Chat jumped from rooftop to rooftop, searching through all of Paris, but feeling more and more hopeless with every time his pole hit the ground, as he felt like he was chasing his own tail. He didn't know where to start. However, once he saw the Dupain-Chengs bakery, he thought maybe he could use that as a starting point. He walked through the bakery door to see Tom and Sabine sitting at a table, looking stressed and tired. "Hey Tom and Sabine." Chat said. Tom and Sabine looked up, surprised to see him. "I heard about what happened with Marinette. Is there anyway I can help?" He asked as if it would make a difference, as he very well knew he would look for her either way,

"The police are already on this case, but if you insist I'm sure you can help us!" Sabine said warmly, although Chat could see the worry in her eyes. Chat sat down at the table with them to discuss everything they knew, and so far there really wasn't a lot. They discussed the possibilities of her running away, being kidnapped, but none of it really added up. She was suppose to be at school during the time of the akuma attack, but according to her friends Marinette went to the bathroom and never came back. Adrien went to the bathroom around the same time as Marinette to transform, and now that he knows Marinette is Ladybug, so she was doing the same. Chat knows exactly where Marinette was when she disappeared, but he can't tell her parents that without revealing her identity. All Chat wants to find out is if Marinette went home after he saw her disappear into the mob.

"When was the last time you saw Marinette?" Chat asked.

"Friday morning when she left for school." Tom replied.

"Ok thank you so much for your time, I'm feeling better about this now." Chat said as he stood up and walked out the door. Chat didn't wanna waste any time, after seeing the look on Marinette's parents faces, he didn't wanna keep them waiting any longer. Now Cat Noir knows that Marinette did disappear in mob and hasn't been seen by anyone since. Now Chat has one person in mind. Hawkmoth. It would make sense, he could've taken her when he wasn't looking, or maybe she had been hit and went crazy, making her easier to kidnap. This terrified Chat, as he had no idea where Hawkmoth was or when he would see him again. Now Chat was certain that Ladybug was alive, just in Hawkmoth's lair without her miraculous. He knew it was gonna be very difficult to save her, so he made a plan.

Cat Noir decided that if he was going to find Hawkmoth he would have to wait for an akumatized villain in order to find hawkmoth directly, as that was the only possible way to find his lair. It would be painful, but he knew he would have to wait it out. Cat Noir leaps from rooftop to rooftop back to his home again. He is miserable, missing Marinette, and hating himself for not noticing that she was Ladybug. All Adrien wants to do right now is tell Marinette how he feels, but he can't. He knew that recently he was starting to feel different about her. There was no doubt that he still loved Ladybug, but the way Marinette stood up for him so he could go to New York, and when they danced in the moonlight, he felt differently than he always had, he felt like she was more than just a friend.

Adrien walks outside his room while his father walks into his own room, and that reminds him that he needs to ask if he can skip Chinese this weekend for a Marinette search party. As he approaches his father he freezes at the doorway, and creeps back. His father is standing facing a painting of his mother and pressing on what looks like hidden buttons on the surface of the image. Then he steps back and sinks down on a platform into a circular hole which looks as if it's leading to another room. Adrien covers his mouth in shock. What is my father hiding from me? After the hole has closed Adrien runs to the painting and feels for the buttons. He finds them, but knows he can't go down. He has to keep this knowledge a secret from his father, at least until he can get down there alone.

"Ok Plagg something is going on. Did you just see what my dad did?"

"Yeah no kidding. You're lucky he didn't see you or else you might as well be rotten cheese!"

"This isn't a joke Plagg. I'm going tonight when everyones asleep. I have to see what he's up to."

"It's none of your business Adrien, but I'll come with you just to make sure you're safe. Shouldn't you be focusing on Marinette right now?"

"We're waiting it out, for another akuma attack. Until then we can gather other clues, but I'm pretty sure Marinette is with Hawkmoth. Until we can find him, we have time to figure out what's going on with my dad."

"If you say so Adrien. What if your dad is Hawkmoth? That passageway seemed a whole lot like it could lead to an evil lair."

"No way! My dad my be up tight but he is no where near as evil as Hawkmoth, and my dad has all good intentions, even if he expresses it in a weird way."

Adrien knew he couldn't get any sleep with everything that was going on, so he just stayed up until the time he knew is father would be asleep. 2:45 am was later than he had ever saw his father awake, and earlier than his father ever woke up, so it was perfect. Adrien woke up Plagg and creeped down the hall careful not to step on a creaky plank or breathe too loud. Everything was pitch black, so he turned on his phone flashlight.

"Father?" Adrien fearfully shouted after he turned on his flashlight and jumped back when he saw his father at his doorway.

