a few. Speaking back, I find my seat and take out my notes and to look over a few things as I know we where having a pop quiz today.
As the professor enters the class five minutes later, everyone's conversations quiets down. He walks to his desk, puts down his belongings, looks at everyone, claps his hands together, and smiles.
"Alright everyone, pop quiz," he says making just about everyone groan and some soak in their seat.
I just smile.