"What are you doing up at this hour Adrien?" His father asked him with a cruel look on his face.

"I'm uh- I'm- I'm- getting some water. It's hard to sleep you know with all this stuff going on with Marinette." Adrien's father looked down at him, and Adrien could feel that he saw right through his excuse, he was sure his eyes said it all.

"I understand son. But no friends for a week unless it involves looking for Marinette, school, or fencing. I will not prohibit you being out of your room this late."

"Ok father I understand." Adrien said somberly, turning around and walking slowly back to his room. Adrien sighed as he closed his door. He started crying, everything was crumbling down in front of him. How could he ever protect Paris without Ladybug? He missed Marinette. He wishes his father appreciated him. Adrien was beginning to feel overwhelmed with all of his superhero duties, and duties as a son, and a student, especially now without not only his teammate Ladybug, but his friend Marinette.

"Oh stop crying Adrien. I can go through walls, remember? Why don't I just go down there and see what he's hiding." Plagg said.

"It's too dangerous. You can't risk being seen, not with him out there." Adrien put his head back into his arms. "We'll try again tomorrow Plagg." He fell asleep in his desk chair, as he was too tired to walk to his bed. At 7am, after only a few hours of sleep, Plagg woke up Adrien.

"Quick! Wake up! Your father just left! I was snooping for some camembert and heard him tell Natalie it was a urgent work trip and he would be back by tonight."

"Can you say that again? And can you not pull my hair to wake me up next time?"

"How else am I suppose to wake you up? All I'm saying is that this is the perfect opportunity to see what's going on."

"Fine. And stop snooping. It's too dangerous." Adrien got up and made his way across the hall into his father's room, and closed the door to be extra safe. He pressed on the correct spots on the painting, and to his surprise, it worked, and the ground beneath lowered. He was anxious as he went down having no idea what expect. He gasped, and looked around. It really was an evil lair. Then it hit him, was his father, Hawkmoth? Akumas were scattered on the floor. Adrien started shaking and it felt like his throat and ears were closing up, he couldn't breathe. He had been fighting his own father this whole time.

"Plagg! Plagg! You're right, he's hawkmoth!" Does that mean Marinette's down here? Adrien thought. "Marinette? Marinette? Marinette?" He yelled. "Plagg we have to transform."

"Are you sure Adrien? Isn't this dangerous?"

"Lets just be safe then."

"Plagg, claws out!"

"MARINETTE!" Cat Noir screamed.

"Cat Noir, over here!"

"MARINETTE!" Adrien responded to what sounded like a distant call.

"Over here Cat Noir!" Cat Noir ran around screaming her name but it sounded like she was in the walls. Tiki emerged.

"Cat Noir, over here!" Tiki said and then guided Cat Noir to a space in the wall. "Here. You have to enter a code the unlock it. Press here." Cat Noir pressed down on a smartphone sized spot in the wall which flipped up leaving a keypad. "We don't know what it is, do you have any ideas?"

"Ummm let me think." Cat Noir said to Tiki. "Of course!" Chat entered the classic family login that they had for everything, 2-4-8-2. It was his mothers birthday, February 4th, 1982. It unlocked, and the door opened up to Marinette sitting on the ground.

"Cat Noir!" She screamed and went to hug him.

"Yes m'lady?" Chat replied flirtatiously.

"M'lady?" Marinette said as she stepped away. "How do you know?"

"You and Ladybug both went missing at the same time, it only made sense. If I hadn't known your identity I wouldn't have been able to find you. Your parents helped me a ton."

"Wait, does that mean they all know? That I'm Ladybug?"

"No, of course not. Your secrets safe with me Bugaboo. We have to get your miraculous though, do you know where it is?"

"It's in that drawer next to the wooden box." Tiki said. Chat walked over and then threw the earrings to Marinette, who transformed right away.

"You know you look gorgeous with and without the mask, right Mari?"

"We have no time for jokes right now Kitty, it's time to go! I do appreciate you saving me though."

"Anytime m'lady. You know I'm all yours."

"Ok let's get out of h-"

"Nice of you to join us Cat Noir. Now I have both of the miraculous' right within reach!"

"Fa- Hawkmoth?" Cat Noir said. Akumas were flying towards them, they knew they had to get out. They had too much fear inside of them fight off the negative energy. Cat Noir cataclysmed the window and they both escaped. With the akumas following them, they had no where to go, and reached the other end of the city before feeling safe.

"Pound it?" Ladybug asked Chat, and then they fist bumped.

"Well now we know who Hawkmoth is." Chat said to Ladybug.

"Yeah that should make things a lot easier, but that reminds me Cat Noir, can I ask you something really important?"
